Reutzel Rules The Roost At Grandview
Aaron Reutzel did what some would consider the impossible on Thursday night at Grandview Speedway: beat the Pennsylvania Posse on their home dirt. Reutzel, driver of the familiar Baughman-Reutzel Motorsports No. 87, achieved his feat in fantastic fashion, not only leading all 35 circuits to kick-off the four-day Central Pennsylvania invasion, but he also held off a swarm of competitors battling behind him that included Freddie Rahmer and Kyle Larson to increase his win count to eight with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1. “It is badass to beat the Posse,” Reutzel said. “This isn’t an easy place to come to and expect to win. This win is going to be very special to us considering what we were able to do. I really can’t say enough about this team. There are so many people who make this possible. It’s incredible.” Although Reutzel was in charge the entire distance, the 35-lap main event did not count down without a challenge for the Clute, Texas, native. The former ASCS national champion and now All Star Circuit of Champions driver point leader was forced to deal with an immense amount of pressure from multiple drivers with most of the chaos occurring during the second half of the program. Between laps 20 and 28, things were getting interesting for Reutzel. Tim Shaffer, who started from the pole position by way of dash victory, was starting to nip at the heels of Reutzel as the duo attempted to navigate traffic. At the same time, Paul McMahan, who actually raced in the runner-up spot from lap 11 until lap 20, was also beginning to apply pressure on the top pair, soon joined by fifth-row starter, Freddie Rahmer. By lap 22, Rahmer and McMahan each worked by Shaffer, eventually igniting a battle with each other that included two official position changes in three laps. Meanwhile, Larson, who started ninth, was also starting to come alive, soon working his way to fourth behind Reutzel, Rahmer, and McMahan. The hornet’s nest calmed down on lap 28 when back-to-back caution flags appeared, one for a spinning Tim Shaffer, ultimately ending the four-car battle for the top spot. The pair of cautions on lap 28, and another caution on lap 33, acted as a saving grace for Aaron Reutzel, allowing the Texan to utilize a clear track and clean air. Despite a mad attempt by Larson, pounding the cushion on the final two circuits in hopes of sneaking around the top-three, the intent failed. Reutzel escaped to win by 1.3 seconds at the final checkers followed by Rahmer, Larson, Paul McMahan and Chad Kemenah. “It kinda started off with me running the top, then I heard someone running below me so I switched to the bottom for a little bit,” Reutzel said. “I thought that maybe I was going way to slow down there. When I saw the 51 (Rahmer) come on the board, I figured he was rolling through the middle.” The finish:
1. 87-Aaron Reutzel [2]; 2. 51-Freddie Rahmer [10]; 3. 57-Kyle Larson [9]; 4. 13-Paul McMahan [3]; 5. 10H-Chad Kemenah [4]; 6. 48-Danny Dietrich [7]; 7. 87K-Alan Krimes [5]; 8. 27-Greg Hodnett [8]; 9. 11-Ryan Smith [13]; 10. 37-JJ Grasso [20]; 11. 7K-Cale Conley [6]; 12. 24-Lucas Wolfe [14]; 13. 70-Dave Blaney [23]; 14. 20-Ryan Taylor [19]; 15. 3G-Carson Macedo [17]; 16. 99M-Kyle Moody [15]; 17. 39M-Anthony Macri [22]; 18. 49X-Tim Shaffer [1]; 19. 88-Brandon Rahmer [24]; 20. 35-Tyler Esh [16]; 21. 4-Brock Zearfoss [12]; 22. 14-Tony Stewart [11]; 23. 44-Trey Starks [21]; 24. It’s The Smoke Show At BAPS Showing the sprint car world a Tony Stewart of old in winning Sunday night’s Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 feature at BAPS Motor Speedway. For Stewart, the $5,000 victory was his first with the traveling All Stars since winning at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway over one year ago, bumping his career total to three during All Star competition. Cale Conley survived an intense battle with Paul McMahan, Lance Dewease and Carson Macedo to finish second during the Justin Snyder Salute to the Troops program, followed by Dewease, McMahan and Aaron Reutzel. “Anytime you can come to Central Pennsylvania and beat the Pennsylvania Posse is pretty special. These are some of the best drivers in the country. We are all very excited to be up here right now,” Stewart explained. “I try to learn from everyone I race with, especially my teammate, Donny Schatz. Donny is a true friend of mine and a mentor. We try to learn a lot from each other. He is a great person to have around.” Although Stewart’s march to the front started from the inside of row three, he did not crack into the top five for the first time, officially, until lap eight. After a red flag on lap three for Anthony Fiore, a caution on lap 11 stacked the field once again giving Stewart another opportunity to improve. When green flag action resumed, Stewart was able to immediately work beyond Aaron Reutzel for fourth, then setting aim for one of the three podium positions held down by Macedo, Conley and race leader McMahan. Less than a handful of circuits later, Stewart proved to the packed house at BAPS Motor Speedway that he was a man on a mission on Sunday evening, actually taking Macedo and Conley three wide into turns three and four on lap 14. Stewart hugged the bottom with Conley and Macedo racing through the middle and on the cushion. The move was gutsy, but it worked, eventually crossing under the flagstand to complete lap 14 in the runner-up spot, now with McMahan in his viewfinder. A caution on lap 16 gave Stewart an opportunity to restart on the tail tank of McMahan. Stewart took the lead on lap 18 and cruised to victory over Conley and Dewease. Kyle Larson, who started from the outside-pole position, led the first two circuits on Sunday evening at BAPS Motor Speedway before suffering from mechanical failure. The finish:14-Tony Stewart [5]; 2. 7K-Cale Conley [8]; 3. 69K-Lance Dewease [13]; 4. 13-Paul McMahan [1]; 5. 87-Aaron Reutzel [3]; 6. 3G-Carson Macedo [4]; 7. 11-Ryan Smith [6]; 8. 10H-Chad Kemenah [10]; 9. 48-Danny Dietrich [21]; 10. 49X-Tim Shaffer [11]; 11. 27-Greg Hodnett [18]; 12. 4-Brock Zearfoss [12]; 13. 22-Brandon Spithaler [16]; 14. 24-Lucas Wolfe [20]; 15. 21-Brian Montieth [7]; 16. 99M-Kyle Moody [15]; 17. 39-Cory Haas [23]; 18. 91-Kyle Reinhardt [14]; 19. 