After a nightmarish Race 1 start. Both Cameron Das and Kaylen Frederick found themselves in the points column. During the latest Euro Formula Open round, Baltimore's Das found consolation in the podium in race 2 at Monza this weekend after failing to complete his race in Race 1 after finding himself colliding with Guillaume Samaia and Christian Hahn in lap 2 end his day after smashing his left front suspension at the Variante di Retiffilo chicane. Atlanta's Dev Gore scores his maiden points with a 9th place finish in the race. Frederick turned his race to a driving session going 2 laps down with a P12. But in Race 2, Das made amends thanks to 2 safety car sessions and some traffic collisions after taking a 3rd place podium. Frederick - A Potomac, MD native - made his 1st impression with a 5th place finish and a 2nd place in the rookie's podium earning him his 1st 11 points in the series. Dev Gore survived a drive-thru enabling to finish 10th and another point. Felipe Drugovich would sweep the weekend and clinch the series championship with 2 rounds to go. After 6 rounds, Drugovich can no longer be reached with a 126 point lead over Bent Viscaal (301-175). It is followed by Matheus Iorio, Marcos Siebert, and Das completing the top 5. Frederick score moves him to 15th. Gore moves to 19th. Despite his absence, New Yorker Yves Baltas stays in 14th as they head up west to Spain for the final 2 rounds of the championship. www.euroformulaopen.net/en/https://www.instagram.com/p/BoE5qlbgSeN In F3 Asia, Fremont, Cal. native Jaden Conwright just salvaged his weekend after scoring a 3rd place podium in race 3 at Shanghai. He finished 6th in race 1 and a 5th in race 2. FIA F3 Europe regular Jake Hughes makes his return scoring another hat trick. After 3 rounds, it is Hughes with a 12-point lead over Raoul Hyman (150-138), Conwright stays 20 behind Hyman. Charles Leong and Akash Nandy remain in the top 5 as the series returns to Ningbo next month. www.f3asia.comIn the Formula Renault Eurocup, Logan Sargeant and Neil Verhagen have scored top 10 finishes at the Hockenheimring. Boca Raton, Florida's Sargeant gets 2 top 5 finished with a 4th in race 1 and a 5th in race 2. Mooresville, NC native Verhagen has finally reached the points column with a 6th in race 1 and a 7th in race 2 as he is trying to not only salvaging a season, but a spot to remain in the Red Bull program. Max Fewtrell would sweep the weekend after the former series points leader Christian Lundgaard encountered trouble. Fewtrell holds a 21 point lead over Chinese driver Yifei Ye with Lundgaard dropping to 3rd. Sargeant moves now to 4th with Victor Martins completing the top 5 after a race 2 disaster. Verhagen goes 1 spot up to 12th as they will head out to the season finale at Catalunya. www.renaultsport.com

There were mixed results for our North American contention. Toronto's Nicholas Latifi managed to score a P2 result in Race 1 in the FIA F2 series at Sochi behind his DAMS teammate Alex Albon along with Nick De Vries who took the last podium spot. But Latifi's luck ran out after he collided with Alessandro Lorandi in turn 5 on the Race 2. Series leader George Russell took the top honors with Sergio Sette Camera and race 1 winner Albon. With the sprint win, Russell increases his lead over Albon (248-211), and are mathematically the only drivers in contention for the F2 title. Lando Norris, De Vries and Artem Markelov complete the top 5. Latifi keeps himself steady in 9th. www.fiaformula2.comIn GP3, it was a decent day for Florida-based driver Juan Manuel Correa for a double scoring weekend with a 9th place finish in Race 1 and a 5th in race 2. But for Oyster Bay, NY native Ryan Tveter was not fortunate. In Race 1, Tveter started the race in 5th only to go upside down when he was struck by Simo Laaksonen in turn 2 dropping him 15 spots only to throw in the towel before the white flag for a P18 finish. The only consolation for Ryan was that he was the fast mover for a P9 finish. Toronto's Devlin De Francesco could only go P17 in race 1 and a P12 in race 2. Mexico's Diego Menchaca best result was a P15 in race 1. Winner Leonardo Pulcini, Nikita Mazepin, and Anthoine Hubert were the top podium finishers in race 1. David Beckmann won the sprint race with Joey Mawson and Richard Verschoor joining the podium in race 2. Hubert and Mazepin are the only drivers who are mathematically in contention with Hubert holding a 32-point lead over the Russian driver (199-167) Callum Illot, Pulcini and Beckmann remain in the top 5. Tveter pretty much holding P9 in the point standings. Correa keeps steady in 13th as both series go to the final race after Thanksgiving at Abu Dhabi. And for the GP3 series - their final curtain call before merging with the FIA F3 Europe series to become the FIA F3 International championship in 2019. Http://www.gp3series.com

