I thought Aric had announced his pending retirement earlier in the year.

I thought Aric had announced his pending retirement earlier in the year. He had announced that he was going to retire at the end of last year, but he was talked into staying for this season. I think he announced it late so their wasn't time to change their/his minds.

The only change for this car is the nose, but that should help the aero part of the equation for Fords. Of course if Fords dominate at Daytona the other makers will start whining.

Interesting tidbit:
Ford had a down year, right? Did you notice that the Truck series, Xfinity series and Cup Champions all drove Fords. Discuss

Where is it in the NASCAR rule book that the season champion must win the final race. Too much deference is given to the final 4 already. Everybody on track is 'supposed' to have a chance to win.

I’m not even a Chastain fan, but I love his attitude. The guy does whatever it takes to win. Sometimes he’s a little rough, but he wants to win. These “final four” drivers think they are the only ones allowed to race. I think the 4 drivers should run their own race separate from the other 32 cars if they want special treatment.

Last time I checked Chastain has a team, sponsors, and himself to race for. Same with Creed at Martinsville. Neither Creed nor Chastain did anything wrong. I would say I have lost respect for Blaney but I don't respect any of the clowns, except for Chastain. The man just doesn't give a shit.

Most of the stuff that was said was heat of the moment type stuff. He seems to have backed off of those comments since in interviews I heard yesterday.
NASCAR created the whole situation anyway. They put the Championship 4 on a pedestal do all sorts of media coverage on them, then say "any interference with the Championship race will be harshly dealt with." So what exactly is interference? Let's say that Chastain and Blaney had tangled and wrecked, would they have penalized Chastain for interfering with the Championship. NASCAR has been vague with its rules over its history. This is just another gray area that Chastain colored. "I have the car to win, no one is going to stop me." type attitude that makes me a fan.
The rest of the field had team interests (were the two non-Hendrick cars going to race for the win? How about the other 3 Gibbs cars?) Maker interest. Etc. All of these stem from the multi-car teams. My attitude is if you are going to have them all on the track at the same time, then the race is on. What happens, happens. It should not matter where the drivers are in the standings, championship or whatever. Every driver should have an equal opportunity to win if they and their machine are up to the task.

^ He backed off because he won the title. If he didn’t, he would still be crying. And I agree, NASCAR created this mess, and all because Matt Kenseth had the nerve to win a title with one win over a guy who had 8 wins back in 2003. I still side with Chastain and think Blaney is a baby. Just my opinion though.

He said that as soon as he climbed out of the car he and Ross were laughing with each other. They have known each other for a long time. Words said on the radio in the heat of the moment never out for me. It is what is said when they have had a chance to cool down a bit that really matters. It also doesn't help when media people try to create false "rivalries" and amplify molehills into mountains so they can have something to talk about.
For me this whole thing is much adu about nothing. Life goes on.

^ He was laughing because he won, if Blaney lost, he would still be crying. He’s only cool with things as long as he’s winning. Says a lot about him.

Amazon, TNT Sports joining NASCAR broadcasting fold from 2025In its new media rights deal beginning in 2025, NASCAR retained its two existing broadcast partners Fox Sports and NBC Sports, while adding Amazon Prime Video and TNT Sports. All 38 NASCAR Cup Series races will be broadcast live. Terms of the seven-year deal were not disclosed. “Our goal was to secure long-term stability with an optimized mix of distribution platforms and innovative partners that would allow us to grow the sport while delivering our product to fans wherever they are – and we’ve achieved that today,” said NASCAR President Steve Phelps. “NASCAR has been a cornerstone property for both new and established platforms for several decades. These agreements demonstrate the staying power of our sport and the consistent, large-scale audience it delivers. This landmark deal underscores our collective growth opportunity to drive engagement across this diverse collection of platforms – whether on broadcast, cable or direct-to-consumer. racer.com/2023/11/29/amazon-tnt-sports-joining-nascar-broadcasting-fold-from-2025/?utm_source=RACER+%2F%2F+Newsletter&utm_campaign=c06ec7ace7-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2023_11_29_06_38_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_-61fb36d9c8-%5BLIST_EMAIL_ID%5D

I miss TNN.

I can not wait to hear all of the people crying that they can not watch a race because they do not have Amazon. And they have a point. So now you have to pay to watch SOME of the races. How long until you have to pay to watch any of them?
BTW is NASCAR would create a stream platform of their own and I could pay to watch races commercial free I would be all over that. Lets make that happen.

Lets make that happen. Anybody that sets up something to be 'commercial free' will ultimately find themselves lacking revenues for what they set up to CONTINUE to be commercial free, and it will become commercial intense.
