To me, driver of the day was Niko Rosberg. WHY you ask? The way he dissed and then piled on Lewis Hamilton while talking to Croft on the Sky broadcast was just awesome. He just kept piling on and piling on, making Dave Croft say "I agree with you" several times. Oh how sweet he must have felt just then, Yep. Nico is quite adept at highlighting Lewis's shortcomings (you know, telling the truth about him) in a way that doesn't leave him open to accusations of taking unsolicited shots at him. And I love it.

And I love it. Ah yes - it was nice in 2016. But I could see terrible storms in the near future so I retired so others fight the storms that likely would have overwhelmed me. No sense seeking defeat after a unexpected victory.

No sense seeking defeat after a unexpected victory. I've always thought that Nico's sudden 'retirement' was a mutual parting of ways. He was upsetting Lewis's apple cart far too much for their liking.

I still think Mercedes was paying Rosberg after he left.

Nico featured he couldn't beat Hamilton again - he hadn't beat him much if any during their rise to F1 - Beat LH and retire, that's the ticket!

I still think Mercedes was paying Rosberg after he left. There could easily have been some deferred payments until after he left Mercedes, I don't believe there's any reason why they couldn't do that in his contract, in fact that may be something the FIA has to take into consideration if driver salaries get covered by the 'budget cap'. Not the fact that it's deferred but the fact that they ARE paying him post employment to keep themselves under the budget cap this season. I mean pay the driver $10Million this year which keeps them under the cap but defer an additional $20Million that isn't covered.