44-Trey Starks [22]; 20. Tim Shaffer Is Attica All Star Ace Adding to an illustrious career resume that now includes 63 Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 victories, Tim Shaffer opened the 2018 Dirt Classic Ohio at Attica Raceway Park with a victor Friday night. The $5,000 victory was Shaffer’s seventh at the Attica high banks during All Star competition. He took the lead on lap nine with a bold move in traffic and held off Carson Macedo and Cap Henry for the victory. “This is awesome. I hope I have a lot more years left in me,” said Shaffer alongside the Rudzik Excavating No. 49x. “This team is really working together and this new RPM car is awesome. Cody [Jacobs] is doing an awesome job. The whole Rudzik gang is here tonight. They are just a great group of guys to be with. We started the year off high, but kinda leveled off through the middle of the year. Now we are starting to get back rolling again. It feels great.” After a caution during the initial start that included Lee Jacobs and Dave Blaney, the Dirt Classic Ohio opener at Attica Raceway Park was officially underway with Macedo earning the early jump over polesitter Shaffer and Travis Philo. Macedo drove away in clean air for the first five circuits, quickly catching the tail-end of the field as the leaders approached the flagstand to complete lap six. By lap seven, Shaffer was clearly on the move and powered forward to pull even with Macedo to create a side-by-side battle for the top spot. The top two battled wheel-to-wheel for the next two circuits until Shaffer made a bid for the top spot on lap nine, using Attica’s infamous cushion to slingshot around Macedo at the exit of turn four to complete the circuit. Although traffic created an instant roadblock for the four-time All Star champion, the chaos quickly came to a close as caution flags appeared once again on lap 11. Green-flag action soon returned with Shaffer navigating an open track and clean air. It was not until lap 16 when traffic came back into the picture, and even then, Shaffer’s pace at the front of the field was uninterrupted. Although Shaffer raced in cruise control, it was the action behind him that was beginning to heat up which included Macedo, fifth-starting Cap Henry, fourth-starting Travis Philo, and third-starting Brock Zearfoss, all battling and exchanging positions inside the top five. Cap Henry, who undoubtedly was working the hardest to get near the front, utilized the lap 11 restart to move into fourth around Zearfoss, eventually working by Philo to take the third spot on lap 14. Soon thereafter, Zearfoss, the newly hired gun for Destiny Motorsports, also worked around the familiar No. 5t of Travis Philo to lock down the fourth spot on lap 23. Continuing his shuffle toward the front, Henry pounced once again, this time using a gnarly slide job in traffic to get by Macedo to take the runner-up spot on lap 29. Unfortunately for Henry, a momentum shift in the form of a caution on lap 31 erased all possibility of hunting down Tim Shaffer in traffic. The caution was followed by a red flag when Broc Martin tumbled on the restart. The green flag waved once again giving Shaffer clean air and an open track to work with. As Shaffer resumed his commanding lead, it was Macedo who took advantage of the restart, ultimately working by Henry to regain the runner-up spot. As the laps clicked up to 40, the top three remained the same with Shaffer holding on to earn the Dirt Classic Ohio opening night victory, followed by Macedo and Henry at the checkered flag. “The yellow flags actually played in our favor, but I really didn’t mind the traffic,” Shaffer continued. “Cody gave me a car that was able to move all around the race track so the traffic wasn’t an issue. I actually put my wing a little too far back there toward the end and I thought maybe I was going to give it up, but it all worked out. You could really move all around tonight; top, bottom, through the middle. Hats off the track crew here tonight. They did an awesome job. Tomorrow is a whole new night. We’ll have to put ourselves in position, but we are going to try and do it again.” Matt Miller won the late model feature. The finish:Feature (40 Laps): 1. 49X-Tim Shaffer [1]; 2. 3G-Carson Macedo [2]; 3. 4L-Cap Henry [5]; 4. 4-Brock Zearfoss [3]; 5. 22-Brandon Spithaler [16]; 6. 35B-Stuart Brubaker [8]; 7. 11N-Parker Price-Miller [14]; 8. 5T-Travis Philo [4]; 9. 11-Ryan Smith [7]; 10. 5R-Byron Reed [20]; 11. 87-Aaron Reutzel [19]; 12. 13-Paul McMahan [6]; 13. 8M-TJ Michael [22]; 14. 7K-Cale Conley [9]; 15. 2+-Brian Smith [24]; 16. 10H-Chad Kemenah [18]; 17. 97-Broc Martin [12]; 18. 23-DJ Foos [23]; 19. 49-Shawn Dancer [17]; 20. 16-Chris Andrews [10]; 21. 97G-Hunter Schuerenberg [13]; 22. 81-Lee Jacobs [11]; 23. 70-Dave Blaney [15]; 24. 22C-Cole Duncan Source: speedsport.com/sprints-midgets/other-sprint-cars/tim-shaffer-attica-star-ace/

Macedo Romps To Attica All Star Triumph
Carson Macedo finally got the monkey off his back at Attica Raceway Park on Saturday night. The past couple of years the Lemoore, Calif., driver looked on his way to an Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions feature win at Attica, only to have a mechanical issue. It all came together Saturday as he claimed the Dirt Classic Ohio victory in dominating fashion to close out the season at Attica Raceway Park on All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads Night. Macedo and Cale Thomas brought the field to green for the 40-lap feature, with Thomas leading the first circuit over Macedo, Craig Mintz, Lee Jacobs and Cap Henry. Thomas slid off the high side of the turn two exit on lap two and Macedo drove into the lead with Mintz, Jacobs and Henry in tow as Thomas fell back to fifth. With seven laps scored Macedo prepared to enter lapped traffic and Mintz closed quickly. Mintz drove under Macedo for the top spot on lap nine just before Stuart Brubaker tumbled while battling for sixth. On the restart Macedo executed a slider for the lead with a tremendous battle ensuing for third involving Jacobs, Thomas and Henry. Broc Martin spun with 11 laps scored and when the green flew so did Macedo, pulling away to a commanding lead over Mintz, Thomas, Jacobs, Henry and Shaffer. By lap 17 Macedo had once again found the back of the field and that allowed Mintz to close again. But, Macedo held his composure and picked the lapped cars off and started to pull away with 14 laps to go. Mintz experienced some sort of mechanical issues by lap 30 and started to fall through the pack as Thomas took second with Shaffer up to third and Jacobs in fourth. With nine laps remaining Macedo had built his lead to nearly four seconds over Thomas. Mintz would coast to a stop with six laps to go with the running order Macedo, Thomas, Shaffer, Jacobs and Henry. On the ensuing restart Macedo bobbled a little on the turn two cushion but Thomas could not take advantage. Macedo drove away for the win over Thomas, Shaffer, Jacobs, and Henry. “This is one of the hardest places in the world to win at in my opinion. There’s so many good local guys…they have a lot of talent. We’ve been so fast here in previous All Star shows we’ve just