Mat Oxley Rossi & Crutchlow haven't made it into Q2. Poor conditions in FP3, so no real chance to get inside the top ten overall
It's very windy here - possibly the cause of Marquez going down at turn 14? Moments before Lorenzo also went down at turn 6. Both OK, Lorenzo highside; Marquez on the kerb when he went down
After his early fall, Marc Marquez93 returned to track to set a 1'54.677 and lead FP3.

Jorge Lorenzo: “I’m very happy, confident and comfortable with the bike. We have a lot of potential and we can arrive there. It’s a good sign, as was the ‘morning’, we were very fast but still need to understand the bike a bit more in colder conditions. We can be competitive.”
Petrucci: "If Marquez is that fast in Qatar, then we’ll have to worry.": "I had put him among the favorites, even though he usually struggles here, but both he and Lorenzo are already fast. He could have done better in the time attack, but I'm happy."

You can see the steam coming off the track when the riders run off-line. Qatar circuit gets so hot that when the dew forms, it turns to undymanic steam (only released when disrupted by a bike tyre in this instance)

2019 Qatar Moto3 Qualifying Result: One Can’t Tango With Poor Timing Zara Daniela on Sat, 2019-03-09
The lightweight class’ first attempt at a MotoGP-style qualifying format came with additional challenges, namely strong winds pushing the riders around and tempting them into pursuing a slipstream – as if they needed such temptation. The two men who dominated practice were on the pace straight away, Romano Fenati and Aron Canet sharing top position until the final charge, when fortune favoured the punctual. The Spaniard had great positioning for his fastest lap but was stuck at the front of the group for the final change and could not benefit from a slipstream. However, his early lap proved good enough amongst the shenanigans around him and Canet snatched the first pole position of the year.
Lorenzo Dalla Porta looked set to give him a run for his money late on, but the Italian got held up in a massive group and missed out by two tenths of a second. Kaito Toba put together an excellent session, where he briefly held provisional pole before settling for the final spot on the front row. Q1 survivor John McPhee was in prime position chasing the poleman for much of the session and after an initial cancelled lap, crossed the line as fourth fastest. Last year’s poleman, Niccolo Antonelli, would have been happy to know he would qualify fifth after crashing out on his very first lap and having to rely on just one timed lap to go from last to the second row of the grid.
Albert Arenas grabbed the final spot on row two, while Toni Arbolino held on to seventh position through a whole lot of luck. The Snipers Team’s timing let them down today, Arbolino leaving the pits so late for his final run that he was only ever going to get practice starts out of it. Meanwhile, teammate Fenati missed the chance for one final run by about four seconds and got pushed back all the way down to 11th position. But back on row three, Arbolino will be in good company from top Q1 qualifier Celestino Vietti and FP3 headliner Vicente Perez. With Fenati stuck in the middle of row four, the Italian's immediate challengers will be Raul Fernandez and Gabriel Rodrigo.

2019 Qatar MotoGP FP4 Result: The Perfect Mix For Petrucci Zara Daniela on Sat, 2019-03-09
Darkness had fully set in by the time the premier class got their last low pressure run of the weekend going. With Marc Marquez keeping busy in the gravel trap on a less than ideal hard front tyre, the Ducatis were out to play on softer rubber and claiming the top of the timesheets with a string of low 1:55s for Danilo Petrucci and Andrea Dovizioso. Ducati’s new boy was particularly enjoying the cooler conditions on all softs and threw in the most 1:54 times of the session but Dovizioso was not too far behind on mediums. Maverick Vinales wanted a part in the play as well and topped off a consistent run in the mid 1:55s with a 1:54 on fairly used rubber, bringing the top three riders within eight hundredths of a second.
Jack Miller mingled with the factory bikes as well, aided somewhat by chasing Marquez on a fast lap and finished fourth, although a bit off the leading trio’s pace. Fabio Quartararo is making a habit of being the second best Yamaha, this time in fifth position, under three tenths slower than Vinales. Despite torturing that hard front tyre into an early crash, Marquez stuck to his choice, matched it with a soft rear for the final ten minutes and calmed down his horses to have a quiet end to practice in sixth position – four tenths down on the leader and not quite as impressive on race pace.
Joan Mir was half a second off Petrucci but had a quiet session into the top seven, which could not be said of his teammate. Takaaki Nakagami and Aleix Espargaro were also persistent presences in the top positions, finishing eighth and ninth in FP4. Despite initially being tipped as a race favourite, Alex Rins added a third crash of the weekend in turn two and rounded out the top ten with a set of mid 1:55s, in an attempt to regain confidence.
With the top 14 riders within a second of the leader, two men who missed that cut-off were Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi. The Spaniard had a cautious return to action after his nasty FP3 highside, while the Italian was the last Yamaha in the standings once more, struggling to even get into the 1:55s on medium tyres.

Peter Bom My summary of the Qatar MotoGP Qualifying results: Vinalez is in the best form of his life. Honda has the more problems with the front as the wind cools the tyres. Miller should have been on pole, but did a 'Miller'. Rins is in trouble. Yamaha lacks topspeed, big time. Rossi: "I do not have the step for a comeback": Valentino will start 14 ° in Qatar: "I have no confidence in the front and ruin the tire too much, for the moment we do not know why" Mat Oxley This is what Indonesia's Mandalika Resort MotoGP/WSB Circuit on Lombok island should look like, although the exact circuit layout has yet to be be finalised. Looks pretty good so far. First races due in 2021 ![](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/D1PpSdzX4AIN2Il.jpg)

Neil Spalding: So a major set up change for Vale Yellow46 Yamaha MotoGP bike. I think they will try the same chassis as Maverick12. At the end of testing, Rossi had reverted to a chassis that looked just like his 2018 unit; and that was quite temperature sensitive.
