He "let" Max alongside?? So you think he had a choice there? He didn't protect the inside so he left the door open and Max attacked. LeClerc simply blew it. Max was going to be alongside on one side or the other.

It has nothing to do with how the corner was entered or who thought who gave up on the corner.
The rule states that when two cars are side by side, Leclerc's wheels and Max's wheel were lined up perfectly, front on front, rear on rear, each drive must in that circumstance leave a car's width of track space for the other.
Whether the stewards will enforce the rule to the letter is beyond me.

Still waiting on the decision... The longer this goes on the more likely Max is getting a penalty.

Either way, it's Hamilton's fault.😉

My take away thus far is the folks who claimed they were already done watching this season writing away on this message board in fine detail about this race. P.S. Yeah you.

Still waiting on the decision... The longer this goes on the more likely Max is getting a penalty. They know if they do the right thing and let the win stand, then Ferrari will demand the 5 sec penalty on Vettel from Canada overturned. I would be cool with that. Let Max keep his win while taking one from Hamilton.

I would be cool with that. Let Max keep his win while taking one from Hamilton. Many people would be happy with that but unfortunately I do not think that is going to happen.

I don’t know how to call that one but Max knows LeClerc is on his outside since he passed on the inside and followed the apex out wide. He can’t say he didn’t know LeClercs car was there.

the only positive thing about this nonsense is that someone besides a merc is prolly going to win. but then if I put on my tin foil hat I see this. often over the past years since 2014, when ever everyone complains about the mercs being to far ahead, they have a off race. 2015 in singapore. mercs were smoking the field. the F1 world was whining. then seb smokes that race. everybody shuts up about merc, and the next race it's back to things as usual. there's other examples. makes me wonder if someone in Stuttgart told Toto to cool it for a race. :-)

Just in general, I don't think either of the penalties in question should should be imposed. But if you are going to fallow the rules, a penalty against Max is certainly in order. He didn't leave room and forced LeClerc off.
