https://www.instagram.com/p/CCOQ6w4h0Gj Back in December, there were unexpected signees that I was not aware of: 1 of them is another 1 of my homeboys. Winnetka, Illinois native Bryce Aron along with St. Charles Missouri native Grant Palmer will race the British Formula Ford 1600 this year joining Low Dempsey Racing. Aron season in 2019 was in the F1600 series where he finished 3rd scoring 8 podiums. Grant has competed in Karting from the age of 14, he has done some ff1600 testing and f4 testing in the past couple of years, he has also competed in the Lucas Oil Winter Series with 4 podiums, he recently competed at COTA setting a new lap record in his class. And just recently, their season in the Avon BRSCC Formula Ford 1600 had begun with mixed results at Oulton Park. In race 1, the US teammates finished 9th and 10th in race 1. Neil McClennan, Rory Smith, and Jonathan Browne took podium honors. Race 2 was very unfortunate when Aron was battling with his teammate. Palmer just crashed on the last lap in race 2. Aron wound up 7th. McClennan and Smith were 1-2 once again with Chris Middlehurst taking the final podium spot in race 2. After 1 round, McClennan leaves Oulton Park with the lead over Smith with a 66-56 lead followed by Browne and Middlehurst tied for 3rd. Jamie Sharp rounds out the top 5. Aron is 7th. And somewhere Palmer in the top 20 finish as they try again next month at Anglesey for 3 events. ff1600website.com/

Logan Sargeant's efforts to close in on the championship lead were detoured with mixed results at The Hungaroring in the FIA F3 championship. the Boca Raton, Fl, native had a 3rd place podium finish taken away due to off-track penalty where he went outside the track as he was passing Liam Lawson in Race 1. It prompted Sargeant getting handed a 5-second penalty thus ending his day in 6th place. Theo Pourchaire was the winner of the feature race. Oscar Pastri and Bent Viscaal were the podium finishers. But in Race 2, Sargeant managed to come with 4th place finish behind race 2 winner David Beckmann, with Piastri getting his 2nd runner-up podium and Dennus Hauger taking the final podium spot. Baltimore's Cameron Das scored his 1st top 20 finish with a 17th place finish. But dropped 22nd in race 2. After Hungaroring, Piastri increases his lead to 22 points behind Sargeant (76-50).Pourchaire is only 2 points behind Sargeant. Beckmann and Richard Verschoor complete the top 5 and withing 5 points behind Sargeant. Das is yet to score points as they head north to Silverstone in week after their break. www.fiaformula3.com