A very nice shout out for Baltimore's Cameron Das who just inherited a P6 in race 1 and a P4 in race 2 during the Euro Formula Open event at Jerez this weekend. In virtue of his top 10 finishes, Das has clinched a P5 series points finish. Atlanta's Dev Gore managed a P9 points finish in race 2. Once again Brazilian Felipe Drugovich trying to make a smashing statement for his 2019 campaign with another weekend sweep over Dutch driver Bent Viscaal. Drugovich already distanced himself from Viscaal with a 143 point margin (354-211). Brazilian Matheus Iorio, Argentinian Marcos Siebert and Das are 29 points apart for 3rd. The season will close out at Barcelona in 2 weeks time. www.euroformulaopen.net

Jaden Conwright managed to escape with a 3rd place in the point standings after surviving a drive-thru penalty for a false start in the F3 Asian Championship in Ningbo, China this weekend. Jake Hughes was never a threat once again with another trifeta. During race 1, the Fremont, Calif. native was playing catch-up with Hughes while trying to hold up Raoul Hayman for 2nd before heading to pit-lane to serve his drive-thru causing him to take a 6-place drop. But managed to finish in 6th. Hughes, and Hitech GP teammates Hyman and Charles Leong take their 3rd team sweep overall. Conwright finishes 4th for races 2 and 3. Hughes continues to hold a 33-point lead over Hyman (225-192). Conwright has a narrow 7 point margin over Leong (150-143) as the series heads back to the Sepang circuit for the season finale 2 days after Thanksgiving. Conwright is officially eliminated from title contention based on Hughes perfect season. Even with his absence in round 2. www.f3asia.com

Another US talent is making an audition. Guatemalan-American driver Brad Benavides will make his debut with Campos Racing in the final Euro Formula Open event at Barcelona. Benavides - a resident from a Broward County Florida town is also coming off from a 4th place finish in the WSK Champions Cup this year. This will be his test as he get his christening into open-wheel racing as an invite who will not score any points. www.euroformulaopen.net/en/news/3346/brad-benavides-set-to-make-euroformula-open-debut-with-campos-racing

The Formula Renault 2.0 series has officially come to an end. Not only for this season, but for the Eurocup chassis and the 2.0 engine. And what a great way do bid farewell to the car with Boca Raton Florida's Logan Sargeant who managed to win the final race at Barcelona in race 2 courtesy of polesitter Victor Martins who was caught napping at the start. Sargeant never looked back enroute for his 3rd win of the season over Dane driver Christian Lundgaard and Martins. But Briton Max Fewtrell came in 4th to become the final Formula Renault Eurocup series champion. Lundgaard was the race 1 winner over Sargeant and Lorenzo Colombo. Mooresville, NC native Neil Verhagen finished 7th on both races. With Fewtrell as the champion, Lundgaard finishes 2nd in the standings. And is also the Rookie champion. Chinese driver Yifei Ye finishes in 3rd followed by Sargeant who finishes 2nd in the rookie standings and 4th overall who was on a battle with Frenchman Martins in 5th. Sargeant is already part of team champion R-ace GP. Verhagen finishes 11th for the 2nd straight year. And he will await whether or not he will remain with the Red Bull program as sources from formulascout.com are reporting that Estonian driver Juri Vips who recently finished 4th in the FIA Formula 3 European championship this year is being courted by Red Bull. I consider that Verhagen is now on the bubble. We will wait and see. But he is also part of the Team USA Scholarship where he won in 2016. But prevented him from competing due that he was 15 at the time. www.renaultsport.comAlso in Barcelona, Cameron Das also placed a decent performance in the Euro Formula Open series. The Baltimore native manages to finish the season on a high note with a 6th in race 1 and a huge comeback after a collision with a 5th place in race 2. Series champion Felipe Drugovich leaves his exclamation mark in the series with another weekend sweep. Other US notables: Kaylen Frederick (Potomac, MD) Race 1 - 11th. Race 2- 9th. 14th in points. Dev Gore (Atlanta, GA) Race 1 - 14th (DNF). Race 2 - 10th. 17th in points. Brad Benavides (Florida based driver) - Race 1 - 9th. Race 2 - 9th. Guest driver (ineligible for points) Yves Baltas (New York, NY) DID NOT PARTICIPATE - 16th in points. And that is the season for these series. www.euroformulaopen.net

