Why didn't Hamilton want to go to the slicks?, said it was too early. But other drivers did and it was the right move. Lewis made the wrong call. had lulu jumped to slicks when they as asked him he prolly would have jumped a place or two.

Alonso & Vettel. But both are in midfield cars so any calls they'd make we prolly wouldn't hear about it.

The only problem I ever have is by the time the TV director cues up the radio message the story is usually irrelevant to the action.

The change to slicks really didn't matter, the Merc in the hands of Hamilton was a dead fish in the race. The Merc #1 driver got everything he could from the car and circumstances. Scuderia Ferrari drivers #1& #2 didn't get all the car and circumstances could get today. Max was going to win and both Ferrari drivers should have been racing Perez for podium placements.

LOL, Lewis. Not able to get past a customer car driven by Lance Stroll, then finishing P14 on track & 10 positions behind his new teammate after 2 cars ahead retire. Not a great look for Mercedes. I really think he doesn't even want to be there, because he was planning to win #8 last year & then retire.

And Alonso was parked by the time the tire call came into question. Yep. It's like the Spaniards had bullseyes on 'em going into that chicane. I'm also starting to suspect the Mick experiment is nearing completion. He definitely seems like a good kid. It was easy to hide his mistakes last year with little Nikita in the other seat. And Latifi needs to go.

I'd give it to George. He took that pig of a car to 4th. George is showing them who the #1 Mercedes driver is when he finished nine places ahead of the #2 Merc driver. It was 10 places on the track - before the Ocon penalty was applied, and after 2 cars between them retired. He could easily have finished 16th, 12 places behind his team leader.

To me, driver of the day was Niko Rosberg. WHY you ask? The way he dissed and then piled on Lewis Hamilton while talking to Croft on the Sky broadcast was just awesome. He just kept piling on and piling on, making Dave Croft say "I agree with you" several times. Oh how sweet he must have felt just then, Yep. Nico is quite adept at highlighting Lewis's shortcomings (you know, telling the truth about him) in a way that doesn't leave him open to accusations of taking unsolicited shots at him. And I love it.

He id off to a rough start for sure, but I will hold off Judgement until the midpoint of the season. Latifi is clearly out of his depth and i suspoect will be gone after this this season unless Williams is still that desperate for money

during the post race show on espn they showed max, checo, and lando talking in the room behind the podium. with a 60 inch or bigger monitor behind them showing the highlights. someone asked what happened to leclerc. someone else said he hit the 1st curd to hard and then he lost it on the second curb. then lando says i never even touched the white lines there. he's laughing as he said it. max and checo both nodded their heads. :-)

How many points did they lose chasing that solo point?

Can someone tell me why in Formula 1, marshals are not allowed to push a car beached in the sand trap out and back into the race? Just curious (and lazy) about the rationale. Read somewhere that they changed the rule for safety reasons back in 2007. After the race where the crane lifted Lewis' car back on track. Iirc, Liuzzi? slid into the gravel and hit the crane? That would've been at Suzuka when Jules Bianchi died after going off the track and hitting the crane parked there. "Olderguysrule" said; "if alonso and sainz didn't have bad luck they wouldn't have any luck at all" It's a Spanish Thing. Regarding the race, Ferrari still manages to eff things up when they should know better. Lame mistake by Leclerc; an unforced error that nearly cost him more than the surrender of 3rd and possibly 2nd place. Screw the single point for fastest lap, instead of 18 or a guaranteed 15 he earned less than half that for chump-o'-the-day. Completely uninspired effort from Lewis - - again. He's only managing to illuminate what so many of his detractors have known for many years now; the mantle of GOAT is as unfounded as the "knowledge" of his ardent and sycophantically misguided fans. Perhaps the most nauseating moment regarding him yesterday was Toto's apology to him over the radio at the conclusion of his "race"; stating that the team let him down. But Lewis isn't that dumb, surely he's wallowing in self-pity yet is keenly aware that George has been taking it to him and showing no pity whatsoever. Exactly as it should be! If Imola was a little wider there would have been better overtaking, as a few drivers made creative use of strategically placing their cars in the middle of the track thus preventing the overtake near the end of the straightaway. The officials also waited too long before allowing the use of DRS. Now the question is, will Ferrari recover or stumble over themselves? That one in their backyard hurt and it showed all over Piero's face!
