If I am remembering the rules correctly there are still some things on the car they can adjust even parc ferme. So P2 this morning was not a complete waste of time Right. The link I posted said 'partial' parc ferme ... to wit:
One benefit of Parc Ferne that I have observed - the cars are much more reliable during the races. The old procedures of 'jacking up the steering wheel' and building a entirely new car between qualifying and the race caused a lot of mistakes to be made which caused failures during the race.

That was one fucking insane start by Alonso Noticed that at one point he started the outside pass - could see what was going to happen with the inside car and 'backed out' of the move and used the inside car as a draft partner into the next turn to accomplish the pass. RACE CRAFT

A couple thoughts. When lulu won the friday evening qualifying the talking heads were over the top in a ecstasy moment. google it. MDMA. :-) This is by memory and I could look it up if I had the ambition, but when lulu set his fastest time in friday evenings Q3 1st run he got a tow from Bottax. Bottax said as much on the internets.
Saturday morning in P2 lulu was way off the pace. The cars were doing high fuel race pace runs. The talking heads were acting like they were at a funeral.
Then during the sprint race lulu couldn't keep up and said as much to the team over the radio. the talking heads went so far as to call it mot a race at all. When everybody else on the grid were racing their hearts out trying to gain a position.
The mercs went for a low downforce setup. (I think that's what the talking heads said) They were 3/10ths up on max in sector 1. And 4/10s down in sector 2. They had the highest top speed thru the traps. But they chose the wrong setup.

It has more downforce when needed and more speed when needed.

The Brit commentators just suggested Bottas take out Max. Sportsmanship!

I have been thinking about it on and off most of the day and I'm not sure if I liked it or not.

I liked it better and think it makes for a better weekend and a more topsy turvy championship. Watching practice is a waste of time. Made Friday and Sat considerably more interesting.

I call it interesting. They have one P session to get the setup right. The bulls think they may have a bit to much rear wing. The mercs prolly have not quite enough.
Then the racing. Basically what we have is one race with a 24 hour red flag situation after 100K. During a normal red flag situation they can change the tires, and replace broken parts. Same as we have this weekend.

Let's see.........................normally we have an hour long event that builds up to a climax and is not decided until the final seconds. Today we had a 20 minute "event" that was decided in the opening 10 seconds. Meh.
Personally I got more punch from yesterdays fake quali than anything that went on today. There was no Russell lap today. A not race is not a good race.
