My take is that all this talk about drivers having written in their contract that they're a #1 is nonsense. Prolly the last guys to have that would be the Schu, and prolly Alonso. Lulu never had it. He's better than what's his name now days so it's a non issue. If he had it, then Nico wouldn't have won the WDC in 2016. Fattel never had it. The vampire preferred him over weber but the truth is that almost all the time fattel was just plain faster. The idiot at redbull doesn't have it and doesn't need it as he's just plain quicker. Ferrari is not Mclyin. They don't lie, cheat and steal like ronzo did to win. They said that their guys were free to race each other last year. and they did. and more often than not, the new kid was a bit quicker.

I have serious doubts about that story.

Lewis wants Vettel at Mercedes in the hopes of 'One Last Hurrah' between the two of them in equal machines. They want to rekindle that same rivalry as in their early go-carting days. Besides overcoming Schumacher's record, Lewis has very little left to prove in F1, other than maybe rubbing Max's nose in the dirt. Lewis and Sebastian would love nothing more than to have it out one last time to go for all of the marbles. They both respect each other as the tops in F1 and want that one last chance for the most equitable face-off before fading into the sunset. This is why Toto's remark about Vettel's departure from Ferrari is key. Lewis has approached him and wants to make it happen as it is the last chance in their careers to do so.

So Vettel is retiring, unless both Lulu and Bottas are getting real bad news soon

To replace Kimi? Giovinazzi is a Ferrari guy so he seems set at Alfa for a little longer, I think. Vettel and Kimi, though, both began their careers with Sauber. Full circle!

I think we're forgetting Lewis' meltdown at Mercedes when Rosberg pursued and got co-#1 status and Lewis became so insufferable that Nico left the team and retired.
And that's how Bottas got in at Mercedes--fast, but usually not fast enough to beat Hamilton 9 times out of 10 and is willing to be a team player.
Lewis and Seb at Mercedes will be like two soiled assholes fighting over sewage.

I feature Nico's only aim in his years with MB was get a WDC over Lewis - once that was accomplished his life's goal had been accomplished and he had nothing further to prove - to himself or anyone else.

Toto, papa Stroll and Aston can pool enough dosh to operate a team under a $174 Mil budget, the question IS what happens to Force Nepotism?

The question will be driver salaries, can they afford Lulu's current one and any future one as well, if not he too could be on the market soon. I'm guessing his contract is void IF the new owner doesn't want to honor it.

I do not doubt that, but I think he was also completely disgusted and emotionally exhausted after Hamilton made such a complete ass of himself in that final race. How could he continue to pretend that he had any remaining respect? What a minute, Nico has to do that now in his role as a commentator. He may have even said nice things.

I was thinking that too, but that really yanks the rug out from underneath Force Canada who thought they were gonna be a factory team.
