Watched the documentary 'Williams' on Netflix the other night. Interesting, especially the family dynamic.

I think Williams will be gone in a couple of years or sold to someone else at a higher price than what this PE firm bought them for. That is what PE firms exist for. There is no long term plan here. It is how quick can we turn a profit on this hot mess. $$$$$$$$$$
Also, bye bye Claire. They would be dumb to keep her.

152 million Euro is about what Mercedes spend on Wurst every year excluding the vegan variety for Ham of course.

Williams F1 sold to US investment company Dorilton Capital Racing team has been under financial pressure due to heavy losses and Covid-19 pandemicThe Williams Formula One racing team has been sold to US investment firm Dorilton Capital, after 43 years as a family-owned outfit. The company has wrestled with heavy losses and the increased pressure caused by coronavirus, opting to put itself up for sale in May to secure the future of a team that is still one of the most successful in F1 history. “This is the end of an era for Williams as a family-owned team, but we know it is in good hands,” said deputy team principal Claire Williams, the daughter of Sir Frank Williams, who founded the team in 1977 and is still team principal at 78. “It ensures the team’s survival, but importantly provides a path to success.” In a statement on the Williams website, Dorilton said it had no plans to move the company from its home in Grove, Oxfordshire. www.theguardian.com/sport/2020/aug/21/williams-f1-sold-to-us-investment-company-dorilton-capital

Its going to take a lot of work and money to make Williams competitive again. It will take a 'on the ball' lead designer/engineer to plot the path as Patrick Head did in Williams glory years.

....BTW... Hurry up the McLaren bankruptcy dammit. Don't worry it's coming one way or another. If a Bahrainian bank hadn't stepped up and made an unsecured, and basically an illegal loan, to save the National Wealth Fund's McLaren investment it would have happened already.

Its going to take a lot of work and money to make Williams competitive again. It really provides the sense of scale of how much money billionaires have. $150M is a lot of money but for someone with $1B it is a drop in the bucket. Bezos wouldn't even notice it was gone.

Someone has been saying 'good enough' for waaay too long over there and they need to figure who they are and move them along. So fire most of the team? In the F1 world I would imagine their staff is miniscule compared to Ferrari and Mercedes. One would ASSume if they had good management they would have identified someone inside the team that has above average skills and promoted them. Then again most corporations are so risk adverse anymore when someone has an out of the box idea it is easier to lock them in a closet or fire them..... Anyone ever wonder why technical innovation has basically come to a screeching halt.... When people get excited about a new "feature" on an iphone that Samsung introduced years earlier that should tell us something about the state of technical innovation in the world.

They'll be no innovation from one of the minnows, 1st they don't have the money, 2nd if the idea turns out to be worth a damn the bigger teams will have it on their cars by mid season. But the big reason is they'll be right back where they started from once the FIA bans it for the next season.
