^Exactly. Forget the fact that these people want to cash in on their popularity when it benefits them and then claim 'please respect my privacy' when it doesn't. This isn't about whether LuLu is 69ing with Bieber, it's about a freak, tragic accident that happened to a well respected and highly popular driver after he retired. The family does not 'owe' anything to his fans, but completely blowing them off shows their contempt for the people who supported him and them and provides incentive for the creepy paparazzi. I am one of those that think the family is preserving his memory by not releasing too much info about his current and ongoing status. Yes lots of people think the worst bu there have been reports from some people, Ross Braun for one, that has said he sat and watched an F1 race with Michael since his accident and said they even discussed good and bad things going on during the race. I think the problem is Michael Schumacher is NOT the man he once was and to put him out there would do nothing but subject the family to criticism from people who say they are trying to 'make money off of an injured man'. I personally have no clue as to what his current status is but prefer to remember him as he once was instead of what he could be now...my mind goes to someone using a feeding tube and wearing a helmet and diaper...but I fervently hope that isn't true and that someday we will see Michael back in the public eye again. If we don't that's okay with me, lots of public figures had lives we never knew about until after they died and I'm okay with that. Truth be told - NONE OF US is what we once were - we all have moved on in years and years are not kind to us. Schumacher's fans understand that the years have moved on and the effects of the injury will have some affects upon his being. The stonewalling of the family leads most outside the family to form the mental image of a eggplant; for Michael's sake I hope that is a false image.

They haven't blown off his fans. His PR person has put out statements and vetted people like Jean Todt and Vettel have commented on his condition publicly. I understand your sentiment, but I don't think it is reasonable for the family to have to put on statements when he is undergoing surgeries and I think we all agree it is gross for paparazzi to stalk hospitals.

8 years after ski accident, Michael Schumacher's wife says the F1 legend is 'different, but he's here'Corinna Schumacher said her husband Michael Schumacher is "different, but he's here" in an upcoming Netflix documentary. The Formula 1 great suffered a severe head injury in a 2013 skiing accident. Schumacher hit his head on a rock while skiing with his son Mick and suffered a brain injury. He was in a medically induced coma for nearly six months after the accident and hasn't been seen in public since. The Schumacher family has been incredibly private about his condition in the years since the accident and Corinna's comments about his health status are part of a documentary premiering Sept. 15 titled "Schumacher." In it, she said her husband does therapy and that they were trying to keep their lives as private as possible. The fact that she even addressed Schumacher's status is noteworthy given how close to the vest the family has kept updates about his condition. From ESPN: "We're together. We live together at home. We do therapy. We do everything we can to make Michael better and to make sure he's comfortable. And to simply make him feel our family, our bond. "And no matter what, I will do everything I can. We all will. We're trying to carry on as a family, the way Michael liked it and still does. And we are getting on with our lives. "'Private is private,' as he always said. It's very important to me that he can continue to enjoy his private life as much as possible. "Michael always protected us, and now we are protecting Michael." Schumacher is widely considered one of the best Formula 1 racers of all time. He won seven championships from 1994-2004 and totaled 91 wins and 68 poles over his 19-year career. He drove for Jordan, Benetton and Ferrari from 1991-2006 before stepping away from F1. He returned in 2010 with Mercedes and drove for the team for three seasons before officially retiring from the series. His final season with the team immediately preceded Lewis Hamilton's arrival. Hamilton came to Mercedes in 2013 and the driver and team have become the dominant force in the series. Hamilton passed Schumacher's career record for F1 wins in 2020 and is a win away from his 100th. The two drivers are also tied with seven titles. Mick Schumacher, meanwhile, is currently in his F1 rookie season. He drives for backmarker Haas F1 after winning the 2020 F2 championship. www.yahoo.com/sports/8-years-after-ski-accident-michael-schumachers-wife-says-the-f-1-legend-is-different-but-hes-here-215358021.html

I just watched the documentary. It was wonderful. It reminded me of how special he was.
It also reminded me how much I miss seeing races at Suzuka! And what a stellar champion Mika was. Brutally fast but just a regular guy.
If you have not seen it, do so.

I was lucky enough to have a brief chat with he and Corrina at the inaugural Indy GP. let alone to lay a hand on the car. He was so appreciative to come here and race at Indy.

I liked how he went to Luxembourg to qualify for the Junior World Karting championship because it was free to enter ... and he was the only entrant

I may have to break down and get Netflix so I can watch this. Seriously? You must have a friend or relative that you can use their account. For every 1 paid for Netflix account there are at least two unpaid for, and they are still rolling in the cash.

I know, but I don't feel comfortable doing that. It's nice to know there are still ethical people in the world.

Though the extreme wealth doesn't come up much explicitly (other than showing the MS plane quickly), you know they were living in a different world that we are (well, than I am!) when Corinna is discussing that ill-fated ski trip and was saying how the snow wasn't great so they thought of going to Dubai to sky dive instead.

I like that they enjoy their money. Me to, it's no good and too much stress if you don't enjoy it.

To me the most memorable moment in the whole Netflix movie is when he is asked in the press conference how much breaking Senna's win record meant to him, and he just broke down. Really weeping. Mika and Ralf trying to console him and they ask Mika a question and he just says, "Can we have a break?" That moment, which I remember watching live, shows the humanity of the drivers. All three were effected, Ralf being Michael's brother was obviously concerned for his well being, but Mika, whom had raced Micheal in GoCarts was the first to reach over and rub him on the back. Ralf was thinking "This shouldn't be happening" but just sat there for a bit, but moved in once the cameras went to Mika.
Shows what asshats the press can be as well.

Yeah, but they gotta ask those questions, that's why they are there. The original question was fine, it was the pushing to Mika when Michael couldn't answer that sucked. But in a way didn't that add to the emotion of the moment? Having Mika getting choked up and asking to stop?
