Yet may well encompass all that is known. More is known within the tight family/doctor circle than is being shared with the public. I think that is implied in any case like this. As it should be.
What business is it of ours if they choose to keep some things to themselves?

Zanardi regaining senses, responding to stimuliAlex Zanardi has regained his sight and hearing and is able to give non-verbal responses to questions as he continues his recovery from injuries and subsequent surgeries following a handcycle crash in June. According to Italy’s Corriere della Sera, the 54-year-old is able to respond to questions with gestures, shake hands and recognizes his wife Daniela. He remains unable to speak due to a hole in his trachea that is being kept open as a precaution, however Corriere reports that Zanardi’s medical team view these latest signs of progress as encouraging for his prospects of regaining the majority of his brain function. racer.com/2020/12/21/zanardi-regaining-senses-responding-to-stimuli/?fbclid=IwAR078jnVSiWs5PgZISk-PEu3oNYSTuJPWAjjIKNsuZGidM9HL5cP03QFZ7s

Zanardi Working on Second Miracle Recovery You may have noticed this admittedly random list approximately follows the calendar, so it is wonderful to have some good news to end the year. And that’s the reports from Italy that Alex Zanardi, who lost his legs in an IndyCar crash in in Germany in 2001 and came back to drive in the 2019 Rolex 24 at Daytona, and then had a horrific crash on his paracycle this past summer, is out of a coma and responding to commands, and can shake hands. Zanardi seemed close to death, again, after the paracyle crash in June in Italy, where he was racing, and soon the best that seemed possible might be life without ever waking up. And if he did, he’d be blind, but he has regained his sight, too. I’ve had some enriching experiences in motorsports, but the 30 minutes I spent with Zanardi at Daytona last year—that’s on my top 10 list. What kind of guy is he? Daytona offered to fly him and his family back to the Rolex 24 this year to be the grand marshal, and he declined. He said he definitely wanted to come back, but as a driver, and until then he’ll pass. Miracles happen—he has proved that twice already.

Zanardi regains sight and hearing following accident – reportsFormer Formula 1 driver and two-time CART champion Alex Zanardi has reportedly regained his sight and hearing, months after he was involved in an accident during a handbike race. Zanardi, a multiple Paralympic gold medalist, who lost his legs in a motorsport crash in 2001, was competing in the Obiettivo Tricolore handbike race on June 19 when he veered into oncoming traffic. Witnesses at the scene said his bike overturned and was hit by a truck. He has since undergone extensive surgeries to rebuild his face and skull and was placed into a medically-induced coma. A month later his sedation was reduced and he was brought out of the coma. His condition initially deteriorated, forcing doctors to move him to the San Raffaele Hospital – the third different hospital to treat him – where they completed further surgery as a result of “late complications due to the primal head injury.” The Italian is currently undergoing neurological rehabilitation at the Padua University Hospital where his condition has improved significantly according to a report in Italy’s Corriere della Sera newspaper. Doctors confirmed to the paper that Zanardi was able to shake hands on demand and raise his thumb in response to questions. He is also able to recognise his wife Daniela, who makes daily visits. He has recovered his sight and hearing, although remains unable to talk due to a hole in his trachea, which doctors are keeping open as a precaution. Doctors are reported to be confident that Zanardi will recover the majority of his brain functions with further rehabilitation. www.motorsportweek.com/2020/12/22/zanardi-regains-sight-and-hearing-following-accident-reports/?fbclid=IwAR1ZSeumjs7Xo7yUBtgnmMtqzshKUsI8YlmcSho1IoRQXNNQs1Rtr8wOR0I

Former IndyCar Champion Alex Zanardi Is Reportedly Speaking AgainMonths after getting hit by a truck while hand-cycling, Alex Zanardi seems to be making a remarkable recovery. The Drive brought our attention to a story from Italian outlet Autosprint, which says that after successful surgery, Zanardi is once again able to speak. "It was a great emotion when he started talking, no one believed it. He was there! And he communicated with his family," the surgeon, Dr. Federica Alemanno said. Of course, this isn't the first extraordinary recovery Zanardi has made. After losing his legs in a horrific IndyCar crash in 2001, Zanardi eventually took up hand cycling, becoming a Paralympic gold medalist, and returned to racing sports and touring cars with hand controls. www.autoweek.com/racing/indycar/a35234066/former-indycar-champion-alex-zanardi-is-reportedly-speaking-again/?utm_source=facebook&utm_campaign=socialflowFBAW&utm_medium=social-media&fbclid=IwAR0S66tsomFSKx3SK1pPFvt0l3FsghOWN3VtaFNxs1MSvP7LnDUapA_TR4g

Alex Zanardi, Our Hero, Is Still FightingA little over a year has passed since Alex Zanardi's terrifying accident at a handcycling race in his native Italy, and it's been a few months since we've received an update on his condition. Today, BMW released an interview with Alex's wife, Daniella, where she revealed that, while the racer's road to recovery is long, Zanardi is still fighting. "One year after the accident, Alex's condition is essentially stable," Daniella Zanardi said. "He is currently in a special clinic, where he is undergoing a rehabilitation program. This includes multimodal and pharmacological stimulations under the guidance of doctors, physiotherapists, neuropsychologists and speech therapists to try to facilitate his recovery." Zanardi has had multiple neurosurgeries since the accident, and while he can communicate, he cannot currently speak. "After a long time in a coma, the vocal cords must regain their elasticity," Daniella Zanardi said. "This is only possible through practice and therapy." She added that Alex "still has a lot of strength in his arms and hands, and is training intensively on the equipment." Given the severity of Zanardi's crash last year, this is a positive report, though it's clear the racer still has a long recovery ahead. We know Zanardi has what it takes to persevere. Remember, this is the man who lost both legs in a 2001 CART crash, endured a grueling and complex rehabilitation program, learned to walk on prosthetic legs, and successfully returned to motorsports—while also becoming one of the world's most successful handcycling racers, adding four Paralympic gold medals to his trophy case. He's a fighter, through and through. www.roadandtrack.com/news/a36901587/alex-zanardi-update-july-2021/?source=nl&utm_source=nl_rdt&utm_medium=email&date=070121&utm_campaign=nl24227694&utm_term=AAA%20--%20High%20Minus%20Dormant%20and%2090%20Day%20Non%20Openers
