It wasn't a grid penalty. Time was disallowed because of a technical infringement. Using your thinking anybody who improves their position in the sprint race should give those positions back. No they get points for it but any penalties incurred before or afterwards should be given in the Official 'race' not the Sprint. Sure use whatever measure you want to figure out who lines up where for the Sprint but since even the FIA doesn't call it a 'race' it shouldn't incur penalties instead of one. Personally, I think all penalties should be applied after the race is over on Sundays.  |

The new Sprint points regs are rather interesting from a Team points view. If Teammates finish 1-2 in the Sprint and the Sunday race, a Team would be awarded the points as if they finished 1,2,3 in the Sunday race. 15 extra WCC points are on offer. I'd love to see Scuderia Ferrari come out of the weekend with total max points. 8+7+25+18+1=59.  Damn. I think I jinxed Ferrari.  |

Quali.........................That was pretty much a farce. These new cars don't seem very friendly so far in the wet. They are OK in the wet until they get on the painted lines. I guess in the wet, painted lines do enforce track limits. |

I guess in the wet, painted lines do enforce track limits. That's always been the case. I think the cars are set up for the weekend when it's expected to be drier. The stiff suspensions to cope with ground effects along with the new stiffer sidewall tires kill their handling in the wet. The wet tires just never get warm. There's a learning curve and these were the first wet sessions. Also these are overweight pigs. |
