Will his tune change if VW and/or Porsche want it too? With all the investors in the different Teams these days I would be surprised if some behind the scenes buying isn't being investigated, some existing investors just could be looking to take the cash the run in todays market volatility.

Myself I think he needs a billionaire primary backer. Billionaires have a way of creating deals.

F1 waiting for manufacturers is like when Ronzo said his cars performance would bring in the principal sponsors he (sorely) needed, we know how that worked out.

If Porsche or Audi wanted to enter F1 they would welcome them. F1 needs another team or two because if they lose one the grids are going to look small. We hear all the time how one team or another is talking about leaving. Even if they don't a 22 or 24 car grid would be better.

Yeah but they aren't talking about starting new teams, Audi wants to buy/merge with an existing one and Porsche is looking for a PU supply deal only. Liberty and the teams like that because it (supposedly) adds value to the sport without diluting the payout to the teams. To them adding an actual TEAM is a losing proposition.

When Manor went under in 2016 the price was 1 dollar. Then a year or so later Liberty took over. They put a end to Bernie's 1980ies / 1990ies way of running the F1. The new digital media, the netflix thing and so on. So now, even with the 2 years of the rona, the price per team has went thru the roof. Well over a 1/2 billion. Prolly closer to a billion. But many see the good times and just like on Wall Street they think the good times are here for good. They never are. To many races and F1 becomes a international version of nascar. To many spec parts and the cars become something more like indy car. At some point the whole house of cards is gonna fall apart. Be it politics, business, finance or sports, it always does as nothing lasts for ever. Keeping Andretti out may make short term sense but in the long term it's dumb.

I was just saying if they were trying to enter with a new team they would probably be welcome. For the health of the sport they should have at least one more team on the grid and two would be better.

It's beyond "probably", Liberty has already said they'd waive the 200 MIL entry fee (cough, pay out) if a major payer stepped up. When the news of engine supplier only deals began they started talking about a 25 MIL fee for that. EU regulators started taking notice with some questioning such things breaching anti trust laws, haven't heard a peep about those fees since.

f1i.com/news/443935-andretti-no-reason-for-disrespectful-wolff-to-look-down-on-us.htmlThis article says "Wolff contends that Andretti has so far not demonstrated that its entry will boost the sport's revenue in the long term or add value to the field of competitors." That has set Mario off. There is no guarantee that any entry will boost the revenue but some have a better chance than others. Andretti is the most well known name in racing overall. If anyone outside of a major manufacturer stands a chance of bringing in revenue its Andretti. What Toto is really worried about is if Andretti brings a new two car team that will be two more cars that will finish ahead of Lewis.

Toto really needs to STFU. Toto hasn't brought any value to F1. MB has, but Toto hasn't.
