As much as I love the "Press Your Luck" game show, the box that Ugo Ugochukwu landed on was not enough. The New York native and McLaren Development driver managed to get another win, a 2nd-place podium and a P4. But it was Kacper Sztuka who played run-away in races 2 and 3 to eventually clinch the Italian Formula 4 series title at Vallelunga this past weekend. Ugo's performance this past weekend was enough to seal 2nd place in the standings right after Red Bull Junior driver Arvid Lindblad performed poorly in qualifying. But it was race 2 where he got involved in the big one in race 2. Miami's James Egozi managed to break his scoreless streak with top 10s with a 10th in race 1, a 7th in race 2 and a 9th in race 3. Race 1 Results: 1 - Ugo Ugochukwu 2 - Tuukka Taponen 3 - Kacper Sztuka 4 - Zachary David 5 - James Wharton 10- Egozi Race 2 Results: 1 - Sztuka 2 - Taponen 3 - Brando Badoer 4 - Ugochukwu 5 - Freddie Slater 7 - Egozi Race 3 Results: 1 - Sztuka 2 - Ugochukwu 3 - Taponen 4 - Wharton 5 - Badoer 9 - Egozi The final results for the season are Sztuka with 315, Ugochukwu with 280, Lindblad with 264, Wharton with 206, Taponen with 196 in the top 5. Egozi finishes his season with 37 points in P14. There is 1 more Eurocup-F4 event in which will be held in Barcelona this following weekend. The results of a race are yet to be determined from Monza from a botched yellow flag in the race. www.f4championship.com/

Monza brought another Monster Meanie for Ugo Ugochukwu once again. During the 2nd weekend of the Euro 4 series, the New York native and McLaren development driver took another U-Turn on his chances to keep the points lead. Races 1 and 3 were called official as Ugochukwu finished 2nd in race 1. But his chances to put distance on his rivals in the points hit rock bottom in race 3 where Ugochukwu was penalized with a drive-thru after nudging his teammate James Wharton at the Variante del Rettifilo thus finishing 23rd. Kacper Sztuka won the 1st race holding a charging Ugochukwu for 2nd with Arvid Lindblad joining the podium. Wharton and Akshay Bohra round up the top 5. Race 3 belonged to Arvid Lindblad. Badoer and Bohra took podium honors. David and Tuukka Taponen complete the top 5. Race 2 results were completely on hold due to controversial incident where a track official did not remove the Safety Car sign from the Curva Grande thus thinking that Sztuka was supposed to slow down. However - the other officials were confirmed that the track was green causing the biggest confusion. This is considered the biggest blunder in racing this season. Results in finishing order are considered un-official. Freddie Slater was declared the winner with Ugochukwu finishing in 2nd with Wharton rounding the podium. David and Badoer complete the top 5. But due to the critical mistake of the track marshal, the ACI who sponsors the series, decided to hold he points scoring for race 2 until October where a hearing will be held. If that would have happen, I would call for a Red Flag ending the race. Currently, Ugochukwu holds a 12-point lead over Lindblad (98-86). Wharton is in a steady 3rd. Sztuka and Bohra complete the top 5 as they wait for the official word on the Race 2 results. (Fast fact: The marshal who did not remove the safety car sign was relieved from its duties.) www.acisport.it/en/F4/home UPDATE:After further review on Race 2, the scoring was based on the laps that were run. It went into Red Flag rules where Ugochukwu finished 7th. The win went to Kacper Sztuka with Arvid Lindblad and Brando Badoer taking the final podium spots. Freddie Slater and Ashkay Bhora round up the top 5.
With only 1 round to go, Lindblad holds a 3-point lead over Ugochukwu (86-83). Sztuka comes in 3rd with 74. Bohra and James Wharton hold their top 5 positions.
The short series will conclude at Barcelona this week.

