So, yeah. Hinch to that seat. And in the presser Andretti & Mike Hull said some things that line up right with what I have been hearing - that it was a complex problem and that it was never down to Alonso's comment about Honda engines. That rationale never made any sense.

That rationale never made any sense. Alonso's best chance was with Andretti so, honestly, this latest news makes little sense. Almost sounds like Mikey is falling on sword for Honda to take some of the heat off them. If Alonso winds up at Ganassi, then we can all say it wasn't Honda after all. However, if he winds up at McLaren, we can call BS on Andretti.

Buhl and these capitalist venturers are going to align themselves with an existing team. A team that has the foundation but lacking the capital to move forward: Carlin.

Alonso to run third McLaren entry at Indy. So, Mikey says Honda didn't block Alonso from joining them but no other Honda team picked him up. Just saying!

MC LAUGHLIN (Indy GP) Hopefully there is no conflict of an Indy 500 entry. racer.com/2020/02/05/supercars-star-mclaughlin-set-for-indy-gp-with-penske/ No 500 weekend entry clash, but he'd miss out because qualifying is the same weekend as Perth here. www.supercars.com/calendar/

Scotty is going to run the Indy Grand Prix, not the 500. It's a vacant weekend between Auckland and Perth.
Not to mention that to run the 500 he would have to go through all the rookie tests. That takes a substantial time commitment beyond just qualifying.

If Andretti had a chance to sign Alonso, they would have. They also had Ruoff Mortgage signed up to be his primary sponsor. Then they let them go with Alonso to McLaren. Think about that. Ruoff is also going to sponsor Little Herta for six races this season, just not Indy since Andretti has another sponsor lined up (Autonation or Capstone?).

Sounds like he is gonna run more races after Indy. Hopefully, Mid-Ohio will be one. Want to check him out that weekend.

But I doubt they will risk hurting his already strong chance at another Supercars championship. He's off to a good start there.

Marshall Pruett says a high profile elite driver who has never driven an Indy Car is on one of the big team's radar to race for them sometime this season. I think it is Jimmy Johnson. Are there any clashes with the NASCAR schedule?

^there are a couple NASCAR off-weeks and Saturday night races. The Indy/Charlotte double is just about impossible now.

More than once, JJ has said he wants to do some IndyCar races. But only after his last NASCAR season and I'm pretty sure no ovals. I suppose he could make an oval exception for the 500.

Craig Hampson says McLaren has offered Jimmy Johnson a 5 race deal in 2021.😲

I would be extremely surprised to see him run anything outside of NASCAR this year. Pretty sure he wants to stay focused in his last season there.

I know. The post I was quoting was saying they were hoping he would be able to do the 500 as well.