We like to send our congrats to our US drivers competing abroad for their stellar performances. Kaylen Frederick ended his nightmarish weekend on a sweet note with a double win in the the British Formula 3 event at Oulton Park in dominant fashion. A 3rd was taken away in the opening race when he and 2 other drivers false started. The Potomac, Md. native received the Race 1 penalty right after the race when marshals examined the footage of other drivers who false started and Frederick was caught in race 1, the win was handed to Kiern Jewiss with Ulysses DePauw and Nazin Azman completing the podium. The penalty dropped Frederick to 8th. Laguna Hills, Ca. native Reece Ushiijima scores 1 of his 3 top ten finishes with a 10th and Seattle-based Dane Benjamin Pedersen manages a P11. In Race 2, Frederick had to start from the back because the penalty was handed to him right after the race, and could not recover and had to settle with a P14. Piers Prior won the reverse grid race with Kush Maini and Ben Hortsen filling the podium spots in race 2. Pedersen came up short ending his Saturday with a P4 performance. Ushiijima scored a best with a P6 finish. But Sunday belonged to Frederick dominating his rivals with 8.9 second gap in race 3 with Nazim Azman and Louis Foster as the other podium finishers. Pedersen finished in P12 and Ushiijima would up in P15 for Race 3 with Frederick also taking the 4th race. Maini and Prior were the Race 4 podium finishers. Ushiijima scores another P10 with Pedersen mustering up a P15. With his Sunday Double, Frederick holds an 8-point lead over Jewiss (87-79) with Azman just 1 point behind Jewiss. Maini and Prior complete the Top 5. Pedersen ends his weekend in P13 with Ushiijima in P14 as they head to Donington Park in 2 weeks time. www.britishf3.com/We also like to send another congrats to Logan Sargeant after a great stellar weekend in the FIA Formula 3 series during the latest round at Silverstone. The Boca Raton, Florida native earned a few extra points with his maiden pole in the feature race and a fast lap in the sprint that enabled him to close the gap on rival Oscar Piastri. Sargeant 's Saturday was short lived when the safety car came the first time for Bent Viscaal and Jack Doohan. Viscaal day ended with Doohan falling from position to position. Sargeant would not recover from another safety car. That handed Liam Lawson the win over Oscar Piastri. Logan Sargeant finished 3rd. Jake Hughes and Frederic Vesti completed the top 5. But in Race 2, Sargeant had a rough start after starting in P8, but recovered to finished P5 in Race 2. David Beckmann took the top honors in Race 2 with Clement Novalak finishing 2nd and alex Peroni earning the the final podium spot right after Russian Alex Smolyar was penalized for a weaving infraction during a race that dropped him to 6th stripping him his win. Vesti and Sargeant complete the top 5. But Oscar Piastri could not score due to a mechanical problem that force him to retire from the race. Baltimore's Cameron Das could only finish P21 in Race 1 and P25 in race 2. With Piastri's retirement, Sargeant was able to cut down his lead from 22 to 17 (94-77). Beckmann is only 13 points behind Sargeant with Vesti and Lawson in a tight 4th place battle as they will remain in Silverstone for the next round. www.fiaformula3.com/And we also like to give a shout out to Jak Crawford (Right) for a decent weekend during his maiden European campaign in the ADAC German Formula 4 championship at Lausitzring. The Houston native managed to score his maiden series 2nd place podium in race 2 and a P4 finish in race 1 after a big hiccup at the start in pole. But rain would not be on Crawford's side when marshals place safety 1st over a re-start with 5 minutes to go. Crawford's teammate and Red Bull classmate Jonny Edgar took the 1st 2 races. Edgar, Joshua Durksen and Elias Seppanen were the podium finishers in race 1 with Seppanen holding Crawford late charge at the finish line. In race 2, it was Edgar again passing Crawford with less than 10 minutes in the race. Tim Tramnitz took the final podium spot for race 2. Seppanen assist came from the marshals when they displayed the red flag thus ending the race with Seppanen taking the win with Victor Brenier and Kirill Smal taking the final podium spots in race 3. Crawford late pit strategy cost him a possible top 5 finish ending his day in P10. Edgar holds a 12-point lead over Seppanen (56-44). Brenier, Tramnitz and Crawford have a 3-way fight for 3rd (36-35-31) with the Nürburgring next on the calendar in 2 weeks time. Crawford will also be competing in the Italian F4 championship this season with the Imola circuit at the end of the month. www.adac-motorsport.de/adac-formel-4/uk/

Having a pole for the 2nd time at the same track has finally paid dividends for Logan Sargeant. The Boca Raton, Florida native had his ups and down this weekend at Silverstone when he scored his very maiden FIA Formula 3 win that enabled to climb into the top. The race in Saturday was totally lopsided going flag to flag for his 1st victory of the season keeping Jake Hughes on his mirror in Race 1. Liam Lawson took the final podium position with Frederik Vesti and David Beckmann completing the top 5. The former leader Oscar Piastri wound up 7th after electrical issues had him start 11th. But the 2nd race was not good for Sargeant. Logan collided with fellow American Cameron Das. The Baltimore native and Logan were neck-a-neck for P11. But Das struck Logan's left rear damaging his suspension ending his race on lap 10. Sargeant managed to nurse it to the pits getting the car out of harms way. Bent Viscaal was the winner of Race 2 followed by podium finishers Lirim Zendelli and Theo Pourchaire. Beckmann and Lawson complete the top 5 followed by Piastri in 6th place. Das finished P11 in Race 1 and P12 in Race 2. With his win, Sargeant leaps over Piastri with a 1-point advantage (106-105) with Beckmann holding 3rd followed by Lawson and Vesti in the top 5 with the grid heading to Barcelona this week as the 2nd half begins. www.fiaformula3.com/

