All I can say is Hamilton has the ability to make a car perform better than it should in a race, but he's not the guy to make a TEAM perform better over a season. Put Hamilton and Schumacher (in his prime) on the same team and and Michael wins the title 7 out of ten times. Matchett used to say Schumacher gave constant, constructive feedback during the race, if he had a problem with a strategy he would NEVER call the team out over the radio. He'd wait until the debrief to go over things. Lulu's driving skills are amongst the best ever, but he's no "team player" he's a hired gun. Clearly he did not used to be a team player at all. But I think you are mistaking what is said over the radio as some horrible thing. Different people do things differently. QB's question the coach's play calling, for example. Some are vocal about it, some are not. But they are all team players. Clearly the team rallies around Lewis and his TEAM says he is a team player. Wolff talking about how he puts in many hours and criticizes his own driving in meetings. Provides tons of feedback. He always calls out the team after his success. He IS part of the team and IS part of the strategic calls. To not use his expertise would be silly. His in-race calls have been correct as least as often as they've been wrong. He also contributes to the strategy development. This I learn just reading things. No insider knowledge. That doesn't detract from the awesome personality and driving genius that Schumacher possessed. I guess I am unsure why his team is fine with this situation but apparently others outside the team think they shouldn't be. They're fine with it because it's a simple business exchange, they pay him lots , he drives fast and wins. And of course they say nice things about each other, that keeps the sponsors happy and the fans get their illusion of nice people doing and saying nice things. But he's still not in Micheal's league as a team builder IMHO.

He IS a team player, however, and that is important. He is not saying "I am the peak and I will build the team in my likeness", he is saying "We are all important here". Which, I think, is what he is supposed to be doing.

He won't even do his bit in the simulators anymore.

He won't even do his bit in the simulators anymore. Do you have anything about his hours in a simulator compared to the other drivers on the grid? I mean, doesn't Albon do all the RB sim?

He won't even do his bit in the simulators anymore. I thought he hopped on Gran Turismo after they started getting their asses kicked before Silverstone? Hmm makes sense, he wasn't working on setup he was working on how to drive others off the track and out of the race.......

I can see how Ferrari desperately needs a leader. They are a revolving door of leadership. Merc, on the other hand, has a leader.

Dude admit Toto never said it, the second hit after Michaels F1.com page is an article about Michaels leadership at Ferrari. Four pages of searching for the same type of article yielded lulu talking himself up.....

He is a key team player; that IS important AND the job of the driver and Toto DID say that.

Some posting here have got it all wrong. Lulu is not the G.O.A.T. He's more like a goat. It's been stated that some of his calls while driving the car have been the correct call. Well, a stopped clock has the right time twice a day.