had bad luck or things happen that set us back. To get the win for my guys, Joe Gaerte, Eric Slade with Slade Shocks, Tim and Cindy Norman and all my sponsors…it’s definitely a team effort. I have a blast driving their car and I’m looking forward to the rest of the All Star season,” Macedo said. “It was really cool to battle with Craig (Mintz). He gave me a shot out here in Ohio before anyone else did…he put me in a race car and allowed me to get some laps around these places and gave me seat time and confidence. I’m for ever grateful to him and his dad Les…they are awesome people,” added Macedo. “Thanks to all the fans…what a great turn out.” For Thomas, who scored his first ever All Star win at Attica earlier in the year, a runner-up finish – while frustrating – was rewarding. “Carson had the top rolling really good and congrats to that team. They have always been fast here. We had a fast car tonight. We were battling with Carson for the lead at the beginning and I kind of protected there…I knew he was going to slide me and I got in those ruts in one and bounced off the track. I thought I was going way back but luckily I kept it under me and kept going and fell back to fifth and picked guys off in lapped traffic. In those long runs I was really good. I didn’t need those restarts until that last one. I tried to scare him on the top and tried to get him all tight and he kind of did but he was jus really fast,” said Thomas. Friday night’s winner Tim Shaffer battled among the top five the entire 40 laps and came home third. He was followed by Jacobs and Henry. Paul Weaver won the 25-lap 305 sprint car feature. The finish:

Pete Jacobs Memorial Goes To Shaffer It was an emotional victory Sunday night for Demyan-Rudzik Racing crew chief Cody Jacobs as his driver, Tim Shaffer, banked $10,000 for winning the Pete Jacobs Memorial at Wayne County Speedway. It was Shaffer’s second Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions victory during a three-day period. Shaffer took the lead on lap 18 of the 35-lap race and raced away for his 64thAll Star victory. Ryan Smith and Gio Scelzi completed the podium. “Man, what an awesome race,” Shaffer said. “This place has always been kinda tough for me, but today being Cody’s [Jacobs] birthday, and this race honoring his great-grandfather, I really wanted to win it. This car was just awesome and I really drove the wheels off of it.” “We were really close last year and ran second,” Cody Jacobs added. “Like I said earlier tonight, this race isn’t just about the $10,000. I’m really happy to get it for my family. We’re having a great year and we have some great people behind us. Everyone seems to be really working together and they are giving us great equipment. I believe I’m working with one of the best in the world and as long as I am able to do my job, I think we’ll always be OK.” Shaffer’s path to victory lane was impressive. Although the first five laps were relatively quiet for the former All Star champion, Shaffer’s first big move of the evening occurred just after a lap six restart, actually picking up a pair of positions on lap eight that propelled Shaffer from fifth to third around Aaron Reutzel and Cap Henry. Race leader and polesitter Ryan Smith, who survived an early duel with Aaron Reutzel for the top spot on lap three, escaped to a near-three second lead after the lap six caution. Although he seemed invincible out front, lapped traffic, which came into play for the first time with 12 laps in the books, proved to be Smith’s demise, allowing Gio Scelzi, who forced his way to second after the lap six caution, and Shaffer to close the gap in a hurry. By lap 16, Scelzi, aboard the Indy Race Parts No. 71, was right on the tail tank of Smith with Shaffer in tow. Before caution flags could appear for the second time on lap 17, Shaffer had already worked his away around Scelzi to clinch the runner-up spot, thus setting up a restart Shaffer in Smith’s rearview mirror. When green-flag action returned, Shaffer was able to keep pace with Smith for the entire circuit, eventually setting up his winning move on lap 18. Using the turn two cushion, Shaffer got a great run down the backstretch and forced his way underneath Smith at the entrance of turn three. The move stuck, soon beating Smith in a drag race back to the flagstand to complete the 18th circuit. Although the main event was halted on three more occasions for cautions on laps 20, 21, and 25, two of which for stoppages and ultimately an open red, Shaffer remained untouchable at the front of the field, extending his advantage to well over two seconds, twice. The main event’s final caution on lap 25 gave Shaffer a clear track and clean air to work with for the final 11 circuits. Although the leaders reached traffic again on lap 31, Shaffer proved to be too strong, never faltering and crossing under the final checkers by a comfortable margin of victory. The finish:Feature (35 Laps): 1. 49X-Tim Shaffer [8]; 2. 11-Ryan Smith [1]; 3. 71-Gio Scelzi [4]; 4. 4L-Cap Henry [3]; 5. 87-Aaron Reutzel [2]; 6. 10H-Chad Kemenah [6]; 7. 97G-Hunter Schuerenberg [5]; 8. 3G-Carson Macedo [15]; 9. 22C-Cole Duncan [9]; 10. 13-Paul McMahan [14]; 11. 7K-Cale Conley [19]; 12. 22-Brandon Spithaler [24]; 13. 8M-TJ Michael [23]; 14. 5M-Max Stambaugh [20]; 15. 70-Dave Blaney [13]; 16. 11N-Parker Price-Miller [11]; 17. 9M-Jordan Ryan [25]; 18. 81-Lee Jacobs [10]; 19. 4-Brock Zearfoss [18]; 20. 57X-Andrew Palker [12]; 21. 97-Broc Martin [22]; 22. 5T-Travis Philo [7]; 23. Smith Holds Off Rahmer At Selinsgrove Holding off a hard charging Freddie Rahmer, Ryan Smith put fans on their feet on Saturday night in Central Pennsylvania, ultimately earning a first Jim Nace Memorial National Open victory at Selinsgrove Speedway. For Smith, the route to Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 victory lane was not only challenging for the driver, but also challenging for the crew, as the team discovered a hole in the right-rear tire during an open red just before the midpoint of the 30-lap main event. Despite the setback, Smith and his team prevailed, eventually leading every lap to score the $10,000 payday. The All Star victory, aboard the Mike McGhee & Associates No. 11, was Smith’s second of the season and his eighth overall with the Series. Freddie Rahmer held on to finish, just ahead of Brian Brown, Lucas Wolfe and T.J. Stutts. “This is all because of the crew guys standing behind me,” Smith said. “We started on this thing in May. We struggled some at first, but we kept getting faster and faster and now here we are in September with a big win. They work their butts off, that’s for sure. I definitely wouldn’t be standing here without their hard work and support.” Smith and Stutts