Despite being a shorten race 3, Gainsville, Ga. native Noah Ping has earned his 1st podium finish with a 2nd in the GB3 Series in race 3 as is Nico Christodoulou who earned a 3rd place podium in Race 2 at Zandvoort. Alex Dunne to the 1st 2 races this past weekend in dominating fashion. But had to make his wins a runaway where Dunne was met with early safety car periods. Race 1 results were Dunne, McKenzy Cresswell and Joseph Loake taking podium finishes. Richmond Hills, Ontario native Christodoulou and Souta Arao wound up the top 5. New York's Max Esterson crossed the finish line in P13 with Miami's David Morales in P14. Ping scores a P16 for his efforts. Race 2 results were Dunne, Cresswell, Christodoulou in the podium. James Hedley, and points leader Callum Voisin rounding up the top 5. Morales, Ping and Esterson came in P11, P12 and P13. The reverse grid race went to Daniel Mavlyutov. Ping and Arthur Rogeon score podium finishes. Morales and Voisin round up the top 5. Esterson crosses to a P9 finish. With 7 events completed, Voisin retains his top spot keeping Joseph Loake in 2nd. Dunne retains his spot in 3rd with Cresswell and Matthew Rees rounding the top 5. Christodoulou keeps steady in 8th. Ping also retains his position in 11th with Esterson 1 position behind. Morales climbs 2 positions to P14 as the series will come to an end at Donington Park this weekend. www.gb-3.net

https://www.instagram.com/p/Cytb-6muV_d MYLES: YOU HAVE COMPANY!!!!! It was a short 3-round season. But it was a last-chance opportunity for Ugo Ugochukwu to at least take a series title on Double-Points weekend. I bet somewhere that Hakeem Olajuwon, Dikembe Mutombo, and Christian Okoye might pass their nicknames to this talent. The New York native and McLaren F1 development driver pulled the ultimate "Hail Mary" coming from 3rd place to finally take the Euro 4 series title in the 3rd race at Barcelona becoming the 1st African-American to win an open-wheel series title in Europe and joining USF Pro 2000 series Champion Myles Rowe. Ugochukwu took pole for the 3rd race as title contenders Arvid Lindblad and James Wharton suffered unexpected fates that cost them their run for the titles. Italian Formula 4 series champion Kacper Sztuka did not take part of this weekend. At 1st, Wharton won the 1st race of the weekend. But during the start, Wharton and Tuukka Taponen took the run-off on the outside. Track officials reviewed the race before confirming that Wharton and Taponen were in track limit violations by entering back to the track illegally. Thus the win went to Askhay Bhora with Arvid Lindblad and Wharton taking the podium spots. Ugochukwu and Taponen round up the top 5. Race 2 was the ultimate defining moment where title contenders Bhora and Lindblad collided on lap 1 thus dropping Lindblad out of the top 10. That collision resulted a 10-second penalty for Bhora in which both drivers were all but eliminated from title contention. The win went to Wharton with Ugochukwu and Taponen scoring podium results. Nico Lacorte and Zachary David rounded up the top 5. Bhora and Lindblad were still in title contention. However, with the Race 3 pole position, Ugochukwu only need to finish ahead of Wharton, Bhora and Lindblad. But Brando Badoer had other plans to play spoiler. After numerous attempts to catch up Ugo, Badoer went wide numerous times that cost him his 1st win. But it was all Ugochukwu going flag to flag to take the 3rd win of the season and the inaugural Euro 4 series title. Badoer and Taponen rounded the final podium spots. Lindblad and Wharton were unable to catch the front 3 thus finishing in the top 5. With this short series complete Ugochukwu routed the point standings with 193 points over Wharton's 168. Lindblad, Bohra, and Taponen round up the top 5. This season became the 1st ever barrier-breaking moment for this talented driver. And Willy T. must be proud. https://www.instagram.com/p/CytPZD5rZWq TIME FOR KATZY'S SPECIAL: PASTRAMI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! www.acisport.it/en/F4/home

