someone correct me if I'm wrong. But the way I remember, the spec engine that the teams use in the last race of the season will be the spec powertrain for the the next 4 years. So merc has problems with their engines this year. they'll prolly be able to make changes for reliability but basically this powertrain is what they're gonna have till 2026. I think they may have some long term problems No, it's the scec of the PU on the end of the last day of pre-season testing next year.

That is huge news. Porsche, Audi and maybe a few other manufacturers will be joining F1.

That is huge news. Porsche, Audi and maybe a few other manufacturers will be joining F1. from the article That has now resulted in the FIA’s World Motor Sport Council confirming that there will be four central elements to the new power units that are coming for 2026. They are that the current 1.6-litre V6 engine will be retained, electrical power will increase to 350kW, the MGU-H will be ditched and there will be a cost cap for engine development.

Exactly what the VW Group wanted.

Now we wait for the devil(s) in the details, something tells me the MGU-K will be reworked to function like the MGU-H and be driven by the ICE as well as under braking. It also may be listed as a "common" part.

In ditching the MGU-H - are the turbos that drove it also being ditched?

^Most of us remember when they would actually LEAVE the sport before they came back, I guess this way is more efficient.
