Especially after what Leclerc said in interview. It wasn't even the gearbox per say. It was the driveshafts. And damage you couldn't see. In what stupid universe, do you not change them out, even if you have to take a grid payment. "... and damage you couldn't see ..." It was the left driveshaft: "Ferrari then confirmed the news, saying: "Charles will not start the race due to an issue with the left driveshaft which is impossible to fix in time for the start of the race.""
Taking a grid penalty for unknown, invisible damage would be absolutely stupid. And a fireable offense for Binotto. The GEARBOX was the gamble - they driveshafts should not have been. |