led the field to green on Saturday night at Selinsgrove Speedway. Although Smith was able to get the initial jump, it was Rahmer who was making the early moves, actually advancing from eighth to fifth by the time the leaders crossed under the flagstand to complete the first circuit. The top-five remained unchanged until the main event’s first caution appeared on lap six for a slowing Michael Walter. When green flag action returned, Rahmer made another move toward the front, this time driving around Lucas Wolfe to take the fourth spot. Just three circuits later, Rahmer pounced again, this time taking the third position from Stutts. Traffic came into play for the first time on lap 13 which slowed Smith’s pace at the front of the field, ultimately allowing Brian Brown, who raced in the runner-up spot the entire distance, and Rahmer to catch Smith in a hurry. The very next circuit, Rahmer advanced in the running order yet again, this time beating Brian Brown in a drag race off of turn four to complete lap 14. A caution on lap 15 for a slowing Tyler Esh halted the feature field yet again allowing Rahmer to catch his breath. Due to the number of combined laps completed, the main event’s second caution resulted in a fuel stop. During the five-minute open red stop Smith’s team noticed a hole in their right-rear tire. Instead of replacing the tire and forfeiting the lead, the team decided to plug the hole and attempt to finish the final 16 circuits. The decision proved to be worth $10,000, but not without a fight from Rahmer. The field returned to green with Ryan Smith in control once again over Rahmer, Brown, Wolfe and Stutts. Although the action was limited for the next few circuits, it was what happened after the feature’s third and final caution on lap 23 that created the stir at the front of the field. When the green lights kicked back on, so did Freddie Rahmer, instantly applying pressure on Smith as the pair completed lap 23. By lap 24, Rahmer was all over the ‘Kunkletown Kid,’ actually pulling even with Smith to create a side-by-side battle for the lead. Although the wheel-to-wheel battle ended in Smith’s favor, Rahmer was far from raising the white flag. The recent All Star winner at Port Royal Speedway threw everything he had at Smith for the next three circuits, pounding the cushion as Smith ran the bottom, nearly driving around Smith in turn four on three consecutive occasions. Despite Rahmer’s mad attempts, Smith prevailed, eventually pulling away to a 1.3 second advantage at the finish. “I really wasn’t sure where to go there after that last restart,” Ryan Smith explained. “During the fuel stop, my crew was actually telling me to run the bottom, but I was so comfortable running the top. I knew Freddie [Rahmer] was going to be good, but if he was that good, he was going to have to drive around me.” The Finish:Feature (30 Laps): 1. 11-Ryan Smith [1]; 2. 51-Freddie Rahmer [8]; 3. 21-Brian Brown [4]; 4. 24-Lucas Wolfe [6]; 5. 11T-TJ Stutts [2]; 6. 10H-Chad Kemenah [3]; 7. 27-Greg Hodnett [5]; 8. 12-Blane Heimbach [14]; 9. 48-Danny Dietrich [13]; 10. 13-Paul McMahan [11]; 11. 87-Aaron Reutzel [9]; 12. 29-Jason Shultz [18]; 13. 3G-Carson Macedo [16]; 14. 70-Dave Blaney [7]; 15. 39M-Anthony Macri [15]; 16. 7K-Cale Conley [21]; 17. 17B-Steve Buckwalter [19]; 18. 33-Jared Esh [17]; 19. 8S-Trenton Sheaffer [22]; 20. 4-Brock Zearfoss [12]; 21. 35-Tyler Esh [20]; 22. 9-Ryan Linder [24]; 23. 1R-Kyle Reinhardt [10]; 24. 33W-Michael Walter [23] Source: speedsport.com/sprints-midgets/other-sprint-cars/smith-holds-off-rahmer-selinsgrove/

Reutzel Charges To First Eldora Victory Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 championship contender Aaron Reutzel made his ninth All Star victory of the season look effortless on Saturday night at Eldora Speedway. Reutzel charged from the fourth row to take the lead in 12 laps for his first victory at the historic half-mile oval during the 37th running of the 4-Crown Nationals. Parker Price-Miller started outside the front row and led the first 11 laps before finishing second. His Indy Race Parts teammate, Gio Scelzi, Travis Philo and Cole Duncan rounded out the top five. In honor of Greg Hodnett, who was killed in a sprint car crash on Thursday, the race ran 27 laps. “It is unbelievable to win at Eldora,” Reutzel explained. “This win is all because of my crew chief, Grant Boyum. What a race car. We had the boss’ car out last night during the Outlaw show and we weren’t any good. We tried some things and they didn’t work, but tonight Grant did what he had to do and this car was incredible. It was going to be tough to beat Parker [Price-Miller], but luckily I had a car that could drive through the center and rotate well. This is exciting.” Reutzel’s charge to the front started right from the drop of the green flag, advancing four positions during the first three circuits of the 27-lapper. A red flag on lap eight involving Carson Macedo, who was battling within the top five at the time, gave Reutzel an opportunity to capitalize. The restart resulted in Reutzel advancing two more positions, ultimately getting by Brock Zearfoss for third, then utilizing a slider in turns three and four to get by Cole Duncan to take second on lap nine. Caution flags flew again on lap 11 once again setting up a single-file restart, this time putting Reutzel right on the back bumper of race-long leader, Parker Price Miller. When green flag action returned, Reuzel made his move, actually chasing Price-Miller back to the flagstand to complete lap 11 before getting underneath the Indy Race Parts No. 71p entry at the midpoint of turns one and two on lap 12. For the second time in four laps, a big move by Reutzel equaled success, keeping Price-Miller behind him as the duo raced back to the start/finish line to complete the circuit. Despite caution flags reappearing on lap 15 creating another single-file restart, the field had nothing for Reutzel. “We have one hell of a points battle going on right now and it has taken all the fun out of the racing,” Reutzel continued. “We needed this win bad. I didn’t want to go into the final round behind someone in the point chase. We want to win this championship so bad.” The finish:Feature (27 Laps): 1. 87-Aaron Reutzel [8]; 2. 71P-Parker Price-Miller [2]; 3. 71-Gio Scelzi [11]; 4. 5T-Travis Philo [15]; 5. 12N-Cole Duncan [4]; 6. 70-Dave Blaney [18]; 7. 99-Brady Bacon [5]; 8. 11-Ryan Smith [10]; 9. 1G-Max Stambaugh [12]; 10. 49-Shawn Dancer [14]; 11. 11N-Buddy Kofoid [23]; 12. 13-Paul McMahan [7]; 13. 71H-Randy Hannagan [20]; 14. 81-Lee Jacobs [21]; 15. 10H-Chad Kemenah [17]; 16. 45-Trevor Baker [16]; 17. 7K-Cale Conley [22]; 18. 97G-Hunter Schuerenberg [13]; 19. 22M-Dan McCarron [19]; 20. 71M-Paul May [3]; 21. 35-Tyler Esh [25]; 22. 59N-Bryan Nuckles [24]; 23. 4-Brock Zearfoss [1]; 24. 59-Cory Eliason [9]; 25. 3G-Carson Macedo Source: speedsport.com/sprints-midgets/other-sprint-cars/reutzel-charges-first-eldora-victory/