I like to congratulate to Sebastian Montoya. The son of Indy 500 winner Juan Pablo Montoya just started his season in the Italian Formula 4 championship at Misano 2 weeks ago managing 2 P5 finishes in races 2 and 3 and a P8 in race 1 for his efforts. Gabrielle Mini, Francesco Pizzi and Filip Ugran were the podium finishers in Race 1. Andrea Rosso, Ugran and Pizzi were podium finishers for Race 2. Then it was Pizzi, Mini and Dino Beganovic the podium finishers in Race 3. After 1 round: It is Pizzi taking a brief points lead over Mini (58-55). Ugran is in P3. Rosso and Beganovic complete the top 5 with Montoya lurking into 6th place only separated by 5 points as they will head down to Imola at the end of the month. Sebastian is in Germany to compete in the ADAC German F4 championship this weekend at Nürburgring. f4championship.com/

S.E.R.E. was the name of the game (SURVIVE. EVADE. REPEAT. ESCAPE.) for our US hopefuls this weekend. We go 1st to the British F3 series where Potomac, Md. native Kaylen Frederick scored 1 win and a 2nd place finish at Donington Park. But the catch was that the rain was a rival and a friend during that weekend. His Race 1 was not so fortunate. After starting from pole, once the green lit up, drops of rain have come from the sky causing him to slide at the Fogarty Esses that dropped him to 4th. He would not recover from there thus resulted a P8 finish. But Laguna Hills, California native Reece Ushijima scored his best performance on that Saturday with his maiden 2nd place podium behind winner Louis Foster. Kush Maini scores the final podium spot with Piers Prior and Kiern Jewiss completing the top 5. Seattle-based Dane Benjamin Pedersen came to the line in P9, while debutant and Clovis, California native Carter Williams made his series debut with a P16 finish. In race 2, Frederick took advantage of the reverse starting grid with a P11 start moving 9 positions to finish 2nd behind Ulysses De Pauw who dominated the race by 11 seconds holding off a Kaylen rally by 2 seconds. Oliver Clarke scores the final podium spot. Bart Horsten and Pedersen round up the top 5. Williams scores his 1st top 10 finish with a 9th, with Ushijima unable to streak ahead ending Race 2 with a P11 finish. But Race 3 was all Frederick who started in P4 based on his 2nd fast lap in qualifying. It only took at least 4 laps to over take Josh Skelton in a rout by 11 seconds. Maini scores his 2nd 3rd place finish of the weekend. Nico Varrone and Jewiss rounded off the top 5. Pedersen ends his Donington Park weekend with a P7 and Ushijima a P13. And after 2 rounds Frederick gets the Evade award with a 29-point lead over Maini (161-132) with Jewiss only 9 points behind Maini in 3rd. Foster and Nazim Azman are 4th and 5th in the points. Pedersen ends his weekend in P9 with Ushijima in P11. Williams in his debut end his Sunday in P18 as the British F3 series will go on a 1-week break before heading to Brands Hatch at the end of the month. www.britishf3.com/The FIA Formula 3 was a game of Survive and Escape for Logan Sargeant at Barcelona in the FIA F3 championship. The Boca Raton, Fla., native managed to score a P3 podium in race 1 after starting from pole before getting passed by Jake Hughes and Liam Lawson right before the half-way point of the race. Clement Novalak and David Beckmann completed the top 5. In race 2 and was an all-Aussie 1-2 with Oscar Piastri and Alex Peroni, with Matteo Nannini taking the final podium spot. Richard Verschoor held a charging Sargeant for 4th. Baltimore's Cameron Das finished P19 in race 1 and P17 in race 2 once again leaving him scoreless. Sargeant once again escapes this weekend with a 1 point lead over Piastri (131-130). Lawson with the race 1 win moves up to 3rd in the standings dropping Beckmann to 4th. Theo Pourchaire drops to 5th as the grid takes a break before heading to the FIA weekend at Spa-Francochamps at the end of the month. www.fiaformula3.comAnd Houston's Jak Crawford was with a repeat performance this weekend in the ADAC German F4 Championship at the Nürburgring. It was a repeat of the positions where he finished. In Race 1, Crawford had a nice strong front row start alongside Gabriele Mini. But at the start, Crawford somehow rubbed during the scuffle causing a puncture in 1 of the tires. But Artem Lobanlenko suffered a damaged rear wing that cause a safety car to come out after Joshua Durksen was unable to avoided turning the part into debris. That saved Crawford from going 1 lap down in which he finished P10 for his efforts. Mini took the checkered flag leaving Jonny Edgar .5 seconds behind. Elias Seppanen scored the final podium spot with Victor Brenier and Francesco Pizzi rounding up the top 5. Juan Pablo Montoya's son Sebastian Montoya scores a P8 in his German F4 debut. In Race 2, Crawford was unable to move any further as Jonny Edgar took the race 2 win over Seppanen and Mini rounding up the podium. Crawford remained in P4 with Tim Tramnitz rounding up the top 5. Montoya repeats his performance with another P8 finish. In Race 3, it was Durksen dominating his race 3 win after placing distance on Crawford who finished P2, with Mini scoring another 3rd in his podium trifecta of the weekend. Seppanen and Edgar rounded the top 5. Montoya was never a threat with a P12 finish. After 2 rounds, Edgar continues to lead over Seppanen (109-89) with Crawford moving 2 spaces to 3rd. Tramnitz and Brenier round up the top 5 standings. Montoya's 2 4-point scores nets him a P14 in the series standings. They will also take a break from the German series until mid-September when they head out to Hockenheim. But Crawford and some of the ADAC F4 regulars will be heading to Monza as he makes his debut in the Italian F4 championship at the end of August. www.adac-motorsport.de/adac-formel-4/uk

