I wonder how long he'll be satisfied being a brand ambassador car salesman for McLaren?

He will probably want a road car named after him. The McLaren Alonso 14S. 😁

HAAS is another team that can get him something for Indy and has ties to Ferrari. I could see Gene getting Alonso a Penske seat in a one off Indy run. Unlikely since Penske has a technical alliance with Mazak, a direct competitor to Haas. Do Haas and Mazak really compete in a serious manufacturing setting? If you want a machine you can run hard for years it probably won't be a Haas. We just went through a capitol project looking for a new mill and Haas was never considered. The final two options are a DMC 160 or an Okuma mill turn of similar size.

The final two options are a DMC 160 or an Okuma mill turn of similar size. Haas and Mazak are like Pepsi and Coke. Each has their ups and downs so it depends what you are looking for. Mazak may be faster but they are more expensive and more complex and difficult to set up and program. Haas might be slower but they are cheaper and easier to operate. If you are going to utilize the full speed of a Mazak, have machinists with the skillset to wrap their heads around one, and budget is no problem, then that would probably be the one to get. If speed isn't as important or you aren't going to utilize its full capability 24/7, then Haas is probably a better option and it will require a smaller budget. We have a Haas machining center and it is probably six years old and it works fine for us and we have had no break downs with it. However, both brands provide solutions for the same market so they are direct competitors.

Interesting comment on the programming, all of my programmers want to program for fanuc controllers if you mention heidenhain you might get lynched. I heard Haas has their own language as well? I guess it boils down to what they are comfortable with

Surprised Haas didn't bid adios to Rich Energy with their copyright fiasco. Besides, I have seen anywhere I could even purchase the panther piss.

I always liked the dark grey HAAS car better. There performance is tied to tires and RoGro. Just dump him already.

I think he thinks he is in a Lotus with the Black and gold scheme. Can't even drive out of the pits without hitting things.