It was a fitting end for the US drivers who competed in the GB3 series this season. And for New York native Max Esterson, his season ends with satisfying result with a 3rd in Race 2 and 2 top-10 finishes in races 1 and 3 (P6 in race 1 and P8 in race 2). But Callum Voisin was the driver who stood ahead of his rivals thus taking the GB3 Series title for 2023. Voisin scores the Race 1 win and a 2nd in race 2 before holding a reverse-grid challenge by staying ahead to win the championship after Joseph Loake spun right by the Hollywood corner. Race 1 results: 1. Voisin 2. Matthew Rees 3. Alex Dunne 4. James Hedley 5. Souta Arao N. American finishers 6. Esterson 8. Nico Christodoulou 12.David Morales 16.Noah Ping Race 2 results: 1. Dunne 2. Michael finished with 6 points total in 1993. Scored a 5th at the Hungaroring. Michael's podium was a gimme when Alain Prost lost his engine with 5 to go at Monza. That was a special moment and the last where 2nd-generation drivers have shared the podium.

I knew he had 7 points, but couldn't recall where he finished sixth and had to look it up. IIRC his Monza drive was "Driver of the Day" material long before such a thing existed. Think he spun out at one point, was tail-end Charlie, and raced his way to fourth before Prost's engine blew and he inherited third.

With the GB4 title already taken, a boost of pride is left for Colin Queen who was the only US driver to complete the season. The Cota De Caza, California native manages to score 2 2nd-place podiums on the final weekend of the GB4 series at Donington Park. The weekend belonged to Cooper Webster who becomes the 2nd driver to score the hat-trick of the season. The 1st 2 races were dominant for Webster. But the 2nd race was cut short after Gainesville, Ga. native Zack Ping lost control of his VRD entry resulting his car split in 2 at Macleans. Ping scored a 4th place finish in Race 1. The final point standings were Mills finishing with 505 points over Webster who settled with 464. 3rd went to Liam McNeilly with 407, followed by Queen with 355. Harry Burgoyne round the top 5 with 243. Pembroke Hills, Florida native Jeremy Fairbairn who only competed in 3 events finishes in 9th. Ping - who was a late entry in the season - finishes 16th in the points. Queen for sure will remain in GB4 to make his 2nd attempt on the GB4 title before moving to GB3 or possibly in Italian F4 or Euro 4. www.gb-4.net

Ugo Ugochukwu was the best performer who would only finished 15th in the major FIA F3 World Cup min race after his initial Qualifying race ended with only 1.5 laps right at the Hotel Lisboa curve. This after improving his starting position in Q2. Esterson would finish P16 in the qualification race before finishing 20th after he was involved in a tangle at the Melco hairpin curve damaging his front wing. Luke Browning swept the weekend. Sebastian Montoya's weekend ended early after 10 laps in 22nd after stalling at the start. www.macau.grandprix.gov.mo/en/news/event/1782

And the slogan would say: "Red Bull Gives You Wings". But for Jak Crawford: He received Swan Wings after his split with the Red Bull Junior Program. The Houston native would only managed to score 1 point in the FIA Formula 2 feature race after crossing 10th at Abu Dhabi and a a P12 in the Sprint. Miami's Juan Manuel Correa would eventually finished the feature in 13th. His sprint race lasted 3 laps during his incident. Frederik Vesti would eventually win the sprint ahead of Enzo Fittipadi who suffered defective brakes in the end with Richard Verschoor taking 3rd. Dennis Hauger and Isack Hadjar rounded up the top 5. Jack Doohan went on tho win the Feature ahead of Victor Martins and Vesti. Ayumu Iwasa finished 4th. Theo Pourchaire's 5th place was enough to seal the FIA Formula 2 series championship. Enzo Fittipaldi crosses the line in 14th. Pourchaire finishes the season with 203 ahead of Vesti. Doohan's win was enough to jump ahead of Iwasa to 3rd with Martins completing the top 5. Fittipaldi posts a P7 in the standings. Crawford's Red Bull Swan Song ends in P13. Correa's season ends in 19th. Team DAMS will have Correa and Crawford testing in the final FIA Formula 2 post-season test this week. Once again will be a make or break for 2024. www.fiaformula2.comThe season in review is next.
