So Merc finally confirmed the obvious, that most of us have been saying for about a year?

^ Toto put signing De Vries at williams in jeopardy by keeping the obvious Russell signing on the down low.

^ I'd live to see him hang around just to see how he gets on in next years cars. The question is will next years' fuels be "sustainable" enough for Sebs' sensibilities?

I think he sticks around for one more year.

My question regarding the so-called "sustainable fuel" is: How energy-intensive is the ['refining'] process? Can it be done on a scale that is realistic for transfer to general use, rather than in hugely costly motor racing series like Formula 1?

^ Solar, and Wind generating systems are limited in the geographic sense: Where can they be located for unfettered access to their primary energy sources? ------------------------------------------------------------- "Transporting new renewable energy from regions with sun and wind in abundance to regions that are energy-hungry requires different expertise to be smartly combined." - www.siemens-energy.com/global/en/news/magazine/2021/haru-oni.html

The fuels they're hyping are supposed to be synthetic, so one has to assume mass production isn't a goal as much as the hype of being "sustainable". F1 isn't trying to save to world, they're trying to save themselves by catering to a certain demographic with a little marketing slight of hand. The bio fuel scheme is a distraction away from the push to remove the expensive MGU-H tech no one is really interested in. the new push is reducing the sports carbon footprint rather than the cars simply using less fuel, which they may have to resort to if the new fuel can't match the energy density of the current ones.

The advantage is that over 20 miles off shore the winds blow stronger and more consistently and the smaller individual turbines mean if one goes out the whole thing isn't down and a larger profile to catch winds that may miss a single large set of blades. The key will be transmitting that electricity to where it's needed.

This happens to be something I do for a living. Just about anything can be done with sufficient funds. It can be made and made "green". Solar is not really limited; I mean, the suns shines nearly everywhere a fair amount. Maybe not enough to make a huge solar plant profitable, but enough to power a factory.

I simply can not see Russell playing second fiddle to Lewis. With Russell's super efforts in qualifying the Williams now in an equal car to Lewis? I could see Lewis not getting too many poles next season. Even if Merc actively tries to slow him down by detuning or aero changes I just see Russell being better. In the race? We shall see, but Lewis has always been blessed with incredible luck in races. Should be fun.

I mean, sometimes they are, but no one WANTS to be. I expect George to be about equal but at least next year would guess it'll come out 55/45 for Lewis because of his consistency and race craft. I refuse to believe any time actively tries to slow down either of their drivers; to me that's just tin-foil hat shit.

(Rumor of the day from Italy: Sebastian Vettel could be thinking of leaving F1 at the end of the year and Mr. Lawrence would be looking for a driver for 2022, if this is the case it could be a very attractive bomb for the drivers left in the market ...)