All Star Finale Canceled, Reutzel Named Champion
Heavily saturated grounds from the precipitation received on Saturday evening has forced Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 and Kokomo Speedway officials to cancel the #GYATKExtravaganza/All Star season finale. Track officials were expecting the facility to dry during the overnight hours and into Sunday morning, but the amount of rain received was too much to withstand. The event will not be rescheduled. As a result, Aaron Reutzel, a nine-time winner during All Star Circuit of Champions competition, has captured his first All Star Circuit of Champions title. The Texan ended his campaign with 30 top-10 finishes in 41 feature starts, 21 of them within the top five. Reutzel’s ninth and final victory occurred on the highbanks of Eldora Speedway during 4-Crown Nationals weekend. Reutzel’s season performance also translated into an Owner Championship for Baughman-Reutzel Motorsports. For their efforts, the team will receive a $50,000 top prize. Shaffer Chases Down Stewarts At Ocala Series owner Tony Stewart came within two laps of opening the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Circuit of Champions season with a victory Thursday night at Bubba Raceway Park. But racelong pursuer Tim Shaffer, who said he “lost the race four or five times,” persevered and claimed the $5,000 win over Shane Stewart, Tony Stewart, fast-timer Carson Short and Sheldon Haudenschild. Tony Stewart got the drop on polesitter and front row companion Carson Macedo on the break and by lap five was lapping the back markers with the third-starting Shaffer in hot pursuit. Shaffer got alongside the leader a few times during the first half of the race but couldn’t get any further until lap 19, when he dived under Stewart entering turn one to get the lead. But before the lap was completed, Macedo stalled in turn four and Stewart was back on top for the restart with Shaffer and Shane Stewart, up from sixth, ready to continue their attack. Tony Stewart got a great start but Shaffer struggled, with Shane Stewart, Short and a couple of other cars shooting past before he got going again. “It wouldn’t go on that last restart, so I decided to start looking for moisture,” tipped Shaffer. “I kept driving through the moisture and it let me drive back to the front.” Meanwhile, Shane Stewart caught Tony Stewart on lap 23 and grabbed the lead, only to have Tony, who’d been doing a masterful job in traffic all night, take it back two laps later. By then, Shaffer was back on the scene, following Tony Stewart past Shane Stewart. The next time around, Shaffer sailed around Tony Stewart. “It’s a tricky track and if you lose your momentum, you can lose a lot of positions,” summed up Shaffer. “On the other hand, it makes a great race for the fans.” Tony Stewart, commenting on getting through the endless traffic, said “the track was wide enough that you could run anywhere you needed to. But it’s a very technical track and you have to pick your spots. At the end, I was struggling but it was entirely my fault. I think I sealed a tire over spinning them before that last restart.” As for Shane Stewart, he was pleased with his second-place finish in his maiden voyage in the CJB Motorsports No. 5. “We had a good car and I’m happy with the result, considering it’s our first time out together,” he said. “Plus, I’ve never been here before and it’s a tricky place.” Chad Kemenah led the second five, trailed by Logan Schuchart, Brock Zearfoss, Cory Eliason and Aaron Reutzal. The finish:49X-Tim Shaffer [3]; 2. 5-Shane Stewart [6]; 3. 14-Tony Stewart [2]; 4. 21-Carson Short [8]; 5. 17S-Sheldon Haudenschild [4]; 6. K4-Chad Kemenah [5]; 7. 1S-Logan Schuchart [13]; 8. 70-Brock Zearfoss [7]; 9. 26-Cory Eliason [10]; 10. 87-Aaron Reutzel [12]; 11. M1-Mark Smith [15]; 12. 70X-Spencer Bayston [14]; 13. 7K-Cale Conley [11]; 14. 13-Paul McMahan [16]; 15. 17-Josh Baughman [9]; 16. 17W-Shane Golobic [22]; 17. 48-Danny Dietrich [21]; 18. 5W-Lucas Wolfe [17]; 19. Tim Shaffer Strikes Again On Ocala Dirt Night two of the Bubba’s Raceway Park Winter Nationals ended just like night one, with a beaming Tim Shaffer in victory lane. Shaffer’s second Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions score of the year came at the expense of fast-timer and dash winner Jacob Allen, who got snookered in traffic but was otherwise fast enough to win. Corey Eliason, who started on the pole with Allen alongside, was third ahead of Mark Smith and Chad Kemenah. With a light drizzle falling as the green was thrown, Allen shot away from the field and was lapping by his fourth tour of the odd-shaped three-eighths-mile oval. With traffic slowing his pace slightly, the leader soon had the third-starting Shaffer and Eliason on his back bumper doing everything possible to take command. A yellow on lap five for a slowing Jim Shuster got Allen out of traffic momentarily but four laps after the green reappeared, the lead trio was again knee deep in lapped cars. Five laps later, Shaffer found his opportunity and took it. “The track was wet enough already and we didn’t need any rain,” declared Shaffer post-race. “When it started hitting my visor, I told myself I had to get the lead before halfway in case they cancelled it. I knew the key would be who made fewer mistakes in the lapped cars and it turned out that’s how I got by Jacob. He’s really fast but it’s tough to be the leader in deals like that.” Tough indeed. When a lapped car slowed the leader’s progress off turn four two laps before halfway, Shaffer dove for the bottom and hit turn one with a lead he would easily hold to the end. Eliason did manage to excite the crowd when he get alongside Allen with two to go but the Californian couldn’t quite put him away. “We were good but lapped traffic was a huge factor,” tipped Eliason. “Tim was in the right place at the right time when we got to traffic.” “Tim Shaffer is a great race car driver and if you don’t make the right move in traffic he’ll get you,” summed up Allen. “But considering how we ran last night, second is great.” Lucas Wolfe led the second five, which included Allen’s teammate Logan Schuchart, Aaron Reutzal, Carson Short and Carson Macedo. Sheldon Haudenschild won the B-Main. The finish:Tim Shaffer, Jacob Allen, Cory Eliason, Mark Smith, Chad Kemenah, Lucas Wolfe, Logan Schuchart, Aaron Reutzel, Carson Short, Carson Macedo, Brock Zearfoss, Shane Golobic, Tony Stewart, Paul McMahan, Shane Stewart, Sheldon Haudenschild, Danny Dietrich, Josh