Intensive care in serious condition. Alex has overcame everything after his near fatal accident at Lausitzring and now this. I seriously hope he's ok. 2020 needs to be thrown in the trash.

They said maxillary specialist was involved. As a road cyclist, I have crashed a few times and ten years ago, I fractured my maxillary sinus cavity in a wreck. Luckily, mine wasn't displaced so I didn't need surgery. However, dead blood lingers in there and a few weeks later I was reading a magazine or something when without warning that dead blood pumped out of my left nostril.😳 What mess.😖

Alex has to pull thru so he can add a few more chapters to his book, My Sweetest Victory.

Well crap. You would think one life changing crash would be enough. Best wishes for a complete and speedy recovery.

Alex Zanardi: Doctors begin process of bringing ex-Formula 1 driver out of coma
Doctors at the hospital treating ex-Formula 1 driver Alex Zanardi have begun the process of bringing him out a medically induced coma.
The 53-year-old Italian, a four-time Paralympic gold medallist, suffered severe head injuries in a crash with a lorry on his hand cycle on 19 June.
A statement from the Aou Senese Hospital in Siena where he is being treated said his neurological condition remained “serious” and that it would take “a few days” to complete “further evaluation”.
Zanardi’s prognosis remains confidential and a further update will be issued next week, the statement said.

Zanardi transferred to Padua hospitalSome five months after the road accident that left him with critical head injuries, Alex Zanardi has been transferred to a hospital in Padua, Italy nearer to his home to continue his recovery. The IndyCar champ and F1 racer lost both his legs in an IndyCar crash in 2001, but went on to become a Paralympic gold medalist in hand cycling and also returned to racing in touring and GT cars equipped with hand controls. Zanardi has been undergoing treatment at the San Raffaelle hospital in Milan since an early attempt to transfer him to a rehabilitation center was unsuccessful. Now, however, doctors feel confident enough in the 54-year-old’s condition to permit the move. “The patient has reached a generally stable physical and neurological condition that permitted his transfer to another hospital equipped with all the necessary clinical specialties and closer to the family home,” the San Raffaele hospital announced in a statement to the media. Zanardi was seriously injured on June 19 when he collided with a truck while competing in a hand cycle event in Tuscany. He has undergone several craniofacial reconstruction surgeries since the accident. racer.com/2020/11/22/zanardi-transferred-to-padua-hospital/?fbclid=IwAR2vSoVpBbf7nNlewWOKTcaCEOVbNxbzrUlg_8fwE2ltTwTMVkUPecq-7-Y

Doesn't ask or answer the real question. Yet may well encompass all that is known. More is known within the tight family/doctor circle than is being shared with the public.
