"But further, the Stewards observed that Car 33 was not at all alongside Car 44 until significantly into the entry into Turn 1. In the opinion of the Stewards, this manoeuvre was attempted too late for the driver of Car 33 to have the right to racing room". So Max didn't deserve racing room in the next corner where the incident actually took place? How does this work? BULL

You have to watch this on YouTube but I have no idea what the stewards are talking about. Max was well alongside Lewis at turn in. They are idiots.

Once again, somebody tell me why we don't like Sprint Quali? Everything that was actually exciting and part of the unknown about this race was triggered by the results of the Sprint. Since when did you become Ross Brawn's pimp?

I admit it, I jumped in the air when Max and Lewis collided, it was cool. By the time I landed it was all oh............................McLaren.

Glad Lewis is ok. Furk, if that wheel had been spinning ... I don't even wanna think about it, really.
The penalty on Max is bullshit though. Racing incident, just like Di Resta said.

Exactly. It's just bizarre. I kinda don't know what to think about any incident any more. It was pretty much as good of an example of a racing incident as I've ever seen. If any penalty was going to be given, I thought it would go to Lewis. But I really thought it would be a racing incident. Either a Lewis penalty or a racing incident were easy to justify. A Max penalty ... I just don't see how. tl;dr: F1 stewarding is a fucking joke.

BTW the real cause of that crash, as Brundle was alluding to, was the orange sausage kerb. If that's not there, they likely race out of the turn side by side, and Lewis probably pulls back ahead with more power.

This was genuinely an entertaining race at points. Penalising Max is just insane.

Yep. I've never liked drivers being able to run the other guy off on exit, & some of the older drivers don't like it either, but F1 & the FIA have allowed it to continue - to the point of now penalizing a driver who's alongside for not letting the other guy force him off. It's just bizarre.
Put it this way: Had Lewis stuck to his line on lap 1 and a collision had occurred because Max didn't give him room, then I don't see how a penalty on Lewis could have been justified, just as Max's penalty is not justified. It should be a racing incident, imho, just as I and every F1 pundit I've seen so far has said (all Brits).

I would really like to see a translation of what Riccardo said. It was very funny how it caught Coultard flat footed and he did not know that he spoke Italian. I heard Ferrari mentioned in there. I have always liked him and thought he was a "good guy" he proved it today.
I too thought that it was a racing incident between Hamilton and Verstoppen. At some point they need to let races play out and stop the over analyzing of incidents. Did Max want to crash Lewis, no. Did Lewis want to crash out Max, maybe, but I doubt it. It should have been a wash.

Did HAM pinch VER into the curb? Looks to me like he did! I think so, it was payback for the first turn first lap, but it blew up in his face. Max was all the way inside and Lewis was still on the apex. Ham was fresh out of the pits and slide wide out of turn one on his not up to temp tires so i can't say he intentionally ran max wide, but he did turn into the second turn earlier than he needed to and that's when they hit.

Had Sir lulu let max thru they woulda been nose to tail. and down behind cars that were somewhat slower. Lulu could have gotten max in traffic. Or at the worst maybe finished behind and lost another point or 2. Instead he took maxie out and himself. And he'll prolly get dinged because he gave maxie no room. He prolly figured it would be Silverstone all over again. Take out maxie, stay in the race and score points. Lulu had the perfect cut back handed to him on a plate and he muffed it by turning in too soon, Maxs' first lap hip check had him completely snakebite.

Zak is the Ted Lasso of racing. He brought in American coolness to a buttoned-up stuck up British team in decline You'll never hear THAT from the Brit press.

For Macca and Ricci for Lulu and Max's clash for Lulu not getting hurt. For Max's penalty.

OBTW ... no penalty for Mini Stroll after blatantly ignoring yellow flags. WTF? Fernando was not gruntled. "Yellow = accelerate. Green = yellow. You always learn something new in each race".
