This 2021 was totally unexpected and some few surprises for this year’s US class that is very hard to describe on reactions for the season for our US F1 hopefuls who are attempting to reach their goal. But for some, it is still possibly 2 years away or so and C-19 pandemic issues are still in our minds. Now it is the time to look at this year’s class for our year in review.
NOTE: WILL HAVE TO SPLIT IT IN PARTS
OUT:
I will possibly describe for 1 of our 1st drivers who will not reach his goal and had a such good reason. New York Native Yves Baltas was supposed to join the Super Formula ranks with B-Max Racing to compete. But COVID -19 prevented him from flying to Japan unable to compete, so I have no clue if he had the necessary budget to obtain a new ride. Now a future is uncertain.
Another driver who just suffered budget issues is Miami’s Santi Trisini who started his campaign in the Spanish formula 4 ranks only to have 2 rounds in his season going scoreless and a 26th place finish officially.
Uncertain:
There are some uncertainties on these drivers since they only competed a few rounds. Miami’s Brad Benavides split his time in the Formula European Regional Series by Alpine and the Euro Formula Open after going scoreless in the FRECA posting a 26th place finish officially for his efforts. But got recently picked up by Carlin to the remainder of the 2021 EFO season thus faring just a bit better with a P13 scoring points. The series was easy due to less than 16 entries. Just wondering where he will land for 2022 after his FIA F3 test.
Merritt Island, Florida native Arias Deukmedjian came from a karting background who briefly competed in the FIA F4 championship and the Formula Regional Americas. He only took 1 FRECA round at Mugello as a Guest driver to check out where he will compete in 2022.
Doubtful:
Houston’s Enzo Scionti had some sub-par season for the Spanish team Drivex and all courtesy of the Fernando Alonso Academy scoring 12 top 10 finishes with 2 P7 finishes as his best. I wonder if Scionti will get another chance with Fernando Alonso’s driving academy.
Hunter Yeany had a bit to shine in 1 series but will have to see if he will land in Europe once again. The Mooresville, NC native briefly raced in the GB-3 series at Spa where he scored his 1st European podium in a reversed Race 3 event posting a 3rd place finish. He would then join Charouz Racing for a brief time for 2 events at Spa and Zandvoort with a best P18 finish and had a brief final test at Valencia with FIA Formula 3 team Campos Racing to make his impression for 2022.
Also being doubtful is Fort Lauderdale, Florida native David Morales. David is coming off from his British Formula 4 season after finishing 18th with 2 reverse-grid podiums and some top 10 finishes. David will race this winter in the Asia F3 with Evans GP.
