So the next question is, does Alonso go to Andretti as a fifth car, "McClaren/Andretti"? Who would Andretti give up to keep it a 4 car team with Alonso? (This is not the place to start hating on Marco, please. He's done pretty well at the end of the season.) Is Alsonso going elsewhere now? Or is Alonso starting to loose interest in Indycar next year?
If Andretti goes to 5 cars... ...I love the incerase in car count ....but how healthy is it for the sport for Andretti to be able to direct 7 cars to influence the outcome of a race? We saw how his cars got out of Rossi's way at Sonoma. Harding/Steinbrenner will have to grow a huge set of balls to have some independence and direct their own fate.

I hope he does not fall into part-time basis.

Sounds like Alonso going full time is starting to fizzle out. It would still be great to see him back at Indy, tho'. Vandoorne would not be the international draw that Alonso would be, but it would be an addition of a credible car/driver combination to an already growing grid.

Hey Placid. After the Road to Indy weekend at IMS, how about a silly season thread for Indy Lights? It sounds like there might be enough cars nexdt year to make it worth while.

I’m a fan of Ed but I think this is the right choice.

Soon to be out of a NASCAR job, could AJ Allmendinger return to IndyCar or IMSA in 2019?
It's a great idea (and a good article) and worth clicking the link just for the picture of The Dinger, Justin Wilson and Paul Tracy on a podium together.

Would love to see it, but I worry about his age getting in the way. He's about the same age as the current champ and Alonso, but that transition...

Vandoorne is off the list as DCR will announce Ferrucci as their 2nd driver. Stoeffel's best option would be STR if Hartley gets dropped. GO CUBS!!! BEAT ROCKIES!!!

Charlie Kimball days could be numbered. Current Sauber driver Marcus Ericsson who has already being demoted for 2019, is looking into filling Carlin's 2nd seat for 2019. Carlin has yet to announce their 2nd driver. Looks like Stefan Johansson will be very busy this off-season. racer.com/2018/10/04/ericsson-targeting-carlin-indycar-ride/

^ No great loss... The other drivers and their cars will be safer with Kimball gone...