This past weekend, Cameron Das made a return to the Euro Formula Open series with sub-par results at Paul Ricard. Apparently, with a 14-car grid, he could not advance with a P10 in race 1 and a P8 in race 2. Lukas Dunner took the victory in race 1 with Ye Yifei 2nd. Andreas Estner filled the final podium position. Yifei was the winner in race 2 with Barbados driver Zane Maloney taking the runner-up spot, followed by Dunner for the final podium spot. After the 2nd round, Yifei continues to lead the championship over Estner (99-63). Maloney is a distant 3rd after he was unable to start Race 1. Dunner and Ido Cohen wrap up the top 5. Das 1st points places him in 12th. The series will head East to the Red Bull Ring in the middle of September. But Das will be absent due to his commitment with the FIA F3 series. www.euroformulaopen.net

https://www.instagram.com/p/CEhkDRXjTA1 It was a weekend of rally hats and setbacks. This weekend, Logan Sargeant had to wait for the next day to take back the points thanks to a reverse P3 starting grid in the sprint race. But it was not that easy. The Boca Raton, Fla., native had to hold off a charging teammate Frederik Vesti to take his maiden sprint race to re-take the lead in the championship. At the start, reverse pole-sitter Richard Verschoor took an early lead with Sargeant passing Vesti at La Source. It took the next lap for Sargeant to pass Verschoor for the lead leaving his rivals in his mirror. Even Vesti who was attempting to rally with 4 laps to go. Liam Lawson took the final podium position. Alexandr Smolyar and Theo Pourchaire took the final top 5 positions. an extra assist came from FIA officials when points leader for a day Oscar Piastri violated track limits at the Eau Rouge droping him to 6th with a :05 penalty. In Race 1, Liam Zendeli took the feature win with Pourchaire and David Beckmann taking the final podium positions. Smolyar and Piastri were 4th and 5th. Sargeant's feature was a disaster dropping him to 8th. But it worked in his advantage. Baltimore's Cameron Das finished 25th in the feature and 23rd after he got spun by Federico Malvesti. And Sargeant takes back the points lead from Piastri by 7 (152-145) after 2 extra points were added for having the fastest last lap. Beckmann and Lawson are 1 point apart between 3rd and 4th. Pourchaire stays in 5th. 2 more weeks remain as they will go back to back in Italy at Monza this week. then they finish the season at Mugello. www.fiaformula3.comIn the Italian F4 championship, Jak Crawford manages to score 2 podium finishes at Imola. The Houston native scored a 3rd place podium in Race 1 after having a disaster in the very 1st lap when he spun dropping him to 9th. But a safety car saved him after crash occured at the starting grid. After repairs, Crawford re-started in 9th and catapulted for his 3rd place podium behind winner Filip Urgan and Jonny Edgar. Race 2 was even better and was battling his fellow Red Bull teammate Edgar. But fell short. Andrea Rosso took 3rd in race 2. Race 3 was a disaster for Crawford. And rain was also a factor. Crawford had a short day after crashing. Rosso took the victory over Francesco Pizzi and Edgar. Sebastian Montoya finished 2 races. P14 in race 2 and a P7 in race 3. With the win, Pizzi holds a 2-point lead over Gabrielle Mini (85-83). Urgan, Rosso and Edgar round up the top 5. Crawford enters the points in 7th. Montoya is P8. The Italian series will head up at the Red Bull ring in the middle of September. Then they would later go back to Hockenheim. www.f4championship.com/

And apparently, the best performer in this weekend British F3 round at Brands Hatch was Laguna Hills, Cal., native Reece Ushijima who scored another reverse grid 2nd-place podium and was the best highlight for a US driver. Seattle-based Dane Benjamin Pedersen managed his best performance with a P6 finish. But it was a total diaster for Potomac, Md's Kaylen Frederick who failed miserably in qualification due to weather. He was unable to finish race 1 due to a crash. scored in races 2 (P12) and 4 (P11) for points. But his points lead took a major hit in race 3 where a safety car was called for a crash involving Ulysses De Pauw. But during the safety car period, that is where Frederick's weekend came tumbling down when he tagged Reece Ushijima's car causing to skid down taking the cars of Piers Prior and Manaf Hijjawi at Graham Hill's Bend. And after review. Frederick was disqualified from race 3 with no points. Race Results: Race 1: Aytron Simmons, Kush Maini, Ulysses De Pauw. Pedersen - P8 Ushijima - P14 Race 2: Nazim Azman, Ushijima, Bart Hortsen. Pedersen - P6 Frederick - P12 Race 3: Simmons, Josh Skelton, Maini. Ushijima - P8 Pedersen - P9 Race 4: Maini, De Pauw, Louis Foster. Ushijima - P9 Pedersen - P10 Frederick - P11 Going half-way of the season, it's Maini holing a 29-point lead over Kieran Jewiss (227-198). The battle for 3rd is tight 2 points in between with Skelton (180), Foster (179) and Frederick (178). Pedersen holds P10 for the moment with Ushijima up to 11th. The series will make a return to Donington Park for the 2nd half of the season. www.britishf3.com

