Toto has also come out with a trashing of the story. Meh.................................All these denials means it's on. Toto did say a few months back that lulu may have to leave to get #8.

Honestly who at this time would think that going to Ferrari would secure him his 8th title? I am a Ferrari fan and I think it is pure horsehockey. At this point the only team on the grid that could give him a legitimate chance for #8 would be Red Bull, and they are simply not going to do it. Right now Lewis is slipping to #2 at Merc. Young George has been out qualifying Lewis this season, and he has finished higher than Hamilton twice out of 5 races. So if I was a multi-time Champion intent on finding a better team, I would need to make sure I take care of business with my current team. Lewis simply has not. So it makes no sense for a team to drop big bucks on a driver that appears to be at the end of his career. The first race of the year the ferrari top brass was in the ferrari pits. Elkann maybe. When Leclerc's car quit he threw his hat or drink down and stormed off. The team is broken. The corporate guys are trying to run things. They don't have a clue. When Jean ran the team he kept everyone out. Even Luca. The only time ya saw Luca at a race was at Monza. Changing team principals every 2-3 years won't work.

Are there red cars really any better than the silver (black) ones now are going forward? I don't think so, if Lulu leaves he's doing so to get away from George

I was just thinking about how everyone (I think) assumes that Fernando will win a race this year. The AM is not as fast as the RB, but he's up close to the front to take advantage of any slip. It made me wonder what the impact would be on Alonso if he did not, in fact, stand on the top step all year despite being so close. Would be a blow, for sure.

I wouldn't offer him 2 years either with all of his 'the front wing is damaged I think our race is over' BS!! It seems to me he keeps trying to find ways to quit the race instead of making the best of what he has, most drivers would kill, some probably literally, to be in his position at Mercedes yet he seems to take it as a Sunday drive when things don't go perfectly.

He knows it would take something(s) bad happening for probably both RBR cars in order for him to win. His best chances are in the next two races. IMHO, getting P3 in the WDC would be huge for him.

I also think he's hoping they can bring updates a bit faster to keep the car competitive with the front runners.

Ferrari couldn't win with Max, they sure aren't winning with Hamilton. They will have the 4th best car at the end of the season. I think it really kinda depends on the car design and the driver and how they get along together, remember Vettel won at Red Bull when they did the 'blown rear' but once it was outlawed and he went to Ferrari he wasn't nearly as good. I think if Ferrari's car can be flexible enough to work with Lewis's style of driving then it could work, but if the Ferrari is not designed with Lewis's 'style' in mind then he might as well stay where he is and just help George win. Ferrari will continue to have issues as long as the CEO who knows literally nothing about running a race team sticke his nose in the business. Lewis will be just as frustrated in Red ans he is in silver currently

Not to worry. 40 million whatever is not an offer he won't refuse.
I think he wants money coming in long term i.e. after he retires. Only Merc has that in its portfolio.

So, I guess the focus at Merc is to give Ham what he wants and let Russell have what's left in the kitty.

I don't see Mercedes or anyone catching Red Bull until the new regulations. Some teams might get an occasional win but Max in that car is way faster than everyone when they run full out

FWIW Russell is said to be making 8 million this year and will get a deserved raise in pay. In fact, some rumors report he already has signed a contract tba in due time.
Hamilton will get a contract much higher than that. Being that they are both Brits (sort of) Silverstone might be the timeline for announcements.

If it's the first he will never get it with Lance in the car....
