Any genius who wants NASCAR to "race" in the rain should sit and watch this.
Often a shit show on road courses, impossible on an oval.

Well of all the teams I was pulling for, Taylor/Alonso is still in it.... (red flag)...BMW/Zanardi had a rough race, Corvette stuggled, as did the Caterpillar team...

Everyone, including me, wants to see a complete race. But I don't think I've ever seen one where the question "Is it too wet to continue?" (or words to that effect) was answered 100% unanimously "Yes". Unless I missed one, today is the day. That they are running in a huge bowl that funnels the rain into the infield with nowhere to go is an inescapable fact here.
Oh, and I'm about 29 minutes behind on the DVR, but I don't foresee any big change coming.

So, whatever happened to the miracle Nascar track drying system.....remember that??? That is only after it quits raining. And of course it is made to dry the banked oval, which drains itself anyway.
What they're looking at here is basically draining a bathtub while the faucet is still open. Where's that damned plug?

So it took them over an hour to make the decision, 10 minutes before the race was over anyhow.

WEC race direction did the same thing at Fuji in 2017 when they called that race with 20 minutes to go after a long red flag.

Congrats to all the survivors!
I have never raced Daytona in the wet. It looks like NASCAR when they repaved the track gave no thought to drainage in the areas of T1 going into the infield or to the Bus Stop.
From my highway driving I know there are multiple types of asphalt - some drain well in the rain and some don't drain at all and just create puddles. I don't know what kind NASCAR chose for the Daytona repave.