What was once a 1 on 1 showdown in the FIA Formula 3 championship, the last race will be officially a possible 6-wide-horse race right after the leaders stumbled. Especially Logan Sargeant. The Boca Raton, Flo., native received the nasty Monza Monsoon. In race 1 a possible score to keep him close with Oscar Pastri went 90 degrees after Clement Novalak nudged him at the Variante on lap 14 dropping him to P26. Frederik Vesti won the feature. Theo Pourchaire and Oscar Piastri sealed the podium with Piastri re-taking the lead. David Beckmann and Jake Hughes complete the top 5. Race 2 was so worse - but kind of relief. Sargeant had a huge superb afternoon after starting 26h going up to 5th at 1 point, but his weekend ended with a nail in lap 20 when he misjudged his position having his right rear getting sliced by Vesti's front wing damaging the suspension thus ending his race in the pits in P25. But Oscar Piastri also retired early in the race. Jake Hughes took the sprint race ahead of Liam Lawson and Pourchaire earning him a 2nd podium this weekend. Alexander Smolyar and Lirim Zendeli round up the top 5. Baltimore's Cameron Das would only finish P16 in race 1 and P17 in race 2. After 8 rounds, Piastri holds that 8-point gap over Sargeant (160-152). Liam Lawson (135) and Pourchaire (134) are in contention. That makes the top 4 drivers who are officially in contention (Of course: There are numerous catches). Beckmann (123.5) and Vesti (117.5) are all but mathematically eliminated from title contention. Mugello will be the final showdown next week. www.fiaformula3.comBut on the other hand despite the performance, Sargeant remains positive.

And apparently the odds just got ugly. Despite the 3-grid penalty drop on the finale, Sargeant's rival Piastri has taken a 5-grid drop for the finale. Now the title is up for contention. But regardless - advantage: Piastri. UPDATE: Liam Lawson lost his 2nd place podium due to forcing Lirim Zendeli off track that was handed a 10-second penalty. It elevated Pourchaire to 2nd and Smolyar earning his maiden 3rd-place podium. Zendeli is elevated 4th and Alex Peroni completing the top 5. The points positions of Piastri and Sargeant remain the same (150-142). But the new results of Pourchaire (136) behind the top 2. It meant that Lawson (127), Beckmann (123.5) and Vesti (117.5) are all but mathematically eliminated. It will be Piastri, Sargeant and Pourchaire in a 3-horse race for the FIA F3 title during the Tuscan GP weekend at Mugello. www.fiaformula3.com/Latest/2hvYi8CHTCNERrMP160nP2/round-8-post-race-2-penalties

What would have been in the FIA F3 championship. But there is no golden miracle for Logan Sargeant at Mugello. Back in race 1, the Boca Raton, Fla., native had to start 5th after he was hit with a post-penalty at Monza (Would have started 2nd). But in the end he finished 6th for a 5th place reverse grid start that also left his rival and fellow teammate Oscar Piastri out of the top 10. Knowing that he had to stay ahead of his teammate in order to win the FIA F3 championship. Frederick Vesti won the 1st race ahead of Jake Hughes and title contender Theo Pourchaire that enabled him to stay in the running. Liam Znedeli and Enzo Fittipaldi completed the top 5 ahead of Sargeant. Race 2 will be