Like a nose pimple before a big date Lewis still hasn't signed for 2021. Rumors stretch from just a couple small items to tick off to there haven't even been any talks.
Bottas 5.0 could mean the Finnish of his Mercedes career.
And that means out of contract after the season Georgie and Sergio will be all over the charts.

I think Georgie's performance in the desert was a bad thing for Lewis and his numbers, he's no longer the 'wonder boy' that can't be replaced at any cost. Give Georgie a year in the car and there won't be many times he isn't within a tenth or so of Lewis's times. Will there be some of course, but since the car brings out the drivers talents and Lewis wasn't driving at his max most of the time anyway I think it be will nearer 80% than 20%.

The only thing George lacked was a car that fit his shoes. He smoked everybody.

So Mercedes needs to slow down just a touch to keep Max in the car he's in, which they know they can beat especially with their engine woes, instead of letting him go to some other Team that could be closer in the future.

^...or go faster and open a seat for max next year. Yes, Mercedes wins both championship this year. Lewis retires, Bottas fired, Max and Russell at Mercedes for 2022.

I guess that's a nice thing to do but that seems unlike Toto to me.
