The last race was sort of boring even though it was wet. Ocon made some history by completing the Turkish Grand Prix on one set of tires. Lewis cried. Two Red Bulls on the podium. I think Bottas probably won and then Toto made him give the trophy to Hamilton.

I miss in person events!

I'm sure Hairy Scotsman will fill us in the details of whatever the latest drama from COTA is. I think the track surface is pretty messed up from what I read about the Motogp race.

I hate to say it but USGP is my least favorite race of the year. I don't care for COTA track.

At $459 per ticket the wife and I looked into going but the airfare was jacked up to over $1000 per seat, the following week it's under $300 per seat, so I will be watching it from my wannabe comfy chair. I have a really nice recliner in storage but in this condo the 'furnished' stuff isn't meant to be comfy as much as 'long lasting'.

Heads up. More last-minute COTA bump grinding incoming.

It seems like Masi doesn't understand where the bumps actually are at COTA. In addition to most of the east side of the track which hasn't been resurfaced, T1, T2, 10, 12, & 18 are all still problem areas even after resurfacing.

Two years ago several F1 drivers complained about the bumps that had appeared around the Austin circuit, with Max Verstappen describing some of them as “ramps” that led to the cars briefly leaving the ground.

Parts of the circuit were resurfaced afterwards, including the run up to Turn 1 and the first part of the Esses, the back straight, and most of the final sector.

This was done to “counter some of the issues we saw in 2019” according to FIA race director Michael Masi.

However, large bumps have still been reported since – including through the sweeping Esses in the first sector – and it was a hugely controversial issue at the recent MotoGP round.

F1 race director Masi says he was in contact “all weekend” with officials from MotoGP governing body the FIM “to get a true understanding of the entire situation”.

“The areas that were raised by the bikes are different areas to those that were resurfaced,” he said.

“They’ll grind some bumps and so forth,” said Masi.

“But we’ve got some time to do it. So, they’ll do what they can within the timeframe.”

I would guess that this is so people can get to the venue and settle in. Especially with the undercard races and activities.

I think the late times go with the concerts at the track on Friday and Saturday. The concerts are part of the ticket packages. Even Fauci knew that one.

It's so more of the people who are there for the racing will go to the concerts & mix with the people who are just there for the concert, thus helping the visuals.

I know some of y'all will think I'm joking, but seriously, that's why. It started back when he first started using the concerts as a way to get more locals there. He lobbied Bernie at the time to move FP2 and Qualifying way back and explained it in an article.

Didn't Vettel and ALOT of others also keep hitting a hole they made at the end of one of the allowed run off areas which is where he gave the final blow to his suspension?