known as the Mugello Crunch when at the start, his miracle run ended when he was sandwiched between Zendeli and the ART car of Sebastian Fernandez. And it went south for Sargeant colliding with Zendeli into the sandtrap taking them out of the race. A sad end for Sargeant's run for the championship. Jake Hughes wins the F3 finale with David Beckmann and Pourchaire filling the podium. Pourchaire's 3rd place was enough the leap for Sargeant for 2nd in the championship by 1 point. Fittipaldi and Richard Verschoor seal the top 5 with Piastri scoring a 7th to take the FIA Formula 3 title. Baltimore's Cameron Das could only score a P23 in race 1 and a P25 in Race 2. And for the 1st time the championship was the closest to be decided with Piastri taking the title over Pourchaire and Sargeant (164-161-160). Vesti and Liam Lawson finished in the top 5. But Sargeant is part of a Championship winning team Prema Powerteam. Das has officially classified P25 in the point standings despite not scoring a point. F3 testing will start in October. It will determine whether Sargeant will stay for a championship run or will leap into Formula 2. Hopefully you get picked up by a team to develop you. But what I can tell is this: You did all you can Logan and we congratulate you for giving all you had. We will see what your next venture will lead you. WE ARE PROUD OF YOU LOGAN. Even though Mugello was a total sandstorm, there was some consolation for our US drivers. In the Italian F4 championship, Houston's Jak Crawford has scored his 1st race win in Race 2 that went along with a 3rd place podium in race 3 and a 4th place finish at Helmut Marko's home track - The Red Bull Ring at Lauzitz. Race 1 was a great start for Crawford, but only to falter during the middle of the race while getting passed by Gabriele Mini and fellow Red Bull and teammate Jonny Edgar. Paraguayan Joshua Durksen of Prema took the initial win with Mini and Edgar completing the podium. Crawford and Oliver Bearman rounded up the top 5. Race 2 was his race for Crawford and it took 4 laps to overtake not only Edgar, but also Bearman. Afterwords, Crawford never trailed. Bearman and Mini closed out the podium with Edgar and Dino Beganovic sealing the top 5. And Race 3 was a relief for Crawford keeping Edgar for the 2nd time in his mirror, a late rally was a bit late due to local flags with Mini holding off Durksen for the win. And Crawford taking the final podium spot. Edgar and Bearman finishing in the top 5. Juan Pablo Montoya was in hand to see his son Sebastian taking 2 top 10 finisheS with a 9th in race 1 and a 7th in race 3. His 2nd race had to end abruptly due to a damaged rear wing just 2 laps before the finish. Race 2 was marred by a nasty crash of Russian driver Kirill Smal in the turn 4 curve where his car was split in 2. Smal was unharmed, but unable to start Race 3. The Italian F4 standing have Mini continue to dominate with 141 over Francesco Pizzi with 105. Edgar is close behind in 3rd with 97 points. Crawford elevates to 4th with 85. Andrea Rosso is 5th with 79. Montoya is steady in P10. The next round Crawford will compete will be back in the German F4 series this week at the Hockenheimring. The Italian F4 series will be at Mugello next month. www.f4championship.com/

