While the Merc was decent in quali, I don't see them holding those positions all race.

Wewillsee, the Sky boys think the Mercs will do well if it's hot, but it looks to me like if one driver does OK with it the other struggles.

In P3 the red cars only ran the red tires. With the red flags nobody got a long run in P2. In P1 as near as I can figure out Leclerc's longest run was again on softest red tires. Sainz also commented that he had no running on a full fuel race trim. As compared to the ded cows, in P3 Max spent most of his laps on the mediums and Checo on the hards. So what does all this mean? Well, it seems that the red cars have very little experience with the probable main tires for the race, the mediums, and Sainz at least has zero experience on full or fuller tanks. Do they think they can run the softs and by using them they can figure what will happen on the mediums?

Crazy thought:
Could Ferrari start on SOFTS, and try to go forward and hide from Red Bull, and ditch the SOFTS for MEDIUMS at Lap 20-25?

If it's fully sunny i wouldn't even touch the softs at the start, i'm thinking a medium/hard one stopper is the call. But the 14 thru 16 complex is rife for a SC at some point so...

I haven't been impressed with the tracks ability to clear a on track incident - with the constricted nature of the track I would expect a Red Flag and not a Safety Car.

Either or i don't expect this to be a clean race.

When was the track surface laid down and how much time has it had to 'cure'? New asphalt doesn't like the kind of use that top level racing with levels of high downforce and cornering loads place upon it and it tends to start to come apart and spit out aggregate.
