Inept after incident examination 101. You are completely mistaken. The article states the damage could not be seen or discover by examination. It could only be found by putting the car under a driving load. Leclerc is only one responsible for his DNS.

You crash, you lose.

The only part I wonder about is the amount of time it took to get the car back to it's pits. Literally the accident occurred just around the corner from the pits and there's a 2 1/2 hour hole before they could look at it. The FIA still scrutinizes many things on the cars not related to the damage but it seems like a reasonable thing to do would have been to expedite some of them.

^ YES YES YES!!!
It would also be nice if they found a way to let a rebuilt car make an installation lap prior to things closing for the night so the Team can request an exemption if needed. There has to be a 'down' time of a few minutes between series to let a car make a single lap. It could be kind of a 'special' event for the people waiting for the next thing on track to happen, like when they send the V10 out to do a few hot laps.

Hell - even SCCA allows a 'Hardship' lap between races/sessions of the Runoffs. Pit Out around the track to Pit In.

The runoffs are not run on city streets with pedestrians after the day's running is over.

One thing seemingly not taken into account here is the possibility that the crack in the LR hub was unrelated to the crash. Things happen without impacts. Sometimes parts just fail.

^^ there's one thing for certain. If the cracked hub happened to the Mercs, Toto would have thrown the machinist back at the factory under the bus.

Why not just replace the Monaco GP with a 'Classic GP Car Show' with demonstration laps similar to Goodwood Festival of Speed?

might be more interesting to make the longer track the regular one, and allow short cuts a few times per race.
