Giorgio Piola provides technical illustrations. Mercedes’ recent return to form was brought up short in the final race of the season at Abu Dhabi. Just seven days after their one-two result in Brazil, they were definitely only the third-fastest team around the Yas Marina circuit.

One thing of note, Merc changed their floor profile at some point this year, it's more of a BR style venturi than the old inverted airfoil. Look at 1:04 on the video.

And they still needed more rear wing flap than the others to compete in the slower corners. Says a lot about the poor design they started with.

^ Yeah, it looks like they basically threw out the concept they started with and tried to make lemonade with what was left.