Baughman, Cale Conley, John Garvin, Bradley Howard, Anthony Fiore, Danny Smith, Jim Shuster. Stewart Smokes Bubba All Star Field To use an old timers expression, Tony Stewart cleaned house at Bubba Raceway Park Saturday night. Stewart won his heat, the dash and the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions A-main on a track with more bite than a Florida alligator. A short but heavy late afternoon rainstorm left the track and pit area a quagmire, leading some dozen teams to opt out of racing either because they expected the show to be cancelled or track conditions to be horrible. The track crew went to work and produced a smooth, lightning fast surface for the 23 cars that eventually signed in for the finale of the three-night Winter Nationals series. Stewart’s flag-to-flag run was closely observed by outside front row starter Lucas Wolfe, who chased the retired NASCAR star for the entire 30 laps. “He beat me on the start, then in traffic he was driving away,” said Wolfe. “I got a run on him into turn one on the final restart, but I couldn’t cross him and that was that.” Paul McMahan hit the stripe third ahead of Mark Smith and Tim Shaffer. Stewart left in such a hurry on the start that he was out to more than a turn lead when he caught the back markers for the first time on lap three. A red flag on lap seven when Shane Golobic got caught up on the frontstretch and flipped brought Stewart back to the field, but when the green reappeared, it was the same story all over again. He was in traffic again by lap 12 and just kept attacking the slower cars aggressively and extending his lead over Wolfe. “I kept digging because I didn’t need any pressure in traffic tonight. I screwed myself up the other night and gave a win away,” said Stewart. “I figured I’d win it or lose it in traffic, so I kept looking ahead and getting where I had to be to lap a particular car the quickest. “We knew the track would be really fast when it rained, so we were ready for it.” By halfway, the sixth-starting Smith was all over Shaffer for fourth, with Brock Zearfoss and Carson Short hustling to join the battle as well. Then Colby Wormer stalled with six to go, ruining Stewart’s full straightaway lead. It also put him back in clean air and his pursuers in freight train formation, so the racing was effectively done except for Smith getting around Shaffer. “This is what happens when Mother Nature rains on you,” summed up McMahon, who was enjoying his best finish of the week. “It was a good night to start up front, because the track was narrow and fast. But we got it in.” Shaffer edged Cale Conley for fast time, with Stewart, Wolfe and Anthony Fiore sharing heat honors. Due to the short field, there was no B-main. The finish:Tony Stewart, Lucas Wolfe, Paul McMahan, Mark Smith, Tim Shaffer, Brock Zearfoss, Carson Short, Cale Conley, Bradley Howard, Danny Smith, Danny Dietrich, Anthony Fiore, Gary Kriess, George Hobaugh, Jim Shuster, Mallie Shuster, Colby Womer, Shane Stewart, Shane Golobic, Brandon Matus, Jeremy Hill, Max Stambaugh, Logan Schuchart, Jacob Allen. Shane Stewart Rules DIRTcar Nationals Opener
Night one of sprint car action at Volusia Speedway Park’s DIRTcar Nationals featured the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions, but up front it was a battle between a trio of World of Outlaws stars in new rides. When the dust settled, Shane Stewart had his first win in the GoMuddy.com No. 5 after running down and driving away from Daryn Pittman in the late stages of the 30-lap feature. David Gravel in the Priority Aviation No. 41 for Jason Johnson Racing was a solid third, ahead of Donny Schatz and Logan Schuchart. Pittman lined up on the pole by virtue of his win in the first dash and he scooted away from fast-timer Paul McMahan on the initial green flag. But fifth-starting Stewart made a hard charge around the bottom, running second by lap three. A lap five yellow brought the high-flying Pittman back to his pursuers and on the restart, Stewart got alongside Pittman on the backstretch, though he couldn’t get all the way by. Stewart kept the pressure on, and lap eight saw Pittman go right to the wall in turn two, letting Stewart close rapidly. The next time, around he dove under the leader in turns three and four. Meanwhile, Schatz delighted the crowd with a charge from the 11th row that got him into the top five, picking off cars wherever he got to them on the big, sweeping half-mile. By lap 12, Stewart was lapping cars by the handful as Pittman and Gravel dueled behind him. But as the duo seemed to slow in the late going, Stewart got even faster. “This win says a lot about all the work that went into the car over the winter months,” offered Stewart. “This car is notorious for getting faster as the race wears on. You have to be good at the end to win these races and tonight, we really were.” “Shane is a good driver in a good car and we just got beat,” summed up the disappointed Pittman. “Technically it’s not my first ride for Dennis Roth, as I ran a second car for them at Las Vegas one time, but it’s close enough that we’ll call it a solid first night, even if second does suck.” Gravel was smiling as well. “We’re happy with that!” noted Gravel. “We had trouble getting going on the start and restarts, but otherwise the car was great!” The finish:1. 5-Shane Stewart [5]; 2. 83-Daryn Pittman [1]; 3. 41-David Gravel [7]; 4. 15-Donny Schatz [22]; 5. 1S-Logan Schuchart [11]; 6. 1K-Kyle Larson [14]; 7. 49X-Tim Shaffer [12]; 8. 2-Carson Macedo [6]; 9. 87-Aaron Reutzel [10]; 10. 13-Paul McMahan [2]; 11. 49-Brad Sweet [18]; 12. 18-Ian Madsen [3]; 13. 14-Tony Stewart [4]; 14. 17-Sheldon Haudenschild [21]; 15. 9-Kasey Kahne [8]; 16. Volusia All Star Finale Is Sweet Brad Sweet was the man to beat on Thursday evening at Volusia Speedway Park, concluding the five-race Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 sweep through the Sunshine State with a $5,000 DIRTcar Nationals triumph. The victory, Sweet’s fourth in All Star Circuit of Champions competition and his first at the Barberville half-mile, was accomplished from the outside of row two, slowly picking his way through a stout contingent of frontrunners before earning the lead for the first time on lap 16. “You’re never going to win the race if you drive the same line as everyone else,” said the driver of the Kasey Kahne Racing No. 49 sprint car. “I’m always searching and looking for ways to get faster. I’ve learned that over the years from Donny Schatz. I can’t thank everyone enough for this. We have a few people from Wicked Cushion and Wicked Energy here tonight, so it was cool to get a win for those guys. It’s nice to get a win but the real season begins tomorrow.” Although shuffled back as far