Not the news any of us wanted to wake up to. I’m happy he was able to get to IMS one last time and to be recognized for all he has done for racing. On a personal note, I’m glad I was able to meet him years ago and I was able to have one last email printed a few weeks ago in Robin’s Mailbag. BTW, if you met him in person, he was exactly what you would expect.

Sad day. He's been in bad shape for a while. I didn't know him, but I know someone who did. Never had anything but great things to say about RM. Great person. As nice as they come. No BS. Always called it like he saw it, straight to the point.

We have lost the greatest Indy car fan of all-time. It's that simple. The man ate, drank, slept, breathed open wheel racing. The number of fans he introduced or kept alive in this sport is enumerable.

PRUETT: There was nobody like Robin MillerHis voice was the loudest in any press room, his personality the biggest in any paddock he graced. He was more famous and more revered than half the drivers he covered. His stories started more conversations, stressed more friendships, and did more to champion IndyCar racing than any person or sanctioning body over the last five decades. His heart was IndyCar’s heart. Robin Lee Miller, a man who was loved or loathed with intense passion by drivers, team owners, and fans alike, died this morning at the age of 71 after a prolonged fight against cancer and leukemia. Even though we’ve known it was coming, it’s still hard to process. Through open-wheel’s best and worst times, Miller was always there, reporting, fanning the flames of fires he often started, driven by a need to make people care about the sport he loved and ensure it survived. I can’t imagine motor racing without him. racer.com/2021/08/25/pruett-there-was-nobody-like-robin-miller/?fbclid=IwAR3-C2uZGXx2ACGX-N1hRQBmkFbZuMCIYCQr06cxK4ltJtqV_0jGHQeGRFQ

Robin told it like it was, and paid the price for doing it. He never thought twice about pissing anybody off, and brought to light so many things that nobody else would report on. He had could get you pissed and have you rolling on the floor in the same rant.
His love of Indy kept me tuned in to the IndyCar sport during the civil war.
He will certainly be missed...

Tearjerker, but there's Robin's HOF speech from a week or so ago.

No matter which open-wheel series he follows. But he did on answering every question around him. And always has a proper answer in his mailbag. We will miss you Rob.
AND THANK YOU!!

For me Robin brought so much more to a race broadcast. When he said something I never had to wonder if it was the corporate line. We he said it, it was how he saw it. In these times I don't think we will ever see someone like Robin Miller again. RIP Robin!
