Until Mclaren drops that ancient 2013 "size zero" stupidity, I expect nothing but more of the same mediocrity. Alonso driving for Mclaren at IndyCar seems like a fasttrack to kill his racing career off. Alonso has a racing career?

so what's the financials of freddy racing in indycar next year? what would mclaren have to pay andretti racing or whoever to race a painted orange car with a mclaren logo? maybe a million or two american? Just a guess as I have no idea. plus I suppose his wages. what's he making this year? 20 / 30 million american? prolly wouldn't cost mclaren much if anything as I'd guess he'd get sponsorship money as there are those who'd pay a boatload to have their name on freddy's car. prolly including indycar. they's prolly pay to have him in the series full time. one thing's for certain, with indycar being a spec series, he wouldn't be 2 seconds a lap slower for openers. :-)

Will be a lot more than a million or two to run a season of Indy Car. Maybe the Indy 500.

It would be about 7-10 million to do an entire season of Indy Car with a top shelf program like Andretti. Compared to the old CART days when they had big factory involvement from Ford, Honda, Toyota, and Mercedes and lots of tobacco money from Marlboro, Kool, and Players, top drivers earned in excess of $6 million per season. Today, according to Dario Franchitti, top drivers earn between 1 and 1.5 million but that is maybe four or five on the grid today. Dixon and maybe the Penske drivers. Not sure if RHR or Rossi earn that much at Andretti. Andretti found sponsors to run their pretty stout teams.

ESPN supports that IndyCar price, estimating a range of $3 million to $8 million per car, depending on the team. www.nbcchicago.com/news/business/Race-Car-Costs-The-High-Price-of-Fielding-a-Racing-Team-424352663.htmlso the question still remains. how much would it cost mclaren to have andretti run a orange painted car with freddy at the wheel? the more stickers on the car, the less it would cost mclaren. thing is freddy prolly has enough cash in the bank he could put up the mclaren part of the bill himself. he'd have a relatively competitive car. :-)

McLaren and/or its sponsors would be the ones paying for Alonso's salary, if I had to guess. Andretti would provide the equipment, personnel, and logistics of running his entry.

I highly doubt that. Beautiful wife, new family, and a bank account full of Ferrari dollars. I'd go home and enjoy myself before that mess.

Well, if Alonso leaves they will definitely need a solid veteran to pair up with Norris or Vandoorne. Kimi is probably about the best they could realistically hope for. He may even be a bit of a stretch.
Ricciardo isn't desperate enough to go there and I doubt they could even tempt a guy the caliber of Sainz. Kimi is in the twilight of his career and doesn't seem to mind cruising around and racking up laps for a decent paycheck.

Not to mention Smiling Dan's winning personality vs. LuLu's assholery.

Heck, they could get me for free and I, too, have a winning personality. And I can't lose with a Merc. It's almost like the leaders of that huge multinational corporation are clueless.

But can you rap and have your male selfie assistant take photos of you for the Gram? Does the Brit Press literally love you? I thought not.

If the Bulls re-sign Ricci their next move would HAVE to be exercising Sainz's option an drag him back to Toro Rosso. Renault is keen on keeping him and may buy him out, or they could just wait a year until carlos can walk away free and clear. Either way I don't see RB holding on to him in the long term.

I have more hair than Lewis, too! And the Brit press would love me if they only knew me :-)

Raikkonen doesn’t rule out move after McLaren link
Kimi Raikkonen did not rule out racing for another team in Formula 1 following a link to a McLaren drive in 2019.