as fifth after the initial start, Brad Sweet wasted little time working his way back into winning contention, eventually maneuvering his focus from the topside of the speedway to the bottom to help boost his efforts. With slower traffic entering the picture as early as lap eight, Sweet capitalized and advanced two positions in less than five laps; passing Tony Stewart for third on lap 11 and Christopher Bell for second on lap 14, each while hugged to the bottom of Volusia Speedway Park. Continuing his efforts on the bottom of the speedway, it was not long before Sweet was on the tail tank of race-long leader, Daryn Pittman, actually pulling even with the Roth Motorsports, No. 83 entry by lap 15. The following circuit is when Sweet made his move, using his signature dive to drive underneath Pittman to take command by the exit of turn two. Although Sweet was strong enough to pull away initially, heavy doses of slower traffic soon layered the speedway forcing Sweet to utilize the top and bottom grooves of the ultra-fast half-mile. Logan Schuchart, who started alongside Sweet in row two, made things interesting in the closing circuits and actually closed-in within one second of Sweet while the pair frantically navigated traffic. The Hanover, Pa., native moved into second on lap 25. At that time, Sweet held a two-second advantage. “I knew the bottom would be there. The top was just really fast there at the beginning,” Sweet said. “I honestly thought I heard the officials call a yellow at the beginning and I actually checked up and got on the brakes. Then I realized we were still racing. Regardless, I thought we did a really good job getting the car to battle through lapped traffic. I ended up getting pretty tight there at the end and I thought somebody was probably breathing down my neck. I was just trying to drive as hard as I could the last few laps. I was really happy to see the checkers.” Capitalizing on his late-race surge, Shark Racing’s Logan Schuchart held on to finish second during the non-stop, 30-lap program, followed by Daryn Pittman, Christopher Bell and Tim Shaffer. The finish:1. 49-Brad Sweet [4]; 2. 1S-Logan Schuchart [3]; 3. 83-Daryn Pittman [2]; 4. 39-Christopher Bell [1]; 5. 49X-Tim Shaffer [7]; 6. 41-David Gravel [18]; 7. 14-Tony Stewart [6]; 8. 13-Paul McMahan [10]; 9. 15-Donny Schatz [22]; 10. 5-Shane Stewart [11]; 11. 71-Parker Price-Miller [5]; 12. 87-Aaron Reutzel [24]; 13. 11K-Kraig Kinser [19]; 14. 70-Brock Zearfoss [8]; 15. 2-Carson Macedo [9]; 16. 17-Sheldon Haudenschild [20]; 17. 1A-Jacob Allen [12]; 18. 1K-Kyle Larson [16]; 19. 18-Ian Madsen [21]; 20. 5W-Lucas Wolfe [14]; 21. 9-Kasey Kahne [17]; 22. 17W-Shane Golobic [13]; 23. 84-Tom Harris [23]; 24. 21-Brian Brown [15] Lap Leaders: Daryn Pittman (1-15), Brad Sweet (16-30) Source: speedsport.com/sprints-midgets/other-sprint-cars/volusia-star-finale-sweet/

All Star Sprints Returning To Fremont Speedway After a near-three and half year hiatus, the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 will make their return to northwest Ohio’s Fremont Speedway. The series has made 122 appearances across nearly four and a half decades. The traveling All Star Circuit of Champions will invade Fremont Speedway on Sunday, May 26, capping off a three-race, Memorial Day weekend swing that also includes visits to Attica Raceway Park (May 24) and Wayne County Speedway (May 25). All three events will award $5,000 top prizes. “On behalf of the entire management group, we are thrilled to have the All Star Circuit of Champions return to Fremont Speedway in 2019,” Ryan Schiets explained, member of Fremont Speedway management. “We were a little late to the table, so we weren’t even sure an All Star show was possible in 2019, but we continued to stay in touch with Tony [Stewart] and Ross Paulson. We appreciate their willingness to help make this happen. This is a big stepping stone for us at Fremont. We are working to make this event a major success so the potential for more than one show in 2020 is a real possibility.” The All Star Circuit of Champions last visited the semi-banked, third-mile clay oval on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015, for the Jim Ford Classic. Ryan Smith was the victor, earning $10,000 in the process, as well as a first-ever All Star victory at Fremont. The Jim Ford Classic triumph was Smith’s third and final Series victory of the 2015 season. “I just want to thank everyone who made this possible,” Ryan Schiets continued. “The All Stars and Fremont Speedway are synonymous with one another. We are ecstatic to resume that tradition.” Source: speedsport.com/sprints-midgets/other-sprint-cars/all-star-sprints-back-fremont-speedway/

Elliason Banks $10,000 All Star Prize Cory Eliason banked $10,000 for his first Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions victory Thursday night at Virginia Motor Speedway. Driving the Rudeen Racing No. 26, Eliason took the lead early in the 30-lap feature after starting third, and held the point the rest of the way despite a myriad of yellow and red flags, including a red flag for Dave Blaney’s flip. “My guys gave me a great race car. We kinda struggled during qualifying, but we came out swinging for the heat race, dash and feature, and came out with a win,” Elliason said. “We did this for our car owner’s son, Rayce, who passed away. His birthday is tomorrow. This is a great honor to him.” Eliason held off Central Pennsylvania traveler Danny Dietrich for the victory. “I did not need that last yellow flag,” Dietrich said, “Man, we were rolling pretty good on the bottom. I think we had a little bit of a steering gear issue tonight, but once I figured out it wasn’t going to fail, I could concentrate on racing. Hopefully we stay dry at Williams Grove Speedway and we’ll get to try again.” Brock Zearfoss, Cale Conley and Aaron Reutzel completed the top five on the state-of-the-art half-mile oval Reutzel, the defending series champion, started 22nd. The event was the first of four consecutive nights of racing for the series. The finish:Cory Eliason, Danny Dietrich, Brock Zearfoss, Cale Conley, Aaron Reutzel, Tony Stewart, Paul McMahan, Gerard McIntyre, Lucas Wolfe, Spencer Bayston, Skylar Gee, Ryan Smith, Greg Wilson, Tyler Esh, Dale Blaney, Mallie Shuster, Tim Shaffer, David Quackenbush, George Hobaugh, Anthony Fiore, Dylan Cisney, Dave Blaney, Rick Elliot, Dalton Dietrich. Reutzel Is Attica All Star Ace
