For the most part other forms of racing like the WEC are running low profile tires and wheels (18") and have done so for many years. Even the Indycar size is a couple inches bigger around than the hoops used in F1. The teams by postponing the 18" change may have contributed to the problem. As far as I'm concerned the 13 inch wheel should have been thrown out with the pre 2017 regs, the cars are too long and heavy and create too much down force and wheel toque for such an out of date package to handle. People here are complaining Pirelli should make better tires but aren't understanding hat that takes, one of my trucks has 19.5 inch wheels with 14 ply tires running at 80 psi to handle the weight it's built to carry. Those tires weigh over 75 lbs each and have a max speed rating of 78 mph. That's the limits of their design just like Pirellli's F1 rubber, if I decide to run them soft to improve the ride I'm not going to be able to carry 3 1/2 tons without risking failure from overheating. Pirelli mandated min pressures and the FIA max tire blanket warming temps for the same reason, if the teams are hacking their pressure (and I have no doubt temp) sensors to gain and edge thats a problem they're creating for themselves.

As far as I'm concerned the 13 inch wheel should have been thrown out with the pre 2017 regs The F1 teams have been resisting change from the 13" wheels/tires for too long with the weak argument that the compliance of the tall sidewalls is "part of the suspension" and that changing to modern low-profile tires would somehow "put them out".

Maybe it's got to do with how they depend upon how they can manipulate the tires pressures and sidewall rolling to make their cars more compliant over the curbs and barriers the various tracks keep putting up to slow the cars down.

I think that is happening.

I think that is happening. Yes! I went to the ' bother' of looking for information regarding the upcoming rules changes and found that issues are being addressed. I didn't want to be ignorant wilfully - "The worst way".

I think that is happening. As of now it's in the regulations to happen in 2024.

Surprised the FIA isn't inserting themselves as the 'official' inflation gas supplier for the teams.

Surprised the FIA isn't inserting themselves as the 'official' inflation gas supplier for the teams. IMO...that's a pretty good idea. I'm surprised Saint Ross hasn't thought of it as he fixes everything.

Back to the tire warmers ban ...........................how long will it take the F1 engineers to come up with a magic button warmer?

Back to the tire warmers ban ...........................how long will it take the F1 engineers to come up with a magic button warmer? Lewis warmed up is fronts well enough for the restart. One thing banning tire warmers would force is a sufficient pace once getting on track to work heat into the tires from cornering and braking. Maybe even stop the 'backing up from the preceding car' to get a good time.

The out lap from the pits in the race is the only time warmers will be missed.

Surprised the FIA isn't inserting themselves as the 'official' inflation gas supplier for the teams. I suggest methane for FIA gas.

^ Well that link goes nowhere. What was the change? An arrow that says do not push? When the F1TV page pops up click on the F1 logo in the upper left, it';ll take you to the home page