This is coming from the website Formula Scout where they are giving an exclusive once again regarding US-based talent that Haas F1 should acquire ever since their inception in 2016 and Santino Ferrucci after being dropped by Trident for unsportsmanlike conduct. A few RTI drivers made the list and they have provided the best 10 US drivers they should develop. So sad that Fremont, California's Jaden Conwright who is competing in the Formula 3 Asia series was left out. Same goes for Riverton, UT native Bruno Carneiro who only lasted just the Japan F3 season opener. Same would go for Neil Verhagen in an event where he could be left out of the Red Bull Junior program. Haas should give Neil a 2nd look. www.formulascout.com/ten-american-drivers-that-haas-should-be-supporting/45815There is also a topic from newsletter Statesman.com regarding Kyle Kirkwood and the finances of the cost ( The same very topic where funding is more demanding than talent ). Although he has hopes for something in Europe, he still has a free ride in Pro Mazda. A quote from Jeff Barrow - 1 of the managers of Honda Performance Development that over see F3 Americas and USF4: www.statesman.com/sports/20181019/kyle-kirkwood-is-us-hope-for-f1-but-cost-is-high

A season well accomplished: Fremont, Calif. native Jaden Conwright salvages the best for last with a 3rd-place finish in Race 3 in the 5th and final round of the FIA F3 Asian championship at Sepang. Conwright had to be ahead of Hitech GP driver Charles Leong to clinch 3rd in the series. He also scored a 6th in race 1. But he would go wide in race 2 dropping him to 14th. Newcomer from New Zealand Liam Lawson would sweep all races. With the commitment of Jake Hughes to remain in the final GP3 final round, former British F3 driver Raoul Hyman manages to squeak by with the series championship by 2 points (227-225). Conwright stays a beyond distant 3rd with 173. Leong and Tomoki Takahashi complete the top 5. www.f3asia.comIn Abu Dhabi, the final race for the GP3 series was pure drama. Florida-based driver Juan Manuel Correa quest for his 1st win in the final season of the GP3 series went south in race 2 after he was caught violating the speed limits of the VSC dropping him to 6th in the race. Just after he scored an 8th-place finish in race 1 thus earning him the pole. ?Nikita Mazepin goes on to score the final GP3 sprint win of the series. Leo Pulcini gets to win the feature win with Antoine hubert clinching the final series championship. Oyster Bay, NY native Ryan Tveter salvages a 5th-place finish in race 2 following a major crash that took a few major contenders. Tveter finished 11th in race 1. Toronto's Devlin De Francesco finished 17th in race 1 and an 11th in race 2. Hubert, Mazepin, Callum Illiot, Pulcini and David Beckmann round out the top 5 in the points championship. Tveter closes the season in 9th. Correa remains in P12. De Francesco never scored. www.gp3series.comIn the F2 championship: Toronto's Nicholas Latifi had an early end of the season without points when his car stalled at the start before getting nudged by Nirei Fukuzumi and struck by Arjun Maini in the feature race. Latifi was no threat in race 2 with a 17th. George Russell took the win resulting a title. Antonio Fuoco takes the final win of 2018 in race 2. Russell, Lando Norris, Fuoco, Nick De Vries, and Artem Markelov are the top-5 point finishers for the season. Latifi went scorless in the final round thus finishing 9th in the point standings. www.fiaformula2.comI like to thank you for all the best North American talent for giving it all. Next month, the year in review.

The Formula 1 feeder series brought back drivers 1 last time for their final test of the year. But also, it was a farewell for the GP3 car. In the F2 class, Miami, Florida-based driver Juan Manuel Correa testing for Charouz Racing became the surprise driver in Day 2 testing with a quick time of 1:49.958. But was only good for 4th overall Behind Louis Deletraz, Luca Ghiotto, and Toronto native Nicholas Latifi who were the top 3 in day 3. Oyster Bay, NY native Ryan Tveter only tested day 1 and day 3 with 2 different teams (Trident and BWT Arden). His time overall came 1 position short of the top 15. 1 way or the other, Tveter had to move up because of his age (25). Now - the waiting time begins whether or not both drivers would make the cut. And whether new teams will join the grid. www.fiaformula2.comIn GP3, 7 Renault Eurocup drivers made their presence for GP3's final farewell. It also included, Boca Raton, Florida native Logan Sargeant who tested with MP Motorsport in Day 1 and Trident for the last 2 days. And from all the Eurocup drivers that also included 2018 Eurocup Max Fewtrell, Sargeant was the best of the new drivers with the 5th best time in Day 2's morning session while testing with Trident behind Finnish driver Niko Kari, Jehan Daruvala, Richard Verschoor (posting 3rd overall), and Toronto's Devlin De Francesco (4th overall in all 3 days of testing - day 1). 2019 will be a different ball game for the drivers because FIA Formula 3 Europe and GP3 will become the FIA Formula 3 Championship with new entries. www.gp3series.comSEE YOU IN A FEW WEEKS TIME FOR THE YEAR IN REVIEW!!!!!!
