Get ready to see lots of spots like this all over COTA next weekend for F1. Here they're grinding the nasty bump entering Turn 14. Photo courtesy of my man at the track. Any idea if they are doing cash parking on Friday? IIRC they have no parking left. But try Danny and Carmen's parking by Lot T near the Turn 1 entrance. They have a facebook page and you can pay in advance on Paypal. Good people, and super convenient - like 75 feet from Lot T.

I've actually softened on Danica a bit since she retired. She's actually a pretty good announcer.

Please don't distract us from 2 weeks of Critical Asphalt Theory. We've kept it pretty basic so far, but hey, we can get into some 'critical asphalt theory' if you like. I just finished two articles and an explanation of how COTA continues to fuck up the track. They were sent to me by the engineer/racing surface specialist who oversaw the repairs & full resurfacing at Silverstone - Jarno Zaffelli. And I know there are a couple of people in here that also know a lot more about it than I do. You might not believe how much thought and detail goes into the process - or doesn't, in some cases.

Yes Jarno Zaffelli is my go to guy on all things asphalt. If anyone here actually knows more about the incredibly interesting subject of asphalt than yourself, I like to hear from them as soon as possible. The racing of cars has always been second to my interest in the surface on which they race.

Why is it that the pinnacle of motorsports whines about the conditions. Too many bumps? Just soften the suspension and slow down a bit. These top-notch people always seem to need the most perfect of conditions. I'd like to see the Yankees play on the lumpy piece of grass we have to field ground balls on. Step up!!

That's how I feel about these millionaire professional golfers. I would love to see them play some of the unmanicured goat trail courses we have to play out here. They whine about losing their ball in the rough, heck, we have courses here where you could lose your damn cart.

I saw Danny Ric on the Monday Night Football pre-game show last night talking up his buddy on the Bills and the USGP. He's pretty damn funny. Thing is, he never mentioned Critical Asphalt Theory at all. I found it odd he left out the most interesting part of racing.

Well, he's a funny guy, but COTA's disgraceful track condition isn't funny. What's funny is that you've brought it up here more than anyone else. What's even funnier is that it seems to be all you want to talk about (while crying like a little bitch about me talking about it). You should be happy this weekend, because it's gonna be a popular topic.

BTW Danny Ric was just spotted at Voodoo Donut, ordering an apple fritter. Living dangerously for an F1 driver! A moment on the lips, a lifetime on the hips...
