Adding to the many rumors Michael Andretti was said to be in Montreal sniffing around the carcass of Force India. Would the spaghetti boys have enough financial backing to buy out the curry boys?

Alone, no. There were others in the group which included Rossi's Dad. Backstory is that Liberty has been financially propping up Force India recently.

Now that the Red Bull engine question appears to have been solved I'd think Danny will sign his new contract and have it announced in Austria.

Honda's core competency has always been engines...

LOL is it really racing if you are in a Mclaren? so they're making a play for ricki. is this for real or are they just trying to screw the ded cows. if ricki decides to take the money, who does he replace? is stoffel what's his name bringing money? if so it may be hard to turn that income down. what are they paying fredy? 30m a year? it might mean that fredy's already gone from F1 and they're looking for a replacement.

Reality: Freddies already gone and they can't afford a replacement. Except maybe Kimi.

They sure can't afford Fred and $20M for Smiling Dan. That's why I think they already know (or at least suspect) that Fred will be racing IndyCar next year. But would they put him with The Waffle or Norris?
I can't imagine that Ricciardo would seriously consider going to McLaren anyway. He wants to have a realistic chance to win.

Yeah, I think I was the only one here that wanted to see McLaren make a big step up with the change of PU. I know the rest of you hate them for whatever reason. Everyone blames them for Honda's failures and I have been a fan of both going way back. But they obviously could not make it work and the failure to achieve was mutual.
We need a PU formula that won't restrict it to two or three mega-global-brands.

I am actually a bit of a McLaren fan, and there are others here too. What ticked me off was there insistence that their chassis was the class of the field and the Honda PU was the only problem.

Until Mclaren drops that ancient 2013 "size zero" stupidity, I expect nothing but more of the same mediocrity.
Alonso driving for Mclaren at IndyCar seems like a fasttrack to kill his racing career off.
