Merc couldn't get heat into the tires. Hasn't that been a persistent gripe for a long time? I think it is the other way around, Mercedes has historically had trouble with overheating the tires.

scuderiafans.com/amus-rivals-worried-ferrari-front-wing-concept/?fbclid=IwAR1_hnXEEsyM9OoG3Hjn5gL6A6LgcgfYyksKO4ai1doI1PjvJqMp0uTS8SoFormula 1 engineers have been surprised to see many different frontwing concepts this year, as the pre-season testing period began on Monday at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona. Did Ferrari get it right and Mercedes/Red Bull wrong? According to leading German automobile magazine Auto motor und sport (AMuS), Mercedes and Red Bull are analyzing the situation and try to stay calm, but the body language in both teams was a bit uneasy that Ferrari may have put on the right horse when it comes to the front wing concept and they not. Both now take a closer look at the concept of the opponent. Should Ferrari’s front wing concept be the right one, Mercedes and Red Bull have a problem, Mercedes more than Red Bull. According to Auto motor und sport, any team that wants to convert from the Mercedes-type wing to a Ferrari wing, must also change the rest of the car, which would take weeks to match the data and produce the new concept.

Hadn't seen this before today but the rear lights, wing supports and tail light, normally flash red for harvesting or if it's raining will also flash green when a rookie or a Friday driver is in the car.

Williams running around but not all the parts are there. In I think '09 and '10 Red Bull bagged the first week entirely claiming to use the extra time in development which I guess is another way of saying all the parts weren't ready. ![:innocent](//storage.proboards.com/6126830/images/eSPjqR6NzjOA80Zy3GQB.gif) Williams needs to get back into the lying game and stop creating pity.

The afternoon sessions this week have had been handled by the Sky broadcast team. Those bastards are now pimping a throwback race. If you want throwback spend your money going to an F1 vintage race somewhere.
Edit: It was Buxton in the booth again flapping his gums.

Haas brings out the red flag ending the day. Haas at this point are not getting in the laps to go with some decent times.

Its 53 degrees in Barcelona. The Renault engine loves the cool air that is never available during the race season.
Mercedes is a gorilla on ice skates during winter. I would not write them off just yet

^Previous years Renault's were always hot running power units compared to the Mercs, hopefully they addressed that with the all new setup. Lulu says this years car feels completely different over lasts which could mean it doesn't work as well on cooler tracks.

At this point all that really matters is who is putting down a lot of consistent laps.
Plus this about tire compounds. C5 is softest.
KVY – C5 RAI – C5 RIC – C4 VET – C3 VER – C3 HUL – C4 GRO – C3 FIT – C4 SAI – C3 PER – C3 BOT – C3 HAM – PROTO RUS – C3
