With 'outside' passes - all responsibility is on the PASSER to make it work, not the passee. Once the passee turns in he WILL track out to the edge of the track. Physics is even harder than math. Read the rule book. The driver rules say something completely different. Each driver has to leave a car width’s of space of track for the other driver if the cars are overlapped. Failure to do so is a penalty. As we’ve seen today. And sitting her in my chair that's what I thought the penalties were about, not leaving enough space for the other car

Sir Lulu cant win unless car is 0.3+ sec faster. Pushed wrong button in Baku, mowed some cement here today. Error after error, while Max gets flawless by the race Lewis was out qualified by Bottas in Monaco as well. He is having a hard time leading his team through a little bit of adversity. Lewis is the new Vettel.

There's nothing Lewis can do or not do that will change his status as the greatest statistical Formula One driver of all time. There's a place on the MT Rushmore of racing waiting for him.

I also read the rule books so I know what actions incurs penalties. You should try it sometime.

^^ The way I remember, It was at this race in 2019 where the whole thing about leaving enough space for the passing car if there was some overlap started. Max passed Leclerc at the top of the hill and didn't leave him any space. Leclerc went off road racing in his Ferrari and Max won the race. What Max did was legal at the time put prolly a bit unfair. So that's when they started the whole thing about leaving a bit of room. Like it or not, that's the rules in this racing series.

What the FIA did was say that as long as a significant part of the passing car is "alongside" a space must be given. They later clarified "alongside" as the passing car's front tire ahead of the leading car's rear wheel. That wasn't just for the passing car's benefit, the car being passed could also be flipped if wheels touched. What Max brought into the sport was the moving under braking rule changes.

Then I guess you never COMMITTED to a corner - where your exit is determined by your entry and apex point. Back off the power and you go to a snap spin.

When ya get to be my age ya remember what ya wat. :-) The discussion between the let em race thing and ya gotta leave em enough room thing. :-) That's been going on for a long time.

I have been in every overtaking scenario possible along with every outcome. This isn’t about opinions. It’s about the rule book. The rule book clearly states that Norris and Perez (twice) earned penalties for failing to leave track space. If you have a problem with the rules as written contact the FIA.

It's humorous and sad. You get these top drivers trying the outside and when it fails you get the radio "he forced me off". It's like a soccer player taking a dive, King James trying to draw a foul after no contact. They moan about the stewards and yet it's the first card they play.
I still look at the Leclerc/Verstappen incident in 2019 exactly the way I did then. Max had the inside and took the line away from Leclerc who had no business going off track except trying to get a penalty.
