...Sadly, I expect the focus to turn to Hybrid/Electric vehicles sooner than later. Maybe, but they will be most likely hybrid/electrical supercar.

New Top Gear season starts this Sunday. There's an article about it on BBC. They claim that it is less scripted and the chemistry among the new team is much better than it has been lately. Of course, that remains to be seen.
Their youtube channel has a few trailers.

The first episode was pretty decent, a classic Top Gear style road trip in Ethiopia.
Chris's new partners are rough and tumble types. I foresee a good chance of someone getting hurt before the season is over.

Man, these guys are very mean to each other. Think 'electrocution at will'. Harris is taking the brunt and I almost feel sorry for him. Kinda wish they had Sabine in the place of Flintoff.

I watched a little bit of episode 2 and I agree. It has became a bit too frat boy. Replace one with Sabine would be a good idea. I am burnt out on car shows.

Ho Chi Minh City, formerly Saigon. Brings back memories of my USAF days at Clark AB (79-81) when we tracked aircraft from the Mekong delta to Hainan Island. Also covered southern China and Cambodia, which we called Kampuchea back then. One of my Navy buddies, a Vietnamese linguist, used to deploy on ships in the South China Sea occasionally to serve as an interpreter when they were picking up a lot of 'boat people' refugees. Clark AB AN/FLR-9 'Elephant Cage' antenna and our ops building to the left of it. Anyway, enough nostalgic babbling. Guess there's a new Grand Tour season coming up.

Like a slow motion train wreck, I cannot stop watching Top Gear. While continuing to jump the shark, they almost fulfilled my prediction of seriously harming one or more of the presenters.
On a positive note, Sabine makes an (all too brief) appearance in this episode.

Episode 4 was far and away the worst Top Gear ever. It was so bad, they couldn't even get Chris to go along on the trip. So it was just the two nimrods.

If that's the only episode you watched this season you picked a pretty good one. It was decent, and they saved the best for last (season finale).

Electrified episode. Freddy picked the Leaf, Chris with the Triumph and Paddy with the Subaru. Fun way to get shocked and then some. Poor Chris had to endured shock treatment while drinking milk.

I suppose I will watch the next episode, but if it is as bad as this one it will probably be the last.
