Ironically while NASCAR is taking a beating because fire entered the Hambone's driver compartment, they have this conflagration in the Truck Series.
In the words of Eddie Murphy, "NOW THAT'S A FIRE". The social media whiners suddenly became silent when they were reminded the Trucks are still using the old trucks. Only Cup is using the new vehicles.

What Gen 7 cars have overlooked is - Crush Zones to both the front and rear clips.

NASCAR really needs to admit that something's off with the car as far as crashworthiness and fix the issue in the off-season. IMO, they also should also eat some of the costs, too. Kurt Busch, I can understand a bit since that was a fairly hard hit. But the deal with Bowman DNS'ing the last two races after a seemingly minor accident at TMS (given that the car finished there after minor repairs) is IMO ridiculous and NASCAR needs to fess up, admit they made a mistake, and make amends.
And yes, I know that Elton Sawyer from NASCAR R&D and IMSA's Action Express team has made a bit of a mea culpa and said that NASCAR is working on changes for the rear and maybe front clips for next season. But that's still not fully accepting responsibility or apologizing for the new car's safety issues, let alone other teething issues that smack of lack of testing.
Not to mention that one only has to look at 1980's NASCAR modifieds or 1950s/60s Indy Car roadsters to figure out the consequences of building cars too stiff with not enough bend or crush in them to absorb impacts.

Concussions and their 'brain damage' are cumulative. While the most recent brain impact with the skull may not appear to be severe, there may have been tens to hundreds of impacts that preceded the most recent one. Not all those impacts may have come from racing. There may be childhood and adolescent incidents, that weren't acknowledged at the time of their occurrence. We have no detailed history, and I doubt that Bowman even knows his detailed history. Remember all those, get up walk it off, you just got your bell rung comments as we were growing up?
