Sprint race? Ummm, did it add to the show? Was it exciting? For me, not so much. Added nothing of value to qualifying. The "gimmicks" are not needed in racing. Stage racing, sprint races, and everything else that they try make no difference really.

Well Hamilton choked at the start and lit up his tires. That was good enough for me to give this sprint race idea a thumbs up.

I'm still not sure I like this, but it was fun. It's so quick though. (And yes, I know that's why they call it a sprint). It feels like if you blink you will miss the whole thing.

It demonstrated what happens to the tire when they are pushed for the Sprint Race distance.
Cursory look at the podium finishers tires - they were track by the checker.

It looked like avoidable contact to me, but I'm sure it will go unpenalized. Hell, they've thrown the red so Macca Merc can fix the car.

Red flag so Lewis can fix car and change tires without penalty. He always comes out good no matter how bad it is. He is the GOAT of luck. Hopefully he will get a big penalty because that crash was more on him that Max.

Last week we had a lot of 5 sec penalties and the other car was able to continue. Is it a bigger penalty that when the other car can't continue or produces a huge crash?
