racer.com/2020/05/18/wolff-sees-merit-in-mercedes-signing-vettel/Toto Wolff admits there are both marketing and sporting reasons to sign Sebastian Vettel, but does not expect to make a decision on the Mercedes driver line-up in the near future. Vettel is out of contract in 2021 and will leave Ferrari at the end of the season, with Carlos Sainz having already been signed to replace him. That means the four-time world champion is available at a time when Mercedes has yet to extend the contracts of either Lewis Hamilton or Valtteri Bottas beyond the end of this year, and Wolff says Vettel’s ability is not the only thing that would be attractive about a possible move.

Madness has been Ferrari's middle name for decades.

If Sainz shows near equivalent speed to LeClerc - the conflicts of Vettel/LeClerc will be minor by comparison.

The quoted article says nothing about Sainz signing anything only that talks were held much earlier than the 48 hour window from the Vettel announcement and the signing of first Ricciardo and the Sainz. Drivers are major decisions involving teams and sponsors and take a little time to conclude. My guess is May wasn't in the original plan but something was about to leak which triggered the moves.

It's an anti-Hamilton conspiracy! Hamilton would get Alonsoed at German team with Vettel. Karma is a beotch. Mercedes will giggle like girls on a slumber party having a German driver. This could get beyond Toto's paycheck.

I wonder if Vettel having no manager is a cause for his current situation. First 4-time WDC ever fired from F1 due to performance?

Is that Carlos Jr's real hair? It looks like a 'Perm' or worse - a "Wig-Hat"

I would have sent him packing after Brazil last year.
