So next years schedule was released yesterday, and no great surprises. There seem to be more night events than this year at 11.
The following will all be night starts for East Coast:
Clash (at the collasium)
Duels qualifying Bristol Dirt race All-Star Open and Main Event Coca-Cola 600 Nashville race Chicago Street Course (5:30 pm start mean most of the race will be nighttime for the East Coast Atlanta 2nd Daytona race Darlington Southern Bristol Fall Race
4 of these events (I count both duels separate) are non-points races.
5 "Road Course" events
Circuit of the Americas Sonoma Ca.
Chicago Street Course (not a road Course, but you get the idea) Watkins Glen ROVAL at Charlotte
Sadly the deletion of Road America
And the big thing North Wilkesboro returning to Cup to host the All-Star Events
Anything stand out to you? What are you looking forward to the most.
I still am waiting to see if Chicago has giving the final blessing to the Street Course race, that has not happened yet. The mayor is all for it, but city council?

As much as I dislike the so called All-Star race, I'm glad to see them going back to North Wilkesboro. I hope they can get a regular point race after this year without taking a date from another short track. I look forward to the Chicago street race. its a big deal for the sport so I hope its a good show. Its too bad that Road America had to be dropped for it. Other than that its pretty much the same schedule.

So I take it there is only one off week again this year? Not seeing a week off. There is more time after the Clash before Speedweeks but not a full week.

It's still a pretty grueling schedule. Starting to agree with Chase Elliot on the need for less races. 1 off week is because of TV networks. The NBA's calendar is 19 weeks long plus playoffs, the NHL's is 22. The MLB's 162 game season is only 26 weeks long. With the Clash, the Duels, the All Star Race, and 36 points races, you're looking at 39 weekends, 75% of them in a given year. Then during the week there's work in the shop, working out, meetings. Not my idea of a balanced life.

It's not any kind of a balanced life.

Going back to North Wilkesboro for the All Star race. That will be HUGE for long time fans. The dump (I MEAN track) doesn't have the infrastructure for a Cup points race, or even a Truck race. The answer is to send a limited number of cars. And it should be a big ratings draw.

Maybe they need to go the V8 Supercar route, love me some Supercars. They cram 34 rounds/races into a 16/17 event season. Food for thought.
