The Circuit Of The Americas is the first purpose-built Grand Prix facility in the U.S. near Austin, Texas, with a 5.513km track and a capacity for 120,000 fans. Construction of the impressive 1000-acre facility was completed late in 2012, with MotoGP lining up at the track for the first time in 2013. One of its more distinctive features is near 41m-elevation change with an impressive incline at the end of the home-straight followed by a sharp left. The circuit is one of the most varied on the GP circuit, with a mix of fast straights and tight hairpins, with most sections mirroring at least some part of a famous track around the world. It was designed by well-known German architect and circuit designer Hermann Tilke. The driving direction is counter clockwise and has a total of 20 corners with 9 right turns and 11 left turns. but I'm sure that you knew that

Pol Espargaró wants to redeem himself in Austin: "It's time to get more points in the standings and start building something"
Miller ‘turning season around’ in Texas: “I’m happy to get back on track this weekend and put the Argentina race behind me,” Miller admitted ahead of the Austin weekend. “The last GP was strange: we hadn’t raced at Termas for two years, and we struggled a bit with such a tight schedule. “Now we go back to Texas for the GP of the Americas at a track that I like and where, in general, I can be fast. I’m determined to do well and finally turn my season around.”
Quartararo ‘on the attack’ for the AmericasGP: “Austin played a key part in my championship win last year,”Quartararo confirmed from the lone star state. “That second place was like a victory because it gave me my first match point to secure the championship. This time we arrive here in a totally different situation and with a different mindset. “Last year I always tried to win, but I was also trying to keep the lead in the championship,” he continued. “We can afford to be more on the attack now. We will do our best as always"
Mir: "I don't have many good memories of Texas, my best result is fourth but it's an incredible circuit"
Aleix Espargaró: «We have been constant and this is shown by the fact that we are also leading the championship»

Mat Oxley: More from MM. "I asked my doctor what will happen if I stop for 1 year. He said I'll have the the same risk in 1 year or 3 years. It’s one of my weak points but I can't think that I can't crash. It’s a risk but it’s my passion & I’m here to race, not to think about the injury." Those who question why MM continues despite his vision issues fail to understand 2 things: 1 these guys live for what they do, they are essentially addicts, if you prefer; 2 they risk much worse than having visions problems every time they go out on track. TT riders even more so
Fast start for cameronbeaubier as he ends FP1 with second fastest time at COTA. Adrian Fernandez leads the way with a 2:10.489, just .036 faster than Beaubier.
Joerobertsracer 11th with SeanDylanKelly 25th.
Mir: "Not that the team didn't work well before, let's be clear, and I know that Livio certainly didn't come here to upset the situation, but knowing that he is there I think has improved things."
Rins: "Marc will be among the opponents to beat. Last year he didn't show everything he is capable of during qualifying, but then in the race his pace was different. Suzuki did well here in the past but this year ...
Miller, hurt with Ducati: "There comes a time when you start to doubt and wonder what's going on"

Mat Oxley: Although front shapeshifters are banned from end of '22, Ducati they're presssing ahead, which suggests they're making progress. At Mandalika only Zarco had the unit, here Zarco, Martin & Bagnaia have the kit fitted. This is Zarco's bike... In fact that was Martin's bike, but anyway, shows Ducati are pushing hard with the tech. This is Bagnaia's bike. Note the factory team has made a vague attempt to disguise the accumulator, a hydraulic pressure storage reservoir that displaces fork fluid to drop the front end The accumulator obvs needs to be twinned with the correct forks with the shapeshifter actuator, so the accumulator doesn't actually mean the riders are using the system all the time. A lot of fork changes going on as riders switch back and forth
