Bourdais and Kellet confirmed for Foyt's revolving door aka the 14 car. Surprisingly, Foyt intends to run a third car at the Indy 500 for Kellet.
So, I guess you can scratch Foyt off the list of possible Alonso suitors. 🤣🤣🤣

The grid is almost complete... well. I think. Dragon speed has yet to fill in an oval specialist.

Not technically a silly season thing, but Roger Penske is going to give Aussie Supercars champion Scott McLaughlin a ride in the Indy road course race along with some track time at the CotA pre-season test.
I'd call that well deserved. Hope he does a good job.

He was fast at Sebring. Next Rick Mears. Yeah. He's a hell of a good racer, but an absolute magician when it comes to qualifying. Can't wait to see what he can do with an Indy Car. I'd love to watch him slinging one around St. Pete.

Anyone listen to Marshal Pruett's latest Indy Car podcast? It was over two hours long for chrissakes.
In it he said that he and Chris Medlan (well, Chris Medlan mainly) had been sitting on a story for awhile that Honda in Tokyo was not ever going to approve an engine deal for Alonso. A synopsis of what went down:
1. Andretti and Alonso talked about desire to do 2020 Indy 500 together.
2. Andretti approached HPD about an engine supply for Alonso. New leaders at HPD said they would deal with Tokyo and were extremely confident Honda in Tokyo would give approval.
3. HPD told Andretti to proceed with getting budget together for Alonso effort.
4. Andretti finds sponsors to fund Indy 500 effort for Alonso and informs HPD they are good to go.
5. HPD goes to Honda to get their blessing. Honda says absolutely no. Never will happen.
6. HPD passes bad news to Andretti. Andretti not pleased. Actually pissed.
7. Issues with Alonso during the McLaren-Honda cited as the reason.
8. Andretti throws hail mary to save deal. They were prepared to fly to Tokyo to issue apology to Honda. It was insinuated that Mario would deliver it. However, they were told that Honda's decision was final.
9. Andretti informs sponsors that deal to run Alonso is off and won't happen.
So, the GP2 engine comments, according to MP, was not the only thing that derailed this deal. It was a culmination of bad mouthing of Honda that did him in. We hear the GP2 radio transmission but we don't hear all his bad mouthing during testing, debriefs, etc. Pruett said Alonso is a very good driver but is extremely selfish, even more selfish than most drivers, and can be very difficult to work with. Very caustic behavior. MP said, simply, that Alonso can be a dick and his act got old with Honda. He said that Alonso has only himself to blame. He made his own bed and is getting what he deserves. He said people, who are saying that Honda is behaving bad and like children, have no idea what went down to force Honda to do this. Also, Alonso never publicly apologized to Honda nor did he ever intend to. The fact that senior members of Andretti Autosport were prepared to fly to Tokyo to, apparently, apologize to Honda and not Alonso himself is all one needs to know. MP also said that Honda will never be involved with Alonso again. Alonso is dead to them and will never be forgiven. He also said although Chevy has won the last two 500s, Alonso will only ride with a top team. He is cherry picking and that is what cherry pickers do. He said he doubts we see Alonso at Indy this year.

I like to see Nasr do some ovals along with the Indy 500. And a 3rd seat for Camera.

There were some rumors that Conor Daly would fill in for Chilton on the ovals outside of Indy. However, I have also heard it isn't likely to happen as his focus for 2020 is going to be solely with ECR.

Where do I post about Marco Andretti getting driving coaching? If there was a "Should have done that many years ago" thread, that would be the place.

When asked how it could have been money, Andretti replied that maybe it wasn't about the money. Andretti also said his deal with Honda allows him to run whoever he wants. Yet Hinchcliffe was announced today at Andretti for both Indy races and Texas and he is bringing money. Meanwhile Alonso says he has deal to run Indy 500 now. Speculation is McLaren.
