Nobody. Zac Brown said they are doing it completely as McLaren. Plus, Ganassi is Honda and with Alonso, it will certainly be Chevrolet. Honda said they cannot support any more teams. So no matter who it's with it'll be Chevrolet. It wouldn't be the first time a McLaren was powered by a Chevy... Zak Brown has said the entry will be run by McLaren but I cannot see them running a stock Dallara either. I also can't see them getting their own shock program going full speed over the next six months. That is why a technical alliance with Andretti is happening. The independent entry thing is just away around the whole Honda issue and allows them to run with Chevy without creating some sort of conflict between Andretti and Honda.

Zak has hinted a second car could be run and if that is case, they need to get JPM in the second car.

Bruce built a personal sports car that he planned to commercialize that had a GM power plant. His death prevented it from going into production. We had the car on display a couple of years ago following a SVRA weekend.

In early 1970, he prepared a prototype merging one of the empty M6 GT bodies with a stock M6B chassis and a Bartz-tuned Chevrolet engine. Registered OBH 500H, Bruce's personal ride had an estimated top speed of 165mph, and some quirky features, like manually operated lights that were raised and lowered using finger holes in the leading edge of the pods. It was also rather loud, based on this footage shot in Canada in 1971 of another M6GT: www.roadandtrack.com/car-culture/profiles/a30587/bruce-mclaren-would-have-turned-79-today/

Make what you will out of that tidbit, but even then 2020 is a long way off. I'm a JPM fan, so I'd be happy to see him with them in 2019.

Smoke needs to go on a serious weight reduction program before jumping into one of these cars.

^That's probably why he's talking 2020. It'd take him that long to slim down.

There were plenty of Chevy McLarens in Can-Am. I was a bit confused when people were talking about McLaren and Chevy not having a history. Weren't those Can Am Chevy cars the first to run Donovan/Reynolds aluminum blocks?
