I was baffled about the ramblings about Perez catching Alonso when he clearly didn't have the pace advantage for the number of remaining laps. And, as Martin pointed out, he had to get past Norris and even that wasn't a given until Norris blew a tire. Weird.

Pirelli had estimated 30 laps for the mediums. Bottas blew his tire on lap 33. Sounds pretty accurate to me.

They aren't talking about the VSC. They are talking about Max being penalized in qualifying.

IMHO the Virtual Safety Car at the close of the race was 'Insurance', just to be sure no one could pass Hamilton, if he got a puncture. The race was effectively ended to prevent any additional stress on Lewis' tires jeopardizing his pending victory. Just as was done in Quali, to prevent a faster lap than Lewis had done.