So close. That really sucks for Sargeant, getting taken out like that, tied for the championship lead going into the last race. That heartbreak reminded me of the defunct series what was called the Italian F3 series in 2011. I remember when Laguna Seca's Michael Lewis won the 1st race at Monza trying to catch up the series points leader Sergio Campana in the season finale. The points tally was 145-135 Campana. The title decider was on race 2. Lewis had a smooth comfortable lead knowing that he had to win and had it won. But it went downhill for Lewis after crashing out at the Curva De La Roggia with less than 2 laps to go. It was as close that he got. And would have had a shot at a development deal with The Scuderia. That was the ultimate heartreak. I still remember that stunner like it was yesterday.

Ever since the points system went into effect, Herta has to push himself into winning the Indy Car title. And since he races with Honda engines, hopefully he can get a push into riding an Alpha Tauri. Alfa Romeo is a decent choice. My call is on Alpha.

The weekend was of bumps and bruises. Kaylen Frederick's run for the British F3 crown hit a very big snag at Donington Park. The Potomac, Md., native managed to score his 4th win, but was met with the reverse grid setback in race 2 and a penalty in race 3. Frederick managed to run away in Race 1 with Ulysse De Pauw and series points leader Kush Maini completing the podium, with Bart Hortsen and Nazim Azman rounding up the top 5. Seattle-based Dane Benjamin Pedersen scores a P6 for his efforts with Laguna Hills, Cal. native Reece Ushijima ending his Saturday P9. Races 2 and 3 were a total let down with Louis Foster winning the reversed-grid race over Josh Mason with Manaf Hijjawi rounding up the podium. Ushijima and debutant Roberto Faria complete the top 5. Pedersen was no effect with a P15 finish. It was the 3rd race that went downhill for Frederick. Maini managed to pass him on the very 1st lap never looking back for his race 3 win with De Pauw getting his runner-up finish. Azman 3rd place podium was courtesy of Frederick's penalty for exceeding track limits that dropped him to 4th. Sasakorn Chaimongkol rounded up the top 5. Ushijima scores a P6 for his efforts with managing a P9 finish. Maini now controls the points lead over Frederick (296-242) with Foster only 18 points behind Frederick. De Pauw and Azman took a drop in the top 5. Ushijima jumps into the top 10 in P9 with Pedersen slipping to P11. A 4-race showdown awaits them at Snetterton at the beginning of October. www.britishf3.com