It has been nearly six weeks since the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 last made a competitive lap, but despite the frustrating stretch of poor weather resulting in a long gap in the schedule, Aaron Reutzel never missed a beat. The reigning series champion and point leader picked up $5,000 for his first victory at Attica Raceway Park on Friday night. Although dominant during the second half of the 40-lap program, the pilot of the Baughman-Reutzel Motorsports entry was forced to chase fellow All Star full-timer Brock Zearfoss for the first 21 circuits. It was not until lap 22 when Zearfoss, who was attempting to navigate heavy lapped traffic, hooked a rut and spun all alone at the front of the field. Zearfoss’ mistake was an obvious lucky break for Reutzel, but the reigning Series champion was in close proximity of the top spot up until that point, actually earning command for a brief stint after a caution on lap 13. Reutzel’s slide job attempt during the ensuing restart failed, but the Texan never lost track of the Premier Motorsports entry. When the 40-lap main event’s dust finally settled, it was Buddy Kofoid who chased Reutzel to the final checkers, followed by Cap Henry, Shawn Dancer and Jac Haudenschild. “We had a really great race car here tonight. Grant and the guys have been busting their butts in trying to make me better at these tracks in Ohio, Attica included,” Reutzel explained. “I felt like we could make good laps here. Luckily, we started up front and didn’t get caught up with Brock’s [Zearfoss] spin. I’m happy that we were able to capitalize on our starting position this time.” After inheriting the top spot on lap 22, Reutzel’s next challenge was in the form of lapped traffic, eventually coming into play for the first time for the new leader on lap 28. Buddy Kofoid, who started second on the grid, but faded to third after the initial start, was starting to make up ground on Reutzel as the traffic started to intensify. The California phenom chased Reutzel down to a car length by lap 33, soon pulling even with the familiar No. 87 at the entrance of turn one on the following circuit. Despite the effort, Reutzel’s championship-earning experience with traffic proved to be too strong, as a bold, three-wide move to split a pair of slower cars sealed his winning fate. Although Reutzel was able to stretch his late-race advantage to nearly a straightaway, utilizing the very topside of the speedway, an uncooperative lapped car nearly caused a similar fate that Zearfoss faced. Luckily for Reutzel, his outcome was different. “That last lap, I had a lap car change lanes on me and that had me all mixed up. It wasn’t his fault, he didn’t know I was there. Luckily, I was able to maintain control and not spit out, because that’s what I thought was going to happen,” Reutzel continued. “You gotta go whenever you’re leading like that. Racing with Brock early in the race and watching him in traffic allowed me to know where to go when I was leading.” “He’s always fast wherever he goes,” Kofoid said. “I gave it everything we got, but we came up one short. So far, this is four podiums in a row for this team at Attica. We’ve been in every finishing position except the one Aaron is in right now, but we’ll keep working and try again soon.” Paul Weaver won the 305 sprint car feature and Rusty Schlenk topped the late model main event. Aaron Reutzel scores 15th All Star victory of 2019 in dominating fashion at Hagerstown Speedway For the first time in over 36 years, the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 made their presence at the half-mile at Hagerstown Speedway in Hagerstown, Maryland. The near-four decade hiatus may have created some uncertainty for many of the full-time All Stars attempting to tackle the northern Maryland oval, but if one thing was for certain at the conclusion of Sunday’s visit, nobody was a match for Clute, Texas’ Aaron Reutzel. Reutzel, driver of the familiar Baughman-Reutzel Motorsports/Folkens Brothers Trucking/Dissolvalloy/Fischer Body Shop/Hollywood Blasting & Coating/No. 87 sprint car, started from the pole position on the Hagerstown grid and never missed a beat, eventually leading all 30 circuits while maintaining a lead pushing four circuits during different segments of the main event. For Reutzel, the $5,000 triumph increases his season win count to 15, five of which taking shape during the month of September. In addition, the Hagerstown Speedway victory all but sealed Reutzel’s 2019 All Star championship fate. Taking into consideration his 148-point lead over Dale Blaney, a simple qualifying attempt during the Eldora Speedway finale on Saturday, September 28, will make his title official. “We had a phenomenal race car, that’s for sure,” Aaron Reutzel explained in Hagerstown Speedway victory lane. “I felt like I could go anywhere. When you have a car that good, you can kinda go around there at your own pace and save your stuff. Having a tire at the end is a big deal in racing today. The way these race tracks are out here, you have to have a tire at the end.” Reutzel’s campaign at the front of the field was interrupted by a pair of cautions, one on lap seven and another on lap 21. Despite each of the stoppages snapping commanding leads, just over two seconds on lap six and just under three seconds on lap 20, Reutzel remained collected. In fact, the only instance of pressure from a fellow competitor occurred during a segment of green flag action in traffic when Danny Dietrich, who started third on the grid, drove into second on lap 15, next setting his aim on Reutzel. The Gettysburg, Pennsylvania-native was able to continue to use slower cars to a slight advantage, ultimately chopping Reutzel’s four-second command down to 2.9 seconds just before the lap 21 caution. Although the ensuing restart set-up a prime opportunity for Dietrich to pounce, his speed proved no match for Reutzel’s mobility in clean air. The Texan quickly escaped and built a lead that equaled 2.59 seconds by the time the final checkers flew. Freddie Rahmer followed Dietrich and Reutzel to the finish, with Dale Blaney and Brian Brown in tow. “I have bills to pay,” Aaron Reutzel laughed when discussing a successful last few weeks. “We are all out here having fun, but we continue to work really hard. We want to win. The whole team wants to win. And we have a lot of people who help make this all possible, my crew, Cheeseburger and Jim Bob, included.” Last on the schedule, but packed with plenty of prestige, Tony Stewart’s All Star Circuit of Champions will conclude their 2019 campaign with one final stop in the Buckeye State, set to invade the World’s Greatest Dirt Track for the 48th running of the 4-Crown Nationals. Joining the stage with all three national touring divisions of the United States Auto Club (USAC), Tony Stewart’s All Star Circuit of Champions will invade the highbanks of Eldora Speedway on Saturday, September 28. Not only will the Series crown a 2019 champion, but the 4-Crown Nationals program will award a $5,000 payday.
