Looks like Alonso is on average about a half a second slower per lap. Was that what we were suppose to get from this chart? Nope. It's that Max's Day 3 long runs were more similar to Alonso's than anyone else's, and that Max's and Alonso's tires were wearing very well. And Alonso's not off by 0.5s. It's less than 0.3s on average overall, and his quickest stint average (his last) was only about 0.13s slower per lap than Max's quickest one (also his last). As a guess I would think Max has more left in the car than Fred does but time will tell

Stroll 9 tenths slower than Fred in the same car!! In testing - the same car is rarely the same - different settings and adjustment that outsiders can't see.

As Bernie Collins was saying, when the tests were held in Spain the teams would bring new parts every day. Those parts would be produced based on what the car did the previous day. Testing this away from base with such a short lead to the 1st race has changed that metric considerably, i expect to see a few 1.5 spec cars show up by P2. Yeah I was just telling my kid this morning, "Who knows what we'll see this weekend". BTW, where/when did she say this? I'd love to hear Bernie's take on testing.

I'm thinking the same thing but Alpine has resources they could call on Haas doesn't have as much.

Which goes back to my first post in this thread! It is fun, but we don't know enough about the set ups to evaluate the outcome.

F1's greatest mystery:
Why has Ocon been touted by media types and tolerated by his employers for so many years? He is clearly waaay out of his depth, and has been since he arrived, to much fanfare. That plus his snide attitude make the Mad Russian from Haas a couple of years ago look good.

Nothing like esprit de corps - and Alpine is nothing like it.

Cela a certainement mis une torpille dans les ressources dont ils disposaient.

Sometimes you just die of embarrassment. Unfortunately, many people in this world are incapable of doing so.